Black's Barbecue Lockhart

We had my n niece am I two older sisters birthday celebration at blacks this year. The atmosphere was fabulous and the way that was great. And the food was delicious! We really enjoyed our time there.

As a big fan of Texas BBQ, I felt like achievement unlocked for going to this famous BBQ restaurant in Lockhart. I went there around 11 am in the morning (they opened at 10:30am). Very easy to find a table. The restaurant was spacious and the atmosphere was great, really suitable for families.

I ordered Giant Beef Rib, Fatty/Moist Beef Brisket, Jalapeño Sausage, and some sides.

The quality of the food was high, especially the fatty brisket. By the way, I ordered fatty brisket but they gave me the lean one by mistake. I did not realize until I started eating. I then told the staff about that issue. She apologized and immediately sent me the right brisket. The service was excellent.

The jalapeño sausage tasted okay, but the casing was too tough to chew or slice. The sausage meat was somewhat mealy.

The beef rib was quite good. One thing I like BBQ restaurants in Lockhart is that their price is generally lower than those in Houston.

Wow! Just wow!

We've been to the Black's in Austin, and it was really good. But this one in Lockhart was just amazing! All we had was the brisket and the sausage and it was the best BBQ ever!

Sorry for all the exclamation points. I usually think the overuse of them is a bit tacky, but too bad, it's deserving here!

The staff was super helpful and friendly, the cafeteria style lineup was very efficient. The prices and portions weren't too bad either. We were able to feed 3 adults and 3 kids on $35.

We visited here on our way to our trip to Port Aransas, and are already planning on coming again on our way back to Austin.

Definitely recommend Black's! You won't regret it!

What a fun place. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The brisket was very flavorful. The sides were my favorite. We had cream corn, sweet potato, potato salad and black eye peas all very good .

The place comes highly recommended and it doesn't disappoint everything is delicious, the beef rib was out of this world.... Sooo good. The people that work here are nice helpful and very friendly.... The restaurant is clean and full of pictures and souvenirs. If you are in the area and looking for an amazing BBQ this is the place.

The customer service is exceptional and every staff member was very friendly and have great knowledge of the food. They provided great recommendations if you were on the fence about any menu items.

The Mac-n-cheese was very creamy and cheesy. The brisket sandwich was so tender and melted in your mouth. There's no need for any sauce. The jalapeño cheese sausage was also tender and very flavorful.

I'll definitely be back and bring everyone that visits Texas.

Lockhart Texas is the self-appointed "Best BBQ In Texas" and Black's purports to be the best in Lockhart. Since none of the many other BBQ joints boasted that they are the second best in Lockhart, we choose Black's. We weren't disappointed.

Their brisket and ribs were super tasty with lots of moisture and flavor. The staff was very accommodating, and the atmosphere was good.

VERY much worth the stop!

I had the brisket, ribs, corn, and sweet potatoes, which were all fantastic. The BBQ sauce was mild in flavor, so it didn't completely mask the meat flavors. The restaurant smells of BBQ and wood smoke, bringing that outdoor campfire smell that will get into your clothes, not that it bothered me, but it may others, especially if you're going out afterward. The staff were super friendly and as a visitor from out of state I felt welcomed and well catered to. I didn't get to try everything, but would love to visit again.

Tried the top 4 Lockhart BBQ spots today: Chisholm Trail BBQ, Black’s BBQ Lockhart, Smitty’s Market, and Kreuz Market, in that order. Black’s BBQ (not Terry Black’s because Terry’s is an Austin spot that also has a location in Lockhart) was today’s top ranked!

We got: moist brisket with extra bark (bark piece was really good, overall brisket was good), huge beef rib (honestly was overhyped because of the cost; it had a pot roast consistency so I wouldn’t order it again but it did easily separate from the bone), jalapeño cheese sausage (casing was tough to cut and falling apart but flavor was pretty good) banana pudding (delicious and extra sweet). We didn’t really make room for sides but agreed that between the 4, Black’s had the best selection. Food wasn’t quite a 5 for me, compared to some of the other BBQ places around Texas, but overall Black’s did great and brought a small town big flavors.

Morgan was fantastic walked me through the ordering process. Customer service was excellent which matches the to die for food. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again. I dug right in and had to get a photo after having eaten some. I just couldn't wait.

Beef ribs were the BEST! Enjoyed some brisket and the smoked sausage. My two sides were the potato salad and creamed corn. Both were very good. We stopped on the way back from a family function after seeing billboards advertising it as we drove through Lockhart yesterday.

Everything was great. Service was wonderful. They were very helpful when I was ordering. The brisket was amazing. I am extremely picky about brisket. I only care for brisket from one other place, and this place is up there with it. I wish they had vanilla ice cream for the peach cobbler. I also tried the sausage, and it great. I would definitely return and try the ribs. I saw one that huge!

Loved it! Everyone was super nice and the food was amazing. Get the beef rib! Also, gluten free was clearly marked and handled well.

Eat the beef rib and brisket and tell me you ain’t in heaven.

Sausages are on another level. Sides are also delicious with garlic in the mac n cheese + dank cream corn.

Black’s has it going on. This place is over 100 years old and still has some of the best barbecue I have had. Brisket was super good and just fell apart. Nice smoke and great taste. Sausages were excellent, nice Smokey taste and I liked both so much that I got 4 rings of each one to take home. The turkey sandwich was perfect. Corn was out of this world. Great place with good seating and great service. Staff were really friendly.

I absolutely adore this place and the folks who chow down here! They're not just about delicious BBQ, they're all about creating a friendly dining experience. I was even invited to join a lively group at their table! The person sitting next to me kindly snapped some pics as I tackled a colossal 2-pound beef rib. 😆😆😆😆 The neighboring tables cheered me on while I savored that meaty marvel, all while listening to some fantastic country music 🎼. Talk about an awesome spot! Warm-hearted people, refreshing AC in June Texas, and hands down, the best beef rib you'll ever sink your teeth into. 👏👏👏👏

You have to stop at Black’s barbecue and you are in the area there food has stood the test of time and anyone running a restaurant for almost 90 years and still being in business knows what they are doing and they are making some amazing food. There brisket was amazing and so was there sausage. They also have a ton of sides to choose from which is nice. But I promise that the meat well steal the show every time you eat here. The staff was super nice and we had a great dinning experience at blacks. We can’t wait to go back.

Firstly, the service is AMAZING. Such friendly outgoing staff! The wait was a little long despite a short line, but that gave us an opportunity to see all the history hanging on the walls. The sides (potato salad, coleslaw and Mac&Cheese) were perfect. Meats we had were both lean and most brisket, sausage and beef ribs. All were phenomenal! For dessert, highly recommend the peach cobbler, yum.

This was my first stop on my barbecue quest in and around Austin. It did not disappoint. They are doing some spectacular barbecue there. The brisket was outstanding; the sausage was outstanding; the ribs were outstanding. The atmosphere was amazing. The staff was friendly and efficient. You need to go. You need to go now. What, ain't you left yet? Go?
