Four Mounds was absolutely amazing and breathtaking!! The breakfast was absolutely incredible!! The rooms were gorgeous! Such a cute place tucked up in the woods. We had an amazing weekend with some good friends. We unfortunately didn’t walk any of the walking paths but we will definitely be coming back to stay here again and will take more time to walk around the property more!

We loved our stay at Four Mounds! We booked one room at the white house, but we had the whole house to ourselves. The property was serene, and quite pretty during the day. The staff were lovely at breakfast, and fun to talk to. I was expecting a little more food at breakfast, but it was nice that the food was made specifically for us. We ate with another group of people that stayed, which was nice. Overall, this was a wonderful place for a mini babymoon, and we would definitely do it again!

Very unique bed and breakfast (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) that's perched on the bluffs of the Mississippi River boasting panoramic views of the river north of Dubuque. Check-in was easy and staff were very responsive to inquiries. Breakfast was no frills and filling. Rooms were fairly spacious. Private location that's conveniently within a 10 minute drive of downtown Dubuque. Planning to return!

We have stayed at Four Mounds on many occasions. Our 1st stay was in the Marvin Gardens cabin. It’s a lovely rustic spot in a clearing overlooking the Mississippi River. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils for cooking, a beautiful (working) stone fireplace, and a lovely deck for enjoying morning coffee while watching the barges and boats moving up and down the river. The cabin was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. We have also stayed several times at the White House, in both the Master Suite and in Frindy’s Room. We even rented the whole house for a family reunion. It’s a lovely home, well cared for with comfortable beds, loads of charm and views of the Mississippi. Marie, the B&B manager is delightful. If you are looking for a one-of-kind, romantic, or off the beaten path place to stay, Four Mounds is the place!

Such history and beauty when walking through the rooms and on the land here. Amazing views and the service is spot on.

Two of us stayed in the cabin for a one night, midweek getaway. It was very clean and comfortable, it was great to have a wood fireplace on a snowy eve. Loved walking the trail and reading the signs about the beautiful property. We did not have the breakfast but enjoyed talking to Marie about the property; she clearly enjoys her job. Would definitely recommend it, and wish them success in the future.

The Marvin Gardens cabin is very clean and cozy, easy to find and great, responsive staff. Trails start right out the front door. Well stocked, we got the picnic basket with chicken salad sandwiches, very good. There's a Casey's down the road if you need supplies. Surprisingly good TV and wifi, easy to stream movies. Kids had a blast. Big wood fireplace, smells a bit like wood smoke of course but not a problem unless you are super sensitive. There are accurate pictures on the website.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Marie twice this month and both have been a wonderful experience. The properties are very well maintained, GORGEOUS, is an understatement. The venues natural light and secluded area offer so much to a variety of guests.

I’m a photographer in the area and shot a beautiful children’s session outside as well as inside. I also just photographed a wedding elopement. Everything was great and Marie made it extra special for us each time! Thank you and I can’t wait to work with you again!

My wife and I stayed at Four Mounds for one evening as an overnight guest and enjoyed the spacious and clean rooms. We felt very welcomed and breakfast was amazing. The innkeeper, Marie, is very knowledgeable about the Four Mounds property and the city of Dubuque and the area around it. The property itself is well maintained and overall is just a beautiful nature reserve with a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River.

Excellent!
We enjoyed the atmosphere. We stayed in the cabin. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and not always needing all the frills. The cabin was rustic, had everything you needed. Full kitchen, wifi, 55" tv, board games, back porch with again a great view, gas grill and even fire wood for the fireplace. In such a great spot. We had a beautiful view of the river right from our cabin. We enjoyed our anniversary here, very quiet and peaceful. Thank you so much Four Mounds!

We will be back, I'm sure of it!!

Absolutely stunning grounds and view of the Mississippi. We were blessed to be here in the fall and the colorful leaves were gorgeous. Don't forget your camera for this one....so many photo opportunities.

We loved our stay! We stayed in the white house in Frindy's room. The view from all 3 windows were magnificent. The lake from 2 windows and the grey house with beautiful fall changing leaves from a third window. We had a sitting room with a couch, two comfy chairs, and a t.v. we didn't need the t.v because the grounds were beautiful and we spent a lot of time in Galena about a half hour away. The drive was beautiful. The house itself has lots of character.

Fantastic location for a quiet get away, yet still close to town. White House is full of history and charm. The cabin is very spacious for a couple getting away for the weekend with a beautiful view of the mighty Mississippi.

This place is absolutely beautiful. We rented the whole property and used this as a wedding venue. Marie was incredibly helpful and went out of her way to make sure that our time there was easy and wonderful. The houses have been very well preserved as well.

I've been here for a wedding event and it was a pretty venue. Had plenty of space and was a cool spot for photos and things. Beautiful regardless of the season.

Beautiful property. Spacious rooms within a remarkable, histoey-rich home. Jill and Justice were great hostesses. The breakfast they prepared was outstanding. Five stars, for sure!

We stayed in the White House and had a great time. While there we ordered a picnic basket for two and a bottle of wine. The meal was great for a fresh fruit, sandwiches and chips. Our room looked out over the Mississippi Valley in the tranquil timber up River from downtown Dubuque.

Quiet and comfortable. Excisable fireplace in lobby. Excellent breakfast. Affordable. Shower didn't work so well. But considering it's a historical structure.

A superlative view of the Mississippi Valley's Pool 11. Great hiking trails. One of the best places for meditation.
