The Pickled Herring

We live in a "Deli Dessert" AKA the Princeton area. You cannot get a good Pastrami or Corned Beef sandwich anywhere in the area. We grew up in the the New York City area, and so we were raised on good Deli food.

So, we drove about an hour for lunch because we had heard such great things about The Pickled Herring. AND it did not disappoint.

The Mushroom Barley soup was thick and delicious, just like I remember it from the great Jewish Delis. My Pastrami Sandwich was lean but also moist and delicious (see photo). The coleslaw and kosher pickles were a tasty complement to the sandwich. The side of Onion Rings was great (photo).

Our server, Debbie, was both good at her job and very funny. She made our lunch experience just that much better.

On the way out, we couldn't resist stopping for some take-out sandwiches and sides for later, and, of course, a big black n' white cookie for dessert.

Bottom Line --- we will be back!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pickled Herring in Marlboro, and I must say, the service and food were absolutely fantastic! I ordered the Corned Beef and Pastrami Triple Decker with Russian dressing, and it was a culinary masterpiece.

1/11/2024, we went there tonight at 5:30pm,the dining area was packed but we only waited less than 5 minutes for a table.Our waiters name was Jeff, he was very friendly. We ordered a Matzo-ball Chicken Noodle soup which was very delicious with pieces of chicken and carrots.Hot Pastrami on rye which came with coleslaw and pickles, the pastrami was very tender and lean and delicious. I also ordered a Square Knish which tasted like Gabila's Coney Island Knishes.
On the way out my wife brought a Chinese cookie,which she said was very good.
We will definitely be back.

We stopped in for lunch today, and had a wonderful dining experience. The food is out of this world good and abundant. The pastrami burger is excellent, and my fave corned beef on rye was delish. Kudos to the stellar service we received from Mindy. Five star quality across the board. We will definitely be returning soon!

Stumbled across this deli/restaurant today and had a great lunch! We only had club sandwiches but they were excellent. Service friendly and quick. And very clean restaurant area. Will make a point to stop by if ever in the area again.

I've been here three times recently and am so satisfied each visit. Pastrami Brisket turkey all excellent. I'm so satisfied with the food here. Update: 5th time here and always still excellent.

BEST MATZO BALL SOUP EVA! I love this deli. It's always crowded but so worth the wait. The food is delicious, the people are friendly, and the pickles, my god the pickles. I love it so much they catered my Christmas dinner last month. My family couldn't say enough great things about the food and they took the holiday cooking stress away from me.

Been coming here since working in the plaza 4 years ago (and still come even though I don’t work there anymore) definitely on the pricier side (most expensive lox bagel I’ll ever eat) but the food is great and they give you a lot of jt. Staff makes you feel welcome as well. Place gets busy on Sundays and you can tell they have a lot of regulars who come throughout the week

Great place. Roasted turkey, pastrami, corrnbeef , brisket. All made in house and unbelievable good. Sour pickles great

Great restaurant, good service and delicious food, I had the pastrami sandwich on rye bread with coleslaw. The portions are tremendous. I wish the restaurant was closer to me.

Had the classic Reuben with fries, it was delicious, and it's enough for 2 people

The Smoky Joe (Belly lox instead of nova) was delicious ! Husband loved the chop liver and pastrami sandwich! Also enjoyed the Derma…..will be back 💯 %

I discovered this wonderful 💕 Jewish DELI through a friend. I live in Freehold. I crave fully stack pastrami sandwiches and many other DELI delights! Finally, I have found a DELI only a town over with wonderful staff, impeccable kept restaurant with respectable prices! I would recommend everyone visit The Pickled Herring!!

Simply the best - The Turkey cannot be beat at any price. Service is always fast and the selection is outstanding. Go and try it will not disappoint.

Awesome Food, great efficient service, feels like an old time Jewish Deli. Brings me back to my youth

A few days ago, we ordered from them to bring an assortment of foods for our Father’s Day celebration. Everything that we ordered was excellent! The lox, whitefish spread and sable were some of the best that we’ve ever eaten. Even the side dishes, such as coleslaw, were great. The sloppy Joe’s sandwich and turkey sandwich were really generous and delicious. As a result, I went there today to buy a further assortment of their food.
