Great small German restaurant and excellent conversation with the owner.
If yoirein town and looking for a simple home cooked German meal, this is the place for you.
I'll definitely be stopping in again when in town.

Great place. Food was fantastic. 2 of us ordered Hungarian goulash. I liked it. Plenty of sauce. The other ordered Rouladen. It was excellent. German music playing. Home cooked food. We had Bavarian cream cake for dessert. Wow!!!! It was wonderful. Perfect service. Friendly. I will be back!!

Nice little German gem in downtown Dubuque. Enjoyed Bavarian drinks before warming up to some fabulous authentic German food. Was nice to spend time with the long-time owner.

A wonderful old world experience. Lots of German atmosphere in which to enjoy the excellent food. The chicken cabbage soup was superb and worthy of a five star restaurant. Our party raved about the food. The staff is friendly and engaging.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful little restaurant! The food was really authentic and delicious! I absolutely recommend eating here, and be sure and have a tasty German beer while doing so😊

Don't be fooled by how this place looks from the outside, or even maybe the inside. The food is amazing! Like - if your grandma grew up in Germany, and made you the family recipe for Sunday dinner - amazing. Especially make sure to order something that comes with the purple cabbage! If you like traditional German food, you have to stop here.

What a great meal we had here. My husband had Sauerbraten and I had Schnitzel. Both were wonderful. Joe and Sylvia were great host and we had a great conversation with another couple from the bar. So homey and nice.

Such a cool time capsule, old school and full of authentic decor. Very tasty homemade German food and German beers. A cozy and relaxing place with a ton of character, and friendly hosts. Prost!

Gott im Himmel! This was so necessary today. Absolutely wonderful. My wife and I split a Kassler Ribchen. Soup was potato and cabbage. Side of red cabbage and a mouthful of Kassler and homemade Spätzle noodles made me think I was in Germany.

Chocholate Bavarian cream cake with a cup of coffee to round off the meal. Taste that cream in the homemade frosting.

Joe the owner is very friendly. Great atmosphere!

Umpah music in the background and Bit bier made this 30 year running Bier Stube a place I will plan to come back to... with my lederhosen on!

Very fun and interestingly new foods but ohhhh so good!! The boss and his wife were sweet and customer service top notch! Keep up the hard work!

Joe pours the best beer in the Midwest! Be patient, perfection can’t be rushed. Great German food.

Casual and authentic atmosphere, great food and friendly service. We felt like we took a trip to Germany for a quick lunch! Loved it. Dinner is only served on weekends and they close early, but we look forward to having dinner there soon.

Das gut! Surprisingly full menu for what is primarily a bierstube; tasty authentic food and generally good portion sizes (if a little skimpy on the spaetzle). Pork schnitzel with bearnaise was very nice, and the sauerbraten was just like Mutter used to make. Not sure why they’re the only place in a town full of German descendants that serves this fare, but we’re awfully glad they do!

We brought 25 people to the restaurant for a birthday gathering. They accommodated our group, gave us a table for our desserts, provided excellent service and food even though we took up the whole place! Everything was amazing and the staff were so friendly.

This was a great find. Food was amazing. Small cozy environment. Went for an early lunch on a Saturday and didn't have to deal with a big crowd. Reasonably priced. Less than $20 for meal and desset. Will definitely go again.
