Oceanique

I would give Oceanique 4.5 stars. I attended Evanston’s version of Chicago’s Restaurant Week with a couple of friends.

As always, the fish was prepared to perfection. The house appetizer and pate were delicious, and the in between courses sorbet a welcome touch.

The chef occasionally comes out to exchange a few words with the mostly tipsy and aging crowd, a very nice gesture.

The place is old school, not a bad thing, but the decor, carpet in particular, could use a revamp. The nostalgia is nice but feels a bit melancholy. Perhaps that’s the half star, which is so subjective, ambiance, but also the prices for small portions, though the place seems to take pride in that exclusivity… but then upgrade the flooring please 😬 (to be fair, one of my companions loved the lived-in old school vibe).

Classy restaurant in Evanston with high quality cuisine. Servers were also spectacular! Restaurant is family owned and operated, with Chef Mark Grosz and his wife, Renee Andre. The chef came out several times during the evening to personally check on patrons.

For saffron lovers, I highly recommend the bouillabaisse. Family enjoyed the Salmon, Walleye and Filet Mignon. We also ordered quite a few desserts (not pictured as the family dove in before I could snap photos 😂).

For a group of 6 we spent $750 including tip so expect to dish out some cash for a full experience. This is not a place you can skimp.

It was our first experience in fancy restaurants in Chicago. And it was fantastic. Love food, love atmosphere, love servers. All aspects were very high quality. But you need to know that tips are necessary in this place, just not to be surprised.

Terrific seafood focused restaurant run by Chef Mark Grosz. All the fish is wonderfully prepared and other dishes are equally delectable. The bouillabaisse is a favorite of my husband's I lean towards the fish preparations. Save room for dessert. It's worth it!

Excellent excellent excellent! Exceeded expectations in every way. The 5 course tasting menu was so perfectly flavored - definitely going to be our new go to nice dinner restaurant! We had the the salmon tartare amuse bouche, lobster salad, peach sorbet palate cleanser, sea bass, and a pumpkin and chocolate cream dessert. It was all delicious!!

In addition to amazing food. the team there was just lovely and thoughtful. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. We will return and highly recommend it to others!

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a really classy joint. The interior dining room makes you feel like a million bucks. The service and the food formed an elevating experience, worth every penny.

We truly enjoyed this culinary journey and appreciated the excellent service by all of the staff!

Very nice restaurant with an emphasize on sea food!

Good idea to purchase the Groupon 5-course tasting menu option in advance, which can save you a 100 dollars. If not purchasing anything else other than the tasting menu, the total price is about 70 dollars per person (Groupon purchase fee included).

Not like other French restaurants, you will get really full here😄

We were here with friends and we had a 5 course prix fixe menu. Everything was beautifully presented, very fresh and very tastey. Service was attentive. They had no problem adjusting for a food sensitivity in a manner that did not impact the meal.

Credit to Chef Mark, Pete and Braulio who totally spoiled us with phenomenal food and attentive, professional service. Their playlist is another thing that hit the spot besides your appetite.
Start to finish, it was non stop surprises. If you are a wine person, you'll spend hours to explore their wine selection.
Fresh oysters, beet goat cheese salad, swordfish, lobster, scallops, lamb.. all is too good to be true. You can't miss it

I dined at Oceanique for my birthday during Restaurant Week, so my friend and I enjoyed a special three-course menu. I had the striped bass and my friend had swordfish. We finished with the pot de crème. Everything was a-maz-ing! Harry was our waiter, and the service was impeccable.

I just don’t think I’m going to have enough space here! My husband and I went to Oceanique for the first time last Friday, and to say we were floored is a vast understatement. Everything about this restaurant is STELLAR. Food was out-of-this-world, ambience was warm and charming, and the service could not be beat. We had a Groupon and they didn’t make us feel awkward at all about using it. I’m sad we didn’t have time to try the pastries everyone talks about but it gives us good reason to go back. DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT and remember they are participating in Restaurant Week:)

Great food and excellent service. All the food was hot, fresh, and simply delishes. Staff was incredibly nice. Clean. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Oceanique at Maine street Evanston, we have a great dinner, service, decor, food all excellent, thank you so much entire team for hospitality. Best wine menu I ever seen, they everything that I like. We choose 5 courses chief dinner which normally cost 80$ per person, but we get amazing Groupon deal and pay almost 50% off of our check.

Celebrated my daughters 30th birthday Wednesday night at Oceanique, and it was fabulous. Every bite was not only beautiful/instagram worthy, but absolutely delicious. Superb service, quietly elegant dining room. We didn’t have a chance to order a bottle off their celebrated wine list, but wines by the glass were solid. The perfect restaurant for a special celebration.

This restaurant by far was an amazing experience. The food and service were very good.

We have been going here for years and it's always great. We get the Chef's Tasting menu on Groupon and it never disappoints!!

Made reservations for a celebratory family dinner. We were greeted by Harry, the Hospitality Mgr and promptly seated at our table. Not for a moment did we want for anything. Upon being seated we were immediately asked for our desired libations , water and bread were promptly served as well. The specials were offered, orders taken, wine tastes inquired upon and suggested wine pairings made. I must say that we were ALL most impressed with our selections. Food was absolutely phenomenal and the service spectacular. We were personally checked in on by Owner and Chef Mark Grosz, several times throughout our experience. The experience left us all wanting for words. You will not be disappointed, Oceanique not only delivers on food and service but it delivers the complete experience of what fine dining should always be.

My wife and I came to Oceanique during Restaurant Week 2019. Their specialty is French and American Cuisine. The food was great. We dined on their fixed dinner menu of various fish dishes. The place is very warm and inviting. The service was excellent. Parking is not a problem. Lots of street parking available or you can valet your car. The restaurant is a little pricey outside of Restaurant Week 2019, but it is well worth it. This is a place where you want to celebrate a special event in your life with that special someone. Enjoy!

Literally the best food I have eaten! Staff is super friendly while being knowledgeable. Comfortable seating for an extremely enjoyable meal over 2 hours.
