Tocco

We decided to try out Tocco on a whim after spending the day at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Even though we hadn't booked a table, the host welcomed us warmly, setting a friendly tone for the evening.

To our surprise, the guy who greeted us turned out to be the owner and chef, Bruno Abate. He was really nice and made us feel right at home.

The outdoor patio was a great spot to enjoy, with its cozy setup and pretty lights.

Looking at the menu, we found lots of yummy-sounding dishes to choose from. Each one we tried was delicious, with authentic Italian flavors that blew us away.

What impressed us the most was how reasonable the prices were compared to other Italian restaurants in Chicago. We got a bottle of wine, a couple of main dishes, and a dessert without breaking the bank.

All in all, Tocco has become our favorite place in Winnetka. With its friendly staff, tasty food, and cozy atmosphere, we can't wait to go back. Thanks, Tocco, for a wonderful dining experience!

One of my favorite restaurants in the Chicago area. We are regulars. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, and the dishes are simply prepared so that the flavors can shine. Lots of vegetarian options, and some vegan too.

Petite and chic Italian dining, with cool vibe and nice ambiance. Hip bar, intimate seating in open room with plenty of windows. Great pasta, so good we forgot to take a photo! We had a ravioli ‘like” homemade pasta with a spinach cheese filling in a light red sauce, tasty and lovely. We shared that entree, the fennel salad and tuna tartar appetizer which were both excellent. The bread needed to get up to speed with the food. Dessert was a very small scoop of coffee gelato while good, tiny! Excellent service and the owner who is from Italy works the room greeting guests. We arrived early so we could have a conversation but the open room is loud as the tables steadily filled. Make a reservation and plan on spending $$$$$$$. Prices were high, we each had two glasses of wine and shared the dinner for a cost, with tip, of about $100 per person. Special occasion dining, lovely surroundings, excellent waitstaff.

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Very good food, fantastic service and sophisticated decor. I like it because it’s fine dining quality but a more relaxed and accessible environment for a week night meal. Great vegetarian options

Wow! Finally what I was looking for: a real Italian restaurant, meaning Italian in taste, material, size and service. The menu is excellent and exciting. Gnocchi are extremely good, fresh, cooked properly and the sauce is just what I was hoping for. This place is not for all pockets but it's definitely worth it.
If you have a chance to chat with Bruno, it will make the experience even better.

Bruno and his team are terrific. We are frequent guests. Authentic Italian food in a wonderful setting. Summer patio is terrific. Inside is wonderful. Sometimes crowded by the bar at peak times.
If OpenTable says there are no reservations, call the restaurant. Sometimes they can accommodate you. You can also eat at the bar.

I had a wonderful experience at Tocco restaurant! The ambiance was charming, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was simply divine. I particularly enjoyed their signature pasta dish, which was bursting with flavor. It was a delightful dining experience, and I can't wait to return for another memorable meal at Tocco.

It is tough to find Italian food in the US that evokes what you eat in Italy....simple ingredients combined in a way that you can't understand or replicate but you are sure is all they serve in heaven. Eating at Tocco brought me back to those amazing and delicious meals in Italy. Service is outstanding....ask for and take their recommendations! And if you dine there in the summer opt for the outdoor space.

I love this place!! Discovered it through a friend. The homemade pasta hits every mark with flavor, firmness, color, and texture and elasticity. The menu is authentic, the service is above par and the ambience is pleasing. There is no shame being a city guy, and driving past many Italian venues to get to this one. It's worth the drive, no doubt.

This is the closest culinary experience to being in Italy I’ve found outside of Italy. The ambiance, especially on a summer night in lovely Winnetka, the service, and the pasta!!!!

You must try the truffle tortellini… Good grief, it’s heaven.

Bruno ( the owner) will be always serving the best, simple authentic Italian food. You won’t see pasta sauce with 25 ingredients, just 2-3 cooked in the right way for a delicious dish. Pizza is great, as well as fish dishes. Always a pleasure to be with him, and great food.

First time visiting Tocco. The owner Bruno greeted us at the door with a big smile and personality to die for. The restaurant is chic and had great energy. The 4 of us were excited to start the night off with drinks that were spectacular! Ladies ordered margaritas and the gentleman ordered beer and Martinis. Started with the calamari appetizer that was very tasty! For dinner we ordered the prosciutto fungi Pizza that was spectacular. It was prepared perfectly! We also ordered the pasta with truffle cream sauce and Parmesan Risotto. It was so tasty that we decided to book another reservation in October! Thank you again for the amazing experience and look forward to telling all our friends and joining you again.

Tocco is bar none the best Italian food in Chicago! The owner, Bruno, is not only a consummate host but values you as a guest. There are very few restaurants that have the level of service that you'll find here. If you're looking for a great meal and wonderful experience look no further.

Wow! I have to say this is definitely the best Italian I’ve had on the north shore and maybe the best including the city. Every dish was exceptional. The wine list is great. Very good service and ambiance. Highly recommend!
