Goliad County Courthouse

Stunning courthouse. The square has a few historical markers to let you know the history of the area.

After a day of touring the battleground areas, etc this was a nice way to end our day in the beautiful little courtyard square. The history of this town just keeps intriguing with their beautiful courthouse, the impressive yet creepy hanging tree and the variety of eclectic shops nearby. Who knew Goliad would be such a treasure of a place to visit?

The building is beautifully designed. It stands out compared to other Texas courthouses. Goliad was an important city in the early history of Texas.

Amazing building built in 1894. The area around is great too. Oh, don't miss the hanging tree right near the entrance.

Enjoyed our visit, sheriff talked to us and told us some history,like hanging tree next to courthouse and the shops on the square asnd resturants and to go visit Presidio. Enjoyed our trip.

Great historical site. Highly recommend you stop and see if you are passing by.

Beautiful downtown and courthouse. I went during the week and it was peaceful and not much was going on. People were friendly and said hello to me while I was sitting on a bench admiring the courthouse.

Beautiful architecture in a pretty little historic town

Another one of Texas beautiful courthouses. Built 1894. Cost $67,888.95. Limestone and brick from 1870 courthouse were used in this, the fourth one built since county's creation in 1836. Used as hospital after 1902 cyclone. A 1942 storm tore off central clock tower. Enlarged in 1964. Preserving carved staircases, walnut wainscots.

Prettiest courthouse I think I've ever seen. The informational plaques were really educational! I liked the hanging tree, it was very creepy/cool.

Nobody ever remembers the Goliad. They always remember the Alamo, but not the Goliad.

I didn't go inside, just wandered around the outside. Loved all the lizards that was awesome!!!!!

Es un pueblito pequeño, pero si andas por ahí vale la pena hacer la parada. Muy bonito. La Courthouse es el centro de todo el pueblo.
