Beach access #6 is the way to go, only if you have a 4x4 vehicle! This was the best place to go fishing off of the beach, but as other reviewers have said, you do need to drive a while north along the beach to get away from the crowd, hence the 4-wheel drive vehicle. Once you go 3-4 miles north, you won't see many people at all and there is very little traffic (except those traveling to and from the jetty). I aways carried a tow rope in my vehicle because it seemed that many times someone thought they could navigate with a 2-wheel drive vehicle, and I would pull them out. Perhaps I only ran into the 2-wheel drive vehicles that got stuck? I also carried an air pump because I found that I had the best traction in the sand, even with a 4x4, was with around 18-20 PSI air pressure in the tires, max. I never got stuck and could drive over sand dunes all day long if the high tide came in and blocked me from driving on the beach. Of course, you got to air them back up once you hit the road, hence the need for an air pump. Regardless, it is clean and the fishing is usually good. It almost always windy so if you are camping in a tent, get some long stakes to get deep in the sand. Texas Game Wardens and other law enforcement do cruise the beach, so keep your fishing license nearby. Cell phone signals are very spotty as you go north, but I found if you climb to the top of a sand dune, you can generally, not always, get a signal.

Easy in/out, they give garbage bags and did cleaning in our area and seen others cleaning also. There was even an ice cream truck going through and then a nachos truck driving through.

Very nice beach ! No charge after September 1st ,but be aware ! The entrance in this pic has deep ruts in the loose sand so you really need a 4x4 to get thru the entrance or get a good fast start but after that stay close to wet sand and you'll be alright ! You can drive 26 miles north down the beach to Port Mansfield canals .

Loved this beach area. Husband and wife both went and loved the fact that it felt so free. When the pay station closes to drive on the beach you are still allowed to drive on for free, eventually we say the local lifeguard cops escort people off the beach who were driving but I’m not sure if they would both you if you kept going far out like towards the ufo beach section. When it comes to parking on the road and walking and setting up a small site it appears others had non fires going as we were leaving and the sun was down so it appears you can be out there at night as well. Overall, clean ocean water and nice sand and some long desires freedom to come and go as you please makes this area a 5 star review.

If you're going to SPI, this is the best beach access if you don't want to have to walk and haul all your stuff. We really liked being able to drive on the beach and park. Yes, it cost $12 ($14 but they give you 2$ back if you're a decent human and pickup after yourself) but for us the $$ was worth it. We had a comfortable setup with steps from the water and spent several hours at the beach enjoying our time.
I will say.....we got some Elote from one of the MANY food trucks that go by and it was disgusting 🤢
Maybe just the luck of the draw, and I don't remember which truck it was but it was like $16 and we took one bite and threw it right in the trash. Something was really wrong with that corn..
Anyway, beach access is great!

This side of the beach never been this far but oh my so relaxing few people you have alot of space to yourself the only problem would be crossing where the cars pass to go to the water other than nothing wrong and tgeres vans out there selling merchandise like snacks and floaties

Replace it just hang out with the guys have some beers, barbecue and do a little fishing. Just make sure you have your fishing license.

Nice and not crowded. People have to learn not to park or set up across from the sand driving lane..

Let's go fishing! I get on the beach here and stop at various places up to 14 miles so far. Always come home with a cooler full of fish.
