Indian Road Campground

Located a mile north of the US 12 and US 287 junction in Townsend MT. Just off US 287 you'll find this quaint little camp and day use area with picnic tables, fire pits, grills and vault toilets. There's a walking trail around a small fishing pond and benches along the trail and access to the river. Some Road Noises plus the occasional frieght train and wildlife in the mornings.

This was a surprising little discovery we made while poking around Townsend. This campground has fishing ponds in the day use area for kids 14 and below and for anyone handi-capable. Bathrooms are close to the ponds and are clean. There are also nice pavilions for a picnic. There s a little trail that goes around the pond and lots of areas to access the water. Beware - there are signs that recommend that you don't swim....leeches. Also saw a snake in the water.

i live in Townsend and i love hiking, but some times you can't get into the hills. this sight has a great path around a nice pond and a couple laps feel good, then a walk down to the mighty Missouri river just hundreds of feet away. Beautiful place, in a perfect little town.

Nice little campground, some dirty campers but other than that a clean area. Nice little day use area too, spots made for tents or smaller rigs mainly, one big pull through next to the bathroom on the camping side.

Sweet overnight free spot on our way back home traveling from the Alaskan Highway. After a long day of driving it was cool to pull in and find a clean convenient spot like this. Vaults, pull over bulb out spots on a circular drive. Gravel roads. Oh...the train tracks are close, but we loved hearing it...goes great with a murder movie on the camper! Fell 4G 3 bars verizon.

Nice campground. Usually only do day use. Lots of "beach" front. Dogs supposed to be on leash, not enforced very well though. No real dock, but easy boat launch-probably not great for a boat requiring a deep launch.

Sleep and sleeping bags never will I go with out one. Could have slept thru a avalanch

Well maintained campground, got full by 8 pm on an August Wednesday night. Bad mosquitos for an hour at sunset, none otherwise.

This was a great place to stop along the roadside to take a little break from driving do some stretch in the legs and just walking and some talking

Great place to camp, it's free, has bathrooms and picnic tables.

Always stop here between Helena and Bozeman and vice versa
