When I was a kid Iived at 417 Eldred St. and the park was right behind our yard and garage. There was a small wooden shelter with benches on top and a railroad tie set of steps down to Lovell St. (great sledding). On the other side of the little hill was a tangle of brush and trees and wild blackberries and a little beyond that a tiny restaurant called Mom's as I recall----burger .20, shake .20---very good. This was in about 1948. Down by the train tracks was a small natural spring where watercress thrived. We kids loved the place.
