Jay and Mary’s Bookcenter

We usually have a great experience here! Super kind employees. It’s been one of the few places we can take my daughter and she feels comfortable (she is autistic and has a chronic medical condition) recently a couple employees have been visibly annoyed with her if she touches the toys set out or accidentally knocks a book over when looking (she is never ever destructive, she may bump a book reaching for a large stuffed animal which we pick up immediately) but in general people there are very kind to her. Which we value. We’ve been coming for years. One employee even diligently helped me search for a book about autism to share with her cousin who has had questions about her. We buy all of our books here and gifts for family and friends. It’s a lovely spot! I do hope those just couple employees are aware some kids are not being “bad” they just don’t understand social cues sometimes and we as parents are doing our best! That’s not Jay and Mary’s fault though, just a lack of awareness on those individuals I think ❤ 5/5 for our experience!!

What a wonderful bookstore! I ran in for one item and found myself traveling up and down every aisle exploring the beautiful selection. I was particularly intrigued by the children’s section where I found high-quality literature to help develop young minds. I managed to easily find the one item I was looking for and several more. The staff was kind and very knowledgeable of the books in the store. It was obvious that the employees are well read and love the product they sell. In the future, this will be where I go to first when I’m looking for literature needs!

This place was amazing! If you love books, you have to check it out. Mostly modern favorites, but nicely arranged and very cute atmosphere with coffee for sale to boot! We found something for everyone, including my baby and boyfriend who is not typically a reader.

The only place I buy books, if they don’t have it they’re always willing to order it in for you. But they almost always have what I’m looking for (plus things I didn’t realize I was looking for).

My experience is always very pleasant! They have amazing books and good prices! BUT ! One of the clerks (description) older lady, with short brown hair cut in a bob, and glasses. She is always super rude. No customer service at all. And quite frankly it shatters my Jays and Marys experience.
The very kind gentlemen with the glasses is always super helpful and very nice.

This is a lovely little book store. I have been going here since I was a child and will continue to go here as long as possible. If you're looking for a bookstore run by kind, caring community based people, look no further!

JUST a fantastic experience! While I have never been to the store, I sure hope to one day. I found online that a favorite author of mine does in-store signings and I could call the store, purchase his books and upon his next visit, he personalizes them. Well, I forgot that I did this and the box arrived today and it was perfect! Christmas came early!

Everyone's friendly and happily helpful if needed. Otherwise, let you roam til your hearts content. It's always clean welcoming and has an excellent variety of wonderful books and special toys and book additives .A truly uniquely beautiful place to visit and coffee next door. What more could a body want.

I love this bookstore!! The staff is always friendly and willing to help, if I need it. Whether I’m shopping for my classroom or personal reading there is always a good selection. We are lucky to have a bookstore like this in Troy!

This is my go to book store. Large selection, great staff.....helped me many times.

Jay and Mary's has a nice selection of new books. If you don't see what you want they can usually order it for you from their suppliers. In those situations the books come in in a couple of days. They always have a nice selection of calendars each year and if you know anybody who's into journaling they have some pretty journals. If you enjoy coffee or candy make sure you go next door to Winans. There's also a nice selection of current magazines at Jay and Mary's.

What a great local book store! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection but if they don't have a book, they are often able to special order it for you. They always seem to be as excited about the book that I am purchasing as I am. Great service and I absolutely recommend to any book lover or gift buyer.

Good independent bookseller. I've visited a couple of times while on vacation. If you are in town, it's worth checking them out.

They have the bestsellers that you or someone you know are looking for. Hardcover and Paperback. Looking for a Magazine? They have a nice selection there. So come on in and browse awhile. You will be happy you did.
And if you smell coffee and chocolate it is literally through the another door into Winan's ang get that cup of coffee and a cookie, or that piece of chocolate.
So go in and enjoy them both, you know you want too.

I love that this is a locally owned bookstore rather than a big box bookstore. This means that the prices are fair and the employees are friendly. They have such a great selection of books of all different genres. If they somehow don't have the book(s) you're looking for, they can order them in for you which is something that my wife has done on several occasions. It's also great that there's a Winans Chocolate and Coffee store attached.

Always amazing service I remember being excited to go here as a kid and I get the same feeling today at level 34 of life. Always great staff and helpful. I always spend more time here looking for my next adventure when I'm getting the current one. Recommend for life
