What a telling story these ruins hold. We visited this mission out of curiosity to see the missions established in Texas. I didn't know that this mission was literally ruins, but it was great to see just where the Church decided to erect missions in what is now Texas. I do like the etched glass that allows one to see what the mission could have looked like. It would be grand to be able to at least walk around the ruins like one can at Stone Hedge.

These are ruins that are maintained by the Texas Parks.
The ruins are fenced and locked. If you'd like to enter the ruins I would suggest you contact the Mission Espiritu Santo Park for information.

Really cool. Unfortunately you can't go into this mission but still cool to visit.

This was a mission long ago but was burned down and destroyed. Archeologists are searching for artifacts to this day so the area is fenced off with no trespassing signs. It's a neat peek into the past. Was told renovations would be done soon by adding a glass wall with the outlined mission etched into the glass so everyone could see what it looked like before it fell. Can't wait.

We toured this site with the Texas Parks and Wildlife tour, so it was fascinating. When we visited before, we were by ourselves and did not totally understand what we were looking at. With the tour, we learned what had been there and who had been there and were able to actually walk all over the ruins. Really great experince.

Just a pile of rocks? To the unappreciative masses, sure. But to those who yearn for the most authentic historic site in Texas, this is the place to go. Unlike Mission Espiritu Santo & Presidio La Bahia who have undergone numerous restoration and reconstruction projects, Mission Rosario is 100% authentic. While in ruins, it speaks volumes and provides visitors with an opportunity to step back in time to some of the earliest manmade structures in Texas history.
