Southern Palace Chinese Restaurant

This WAS my favorite Chinese in Statesboro until I ordered last night, The hot and sour soup use to be full of ingredients but now it’s thickened with a sauce thickening and much less ingredients making one think it still a full filled soup when it’s not. The house Lomein noodles barely had any flavor and ingredients and doesn’t taste as it did before. We ordered for 6 people and NOTHING tasted like it use to. I loved when Miss Haun was in charge, the people she left in charge to run the business is going to run it in the ground. If this happens again- my 24 year customer love of their food will be done. This was not the first bad experience- I’m just now expressing after many recent fails.

Love it!! Private spot to relax and enjoy a delicious meal alone or with a guest. Clean, calm and respectful with great tasting food for any occasion 😋

Service not awful but limited. Take out only available so waited in line quite a while to pickup since they only have a drive thru window. Food was delicious!

don’t look any further this is the best Chinese food in statesboro. the 5 flavor chicken is a game changer.

Southern Palace is takeout only since the beginning of the covid pandemic. I have their number in my cell phone so I call in my order and pick it up in the drive through.

The food is good and usually it's no more than 15 minutes from order to driving away with my food. If I arrive and it's not ready, I park in a parking space to the side after paying at the drive through and when Ms. Han waves at me from the window, I walk over and pick it up.

My Chinese girlfriend likes the food as well.

I'd say that since it's a drive through, it's wheelchair accessible.

As for atmosphere, the parking lot is nice and being in your vehicle is pretty private if you want to cuddle a companion or two.

Statesboro local here- LOVED this place growing up then moved away for an awhile and now that I’m back, it’s still the best Chinese cuisine in town!! Massive food proportions, wonderful flavor combinations, and very fast service. I typically get general tso’s chicken;l: it has a spicy kick that I crave regularly! I always recommend Southern Palace when I’m asked. 10/10!!

FORGET any other chinese takeout place in statesboro. Come to Southern Palace. The old couple that run the place here will serve you great food at a great price. They are very sweet and clearly have passion for what they do in the kitchen. The meat portions are VERY generous, the sauces are wonderful, and the prices are great for what you get. Compared to the rest of the competition in Statesboro? They win by a landslide. :)

Update 8-27-21: drive thru only, no inside dining. The food is awesome here so I don't really care. Easier if you call in beforehand and place your order and just pickup a little later

Never been here before. I haven't had good Chinese in quite a while. Meal came with choice of won ton, egg drop, or hot & sour soup. I'm going back again. Prices are really good to.

I grew up in Statesboro and used to eat here when it was located in the old shopping center beside Moe's. I recently came back in town and saw they moved to the old Taco Bell. The food is great. I always get the sesame chicken. The lady that works there is extremely friendly.

Why I grade this old historic restaurant, 5 stars? Well. 1. The old couple run it or not? They are friendly people , and good food. That is not enough! I wasn't felt well that day that my sibling and I were there visited our folks . We loved the food and the chief cooked me hot soup for my cold. No extra charge!
Very kinds I never thought that business people cared for me. ( My points is take your family there and your friends and your co-workers! I strong recommend.

My wife and I have been here a few times in the last couple of years. Also taken the family here. Very good Chinese food. Chinese restaurants to me are a dime a dozen. Lot of average to below average ones out there. The food is super. Had General Tso's before. Egg drop soup. Southern Palace, over the last 6 months, got a low sanitation grade so we haven't been back. If they could get their grade back up to a 95 or better, we'd return.

Honey!!!! When I tell you they are my go to people they are the only place ill eat Chinese from. I've tired others in the area they are normally dry, don't fix it right, or just plain nasty. Not here!! It doesn't matter the time my food is always tasty and the staff is super friendly. Call in your order to save time since they don't have an actual drive thru and you'll have to wait. I generally go several times a month just to try different things so far its the teriyaki chicken with extra sauce and rice with no veggies if you needed to try something.

We were politely greeted as we entered the restaurant and then shown to our table. The two dishes that we chose (Happy Family and Broccoli Chicken) were delicious and served soon after our soups were served. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. My family and I look forward to eating there again soon!

Southern Palace was highly recommended after we moved to Statesboro and it never disappoints! The food is fantastic and consistently great, unlike other restaurants that are hit-or-miss. For a family of four, our go-to order is chicken with vegetables, sweet & sour chicken, and pork lo mein, with sides of fried rice. It is more than enough for dinner and we get lunch the next day from the leftovers. If we decide to go crazy on a Friday night, I'll add some egg rolls or wonton soup. I almost hate writing this review because I want to keep Southern Palace a little bit of a secret, but I can't in good conscious deprive anyone of the deliciousness.

Southern Palace is by far the BEST Chinese food I’ve ever had. While their appearance is questionable, I have not a single bad thing to say about their service or food. I have since moved from statesboro and have had Chinese food from 3 different places and it is nothing compared to the greatness of Southern Palace. Highly recommend their spring rolls, wonton soup, dumplings (steamed), and lo mein.

Absolutely delicious food and more than generous portions! Everything came out in a timely manner and the woman in charge was so sweet and helpful and so full of smiles! It’s dangerous for our waistline that we live so close! Haha! Will definitely be returning!!

We always order from SP when in the mood for Chinese food. The owners seem very friendly. Although there is a little bit of a language barrier, they definitely know how to talk about their menu! Decor inside is kinda meh, but it used to be a Taco Bell, so they have done a good job decorating with that in mind. They really appreciate good customers, and they might even throw in a freebie for large orders.
The only complaint I have is that a couple times now, their wonton soup has tasted oddly reminiscent of chlorine... don’t know what was up with that. Would recommend!

so delicious! we got takeout and it could not have tasted better. we were treated so well and the prices were fantastic for the quality of the food. if i could give southern palace 6 stars i would!

Had great service from a young girl with a great attitude and spunk! she really interacted with us and helped make the meal more enjoyable. In comparison to this great and “new” employee, her “boss” was very rude to her in front of the customers and was rude to customers via burping and making rude comments.

We’ve been customers for over twenty years now and we’ve never had a bad meal here. The vegetable dumplings are a must, the double cooked pork and five flavor chicken are favorites, and order the hot oil on the side for a nice spicy addition to almost any plate.
