When it was time for my husband and I to choose a school for our children, I knew St. Matthias was the place. As an alum, I knew first-hand the type of extraordinary experiences my kids would have here as well as the solid, Christian foundation they would receive. SMS is built on: Faith, Caring, & Excellence. These characteristics set St. Matthias apart. My children are in an environment that allows them to grow spiritually as well as academically; learning what it feels like to be part of a church and school community. The teachers at St. Matthias are smart, caring, and passionate. They are teaching the students character development, decision-making, and helping them build a strong-self esteem. It's for these reasons along with the parent-teacher, teacher-student, church-family relationships that make St. Matthias rise to the top. Daily, my kids are academically challenged, growing spiritually, and most important of all they come home with a smile. Thank you St. Matthias!

Excellent environment for elementary learning, staff and leadership are motivated and responsive to needs of students and adapting to academic trends. All classroom technology is current, all classrooms have smart boards, computers, laptops, iPads. Academic performance is paramount and shared goals among all students, families and staff. Collaboration between family and school are not just encouraged it's expected.

All 5 of my children went to St Matthias and now 3 of my grandchildren are there. Best school, best education, best environment. They all went on successful high school and college careers and are now employed in wonderful jobs.

I loved this school it gave me a great education all the negative comments are from fellow students who don't understand some teacher yell. So what if one teacher gave them a detention. Their are very few really strict teachers and a lot of good ones. So if your considering going here do so the only negative is seniora bowers. we have a new principle who is very good and is bringing new ideas to SMS.

he rooms are very bright and well lit. But the teachers are not friendly with the kids at all. They have a very cookie cutter approach towards education. From my experience, if children have trouble settling down in PreK, the teachers make a very big deal out of it, and keep complaining to the individual parents. If the child is not completing their tasks assigned, no one will encourage the kids. This school is for self motivated children. Very negative environment. One boy used to cry everyday in the class and they used to call the principle and nurse to show how the boy is disrupting the class. (4 year old kid). No one bothered to calm that poor kid down. Some parents who volunteered for lunch, tried and helped calm him down. No one to one interaction with the kids from the teachers. I would not suggest this school for elementary level of education.

As a former student, I couldn't agree with the last reviewer more. Unfortunately, I experienced the treatment first hand. I attended this school from 1st through 8th grade and from my first day until 8th grade graduation I was treated as an outcast because I didn't behave in a way they knew how to deal with. I never did anything hurtful, hateful or anything that could be considered as a danger to any of the other students, though I was treated in that manner throughout my entire time there. I may have been a "class clown" but I was never rude nor disrespectful to any faculty or other students. I never sat next to any other students because my desk was permanently separated off in the back corner. They would call my mother constantly, and even go as far as to lie about things that I had done - I am not just saying that - I am now old enough to admit any wrong doings, but still at the time, no one believed me. In first grade, I made a funny face in the class picture and the teacher, Mrs. S. told the entire class that they should cut my face out of the picture. I was maybe 6 then, and I still remember that to this day. In fifth grade, the teacher, Mrs. I. suggested that I may be into devil worship. Really? I'm happy they had such high hopes for me. Instead of dealing with a student that didn't fit their "perfect" mold, the teachers suggested medication as a remedy for my "misbehavior". Never was I chosen for the basketball team, but I still tried out every year...how bad can an 11 year old be? You would think that if I needed medication due to all the extra energy I had, I would be a perfect fit for the team. I even served as an altar boy for several years, but was not invited to the annual summer trip to Dorney Park, without an explanation as to why. I could write more, but it is honestly not worth my time. At the time I attended, there were banners hung throughout the school and church with the phrase "All Are Welcome" written on them, but the treatment I received truly made me question Saint Matthias' beliefs as I have never felt more unwelcome anywhere else in my entire life. I am now a successful adult who owes nothing to a place that gave me nothing but awful memories that I must carry with me for my entire life. Parents, please do not put your children through this. Thanks!

my experience you ask? well, here's the thing, there are so many things that make me angry about this school. first of all, the school is behind by about 5 grades. schools like sampson g smith are on normal or higher level lessons, while st matthias school be teaching 5th grade level stuff in 8th grade! second of all, the staff. don't even get me started on how AWFUL THEY ARE! the principal is awful. she yells are kids for doing minor and insignificant things that they shouldn't be getting in trouble for. the vice principal is like a pervert. i swear, he's in a relationship with the librarian. of course, the school hiring a younger generation of teachers that aren't as strict as those wrinkly old teachers. they actually make education fun. some of the teachers are scary as heck! one may be too afraid to ask a simple question because they could be yelled at for asking "a stupid question". there was this one retired teachers. it was midterm time and i asked her a question about the study guide, she said "I already said that, go back to your seat" which i translated into "I don't care about your education, for all i care, get an F in my class, and you have one chance at getting good grades and you just ruined it" like seriously!?!? maybe i was too busy doing the study guide and STUDYING to hear the question already being answered. overall, don't send your kids to this awful school. it won't prepare them for life at all, and it won't prepare then religiously either.
