Karl Kirsch did a fabulous job restoring our wood floors. They had been randomly “cleaned” by a well-intended visitor. The product had a high gloss/ high sheen finish which did NOT suit our home. The flooring lives in a moist environment and consequently has some cupping. This made the unknown/ mystery “cleaning product” streak every direction across our floors. Add in an abundance of natural light and all we could see was an inconsistent finish that looked sloppy and horrendous. Our living room is the heart and soul of our beloved 1906 home. After several attempts to remove the uninvited top coat, we needed professional help.

Karl was contacted. He happily came by to take a look-see. While he didn’t say so, I think he was as disgusted as we were with the condition of the hard wood floor. We discussed options, best practices and sound solutions that were best suited to OUR home, OUR environment and OUR flooring. We discussed finishing choices and crafted a plan. Karl felt the best way to effectively restore the floor was to HAND sand and manually pass every square inch on his hands and knees. Lesser contractors recommended large stand up equipment (that would bounce over the cupping)…they’d be “in and out” in a day. They had zero answers for some what ifs that would likely occur during the course of restoration. Never once did the other contractors kneel down to examine and feel the floor…this was particularly odd given the number of imperfections in our floor. Polar opposite to Karl. He had a personal interest in doing our job the “right way”. And…his pricing was appropriate for the job. The others were unreasonable in their pricing and had no relevance to the services they intended (or not) to provide.

Karl showed up when expected, communicated any issues along the way and was efficient and effective. His experience lended itself very well for what we needed. I would hire him again if the need ever arises. Hands down the perfect person for our job. I HIGHLY recommend Kirsch Wood Flooring.

Karl is a genuine person to work with. His knowledge and experience on flooring is top notch! He finished our maple floors with the best sealer and finish which completely transformed our home. Great workmanship and a pleasure. As others have posted, Karl takes his work and results personally which is what you want in a contractor.. Would highly recommend him to anyone!

Karl made a tremendous effort to both travel to our job site, and to complete the work in a very compressed time frame. The results were amazing and the home transformed. Fairly priced and completely transparent in all aspects of the project. One cannot help but notice how personal this is for him.

The worst quality work I’ve ever seen for wood floor refinishing. The guy did not show up for regular work hours or meet any promised goal dates. He billed for work a month in advance but didn’t do what was promised. He was a sloppy trades guy that left a dusty dirty work environment in and outside my home and even had hairs that ended up in the finish of the floor sealer. The other trades people who have seen recent work were surprised how bad it was. They will have to redo it all. On top of all that he charged me for over fifteen hundred dollars for supplies he never even bought and others he did he never installed. Some of the stains and materials were also second rate. A complete disaster dealing with this solo business contractor. Get a certified Bona stain contractor and a good team to do the work.
