Beverly Records

Yesterday was my first time in this store of music history and I was like a kid In a candy store. I've always read and heard about Beverly Records but kept forgetting that this hidden gem was there even while living not to far from the store and it took moving 45 minutes away and being in the area yesterday, to finally visit, and I was not disappointed. The smell of old records when I entered the store was intoxicating. The place is an organized mess but for a music lover like myself, I was in paradise. Jack the owner was at the counter and I told him it was my first time and he welcomed me with a gracious smile. I told him I had a list and he immediately helped me find mostly what was on my list and even an album that wasn't on my list that I asked Jack about by artist Baby Washington that Jack wasn't sure he had but he found it and I was more than ecstatic he did. I also came on the right day because most of the records I bought were half-off which was an added bonus. Jack thank you for going out of your way and making my first time at the store such a wonderful experience. I will truly be back!

Nuts about this place! It is perfect for: audiophiles, historians, fans of every musical genre including blues, jazz, classical, musicals, hip hop (R and B to my generation), country, folk, and other treasures.

The walls are filled with memorabilia; the collections are organized perfectly by genre and artist.

If you can't find it here it never existed. And if you don't see it ASK!

I was referred to this brother-owned (55+ years and thriving) records place but for repair of a newly-acquired turntable. Randy diagnosed the simply issue by taking it apart in front of me, explaining the relatively easy fix, and charged me very little money for the process.

It looks like an old dive bar from the outside but don't be fooled. This is as good as it gets.

Wonderful records store. My dad started coming here back in the 70s I think maybe longer. On the 2nd trip I bought a turn table and I enjoy playing my Dad's old records collection.

Like stepping back in time musically!!! They have such an assortment. Will definitely go back. Pricing is very good

It's one of the best experiences you can have, because it never changes. It's a time capsule forna Chicago long gone in order to find music long gone...but the irony is...that it still lives on!

This is a great place, and they have a very huge selection. Since going in the first time and thumbing through the racks, I've been hooked. I've found some great records in very good condition. I've yet to come out with just one album. The atmosphere is great. Get your list together and give it a go. You'll get a little dust on you going through the racks (which is the fun part), but you'll find a lot of what you're looking for...and nothing compares to getting home, cleaning the album up and letting it spin. Best place to go in the city in my opinion, and it's located on the south side. The staff is very helpful and friendly too. I'll definitely be there a few times a month.

Didn't realize they were still open after 40+ years. Still a great place for vinyl and oldies!

John was the DJ for my oldest son’s wedding, and he was so much fun that we have asked him to be the DJ for all 5 of my children’s weddings. John has traveled to Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan for our receptions to provide the perfect combination of music to get everyone on the dance floor and to keep them there. Our weddings have ranged from 240-300 guests and somehow John finds music that motivates everyone to leave their tables and join the fun on the dance floor. My friends and family always comment on the wonderful evening of endless dancing and celebration that John provides. I would highly recommend John as a wedding DJ!

5-8-23 update: visit to drop off vintage dual turnable for repair. always a pleasure to go to beverly rare records and chat with jack about fela kuti, record store day, and pureed food.

Incredible store and overall cultural experience. Spend an hour in the store looking around and you might find yourself back in time.

If you want to buy all of the singles from your 80-90s youth, one at a time, check out their crazy-catalogued 45's notebook and go hunting for your record of choice. This is the kind of place where they have 10 copies of the Police album you want, but 8 of them are scratched and one is missing a jacket. Good news? The tenth one is GOLD.

A very large and well organized selection of albums for everybody. Staff was very knowledgable and friendly! Good prices for albums compared to other stores as well as online! Highly recommend!!!!

Like a step back in time. Stuff from floor to ceiling but very knowledgeable man working there is able to find anything you want.
