Big Sky Restaurant

Very pleasant atmosphere, charming people, very polite. Definitely fine dining. Perfect date spot. Roughly $20-30 a plate, lots of bang for your buck as the portions are more than ample. Everything was beyond expectation.

Sean and Nancy are very welcoming and lovely in personality and craft. Lisa, our server was accommodating and a pleasure. The food was plenty and flavorful. Even the youngest of diners was satisfied. I will 10/10 come again.

Delicious food, extremely attentive and friendly staff. Creme brulee was out of this world.

Nice atmosphere and small enough to receive consistent service from the waitstaff. Food never seems to disappoint. Although pricey, my wife and I will continue to frequent.

The food is always delicious. My boyfriend and I went tonight and he had the best crab cakes he's ever had anywhere. He also called ahead (without my knowledge) to ask if they could make me something special. The accommodated us and whipped up a veggie dish with pasta that was very delicious. We both had dessert as well. The peach cobbler was so perfect. There was a salty taste to the crust that perfectly complimented the ice cream and peaches. He had a chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. It was as good as it sounds. This restaurant, hands down, has the best food in its class of any restaurant in Stoughton and Madison. If I had to find one thing to critique it would be that the squash I ate off my boyfriends plate was cold-but even cold it was good.

Oh what a random surprise this was, and boy was it good.

GF and I went to Viking Brew Pub but was super busy, saw this place was open across the street, looked up reviews, of course they're good, so we go.

Order our drinks THEN look at the menu and both of us were debating on leaving. Pretty expensive meals. Nothing under 20 dollars but we decided eh screw it, if they're charging prices like this and were able to survive covid-19 and the competition around Stoughton, it HAS to be good.

GF got some Chicken Terryaki with a habenero sweet sauce and jasmine rice. I don't know what or how he made that rice but, I'm 34 and I've never had rice that fluffy and airy. It was so light and perfect it was like scooping up clouds into your mouth. HOW DO YOU MAKE RICE THAT GOOD!?! ITS JUST RICE!! The chicken was very well cooked, not dry at all. The sauce....what a perfect blend of sweet and spicy, but not too spicy that it killed your tastebuds.

I got the shrimp scampi pasta. I don't think I've ever seen shrimp that big. I was a little disheartened to see it only had a few in the pasta and pulled one up and was like oh my god, I can just cut these guys into chunks. The sauce was perfect, just PERFECT. I'm a sucker for shrimp scampi and that butter garlic sauce was just heaven.

Oh I'm not done yet, lets talk about the bread they give you. I think it's sour dough? But they throw it into the oven when you get there. Comes out a very nice crispy crust but the inside is just pillow soft. We were geeking out over the bread the entire time.

The service? Incredible. Waiter was fun and attentive. The wife of the chef was out checking on people, when we told her how good the food was, she brought her husband out (the chef) to introduce him and we just unloaded on his ears about how good the food was.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? OH, HELL, YES.

I've never eaten at an upscale place like this before, so maybe I don't understand how it works, but we ordered a bottle of wine but it came 3/4 full. I assumed when you order a bottle of wine you'd get the whole thing.

We’ve been there twice, it is one of the absolutely best places we have ever been!!! The food is totally “through the roof” and Shawn and his wife are very welcoming and lovely people to talk to!!! If you are in the area you have to go!!! The plates are a bit expensive but absolutely worth the money!!! Shawn isn’t your normal cook, he is a high end chief!

Outstanding meal. Everything cooked perfectly. All fresh ingredients. Homemade desserts that are out of this world. Salmon & scallop special was delectable. Chef & his wife are excellent hosts.

A gem of a restaurant and worth the short drive out of the city. I will compare this restaurant to the well-known Rare on Madison Capitol square. The chef of Big Sky is very talented and producing high-end gourmet food with beautiful presentations.
The dinners are of superb quality ingredients, including grass fed beef which high end restaurants in Madison do not offer, for the most part.
6 people had dinner with wine 4 less than the cost of two people eating similar dinners at Rare. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate and occasion I highly recommend Big sky restaurant in Stoughton for above-average quality food ingredients fresh from the farm.

Food was excellent. If you want a truly unique dining experience, you need to dine at big sky. The food is fresh and from local business. No frills just great food. The deserts are home made too.

We came from new Orleans to visit my son and his wife for Christmas. He suggested your restaurant and I'm so glad he did your restaurant is outstanding highly recommend . And next year we will have six of us for Christmas our new beautiful grandbaby.

Appropriately friendly staff, cozy interior, and spectacularly good food for a fair price. If you live in Stoughton, it should be considered your obligation and priority to eat here as soon as possible. Their food can go toe-to-toe with many of the finer restaurants in Madison. Well worth the trip for anyone living in Madison.

Great local venue showcasing a fantastic local chef with high quality dishes. You get what you pay for in taste and hospitality. I go once a week.

Possibly my favorite place to eat locally. Owners are incredible with menu and service. Trust their judgement on menu choices and order with confidence

The mussel and clams with pesto over pasta was fabulous. Tenderloin steak was very good. Service top notch.

Super great place to eat, Nancy the owner was very nice and treated the 4 of us to creme brule', which was a treat in its self
