The Machine Shed's wonderful food and service keep me coming back when I travel to Iowa. The complimentary applesauce bread is amazing, and the family style sides are very good. The coleslaw is crisp and flavorful, the cottage cheese is creamy, and the cinnamon apples are served warm and delicious. There is a large selection of pork entrees, but they also have steak, chicken, and seafood. Try the homemade deserts if you manage to save room, or grab one to go. I love the carrot cake. One 5 layer piece completely fills a large carryout box!

My first time there and we WILL go back! We chose the lunch special plus the potato skin appetizer. I make messy salads so took a pic of hubby's salad to show the actual food really does look appetizing lol. The lunch special included the salad bar plus pork tips with fries and streamed veggies. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, tasted great! Our server was fun, the atmosphere spacious and clean.... you can even shop for gifts in the gift store. Yup.... we'll be back!

The food was top quality, with generous servings. The sweet rolls could easily serve 2. The server was cheerful and accommodating, and the atmosphere? Just loved it! If you love country, farming, and food, you're sure to like it here!

Was referred by this place from my coworkers and now am referring it to everyone! Such a cozy place for weekend breakfasts. Lots to choose from on the menu, incredibly welcoming staff, fun gift shop to explore and all around a perfect place to stop if you’re visiting Iowa/Quad Cities. LOVED IT!!

This may be our new 'go to' place when we travel out west. We stopped last year for lunch during a vacation out west. Had great experience. So, we stopped this time too. Again, a great experience.
Parking is plentiful, access on/off interstate no problem. A restaurant that is 'homey' in atmosphere and food. Great selections. A large salad bar. Large restaurant that can accommodate large groups. A gift shop with various amenities.
We had soup (tasted like mom just made), pot pie (wonderful and plentiful of chicken, veggies and gravy) with side of cottage cheese (very sufficient amount) and wife had salad bar and soup. Everything flavorful and not overly seasoned. Waitstaff was quick, refilling iced tea when needed, and bringing food quickly. She had a great personality too.
My mouth is watering just thinking about the selections.

Wow, it's the first time ever eating here. This is a Midwest regional restaurant that serves homemade, homestyle comfort food. My wife and I ordered a BBQ brisket potato skins appetizer, which was so tasty. Then, for the main meal, she had a bowl of baked potato soup, roast turkey, dressing with gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I had the pork sampler of true pork tenderloin, pork loin w/ dressing, and herb crusted pork chop, baked sweet potato, and greenbeans.
If we had realized how much food of "fixens," where you pick two of three items (cottage cheese, warm cinnamon apples, or creamy coleslaw) that can refilled, the main course with a potato and vegetable of the day that comes with each meal.... Holy smokes. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. Then, the dessert choices, huge hunks of cake, pies, and decadent warm apple dumpling. Prices were not too bad, but definitely not an eat there 3 times a day place. But it was worth every penny. We had enough for lunch the next day. Everything was good for my wife and I. We will definitely be back. Oh, they also give a wagon ride with a tractor when it's warmer.

This place is Iowa! Everything from the jar drinking glasses to the menu is well thought out. There's toy trackers and crayons for kids to play with. The menu has a lot of choices. Not a ton for vegetarians but I enjoyed skillet cauliflower, pretzels, cooked apples, bread and cottage cheese. My husband loved the BBQ brisket sandwich (smoked 18 hours) and french fries with sides. The gift shop is adorable. Loved the selection. The overall atmosphere was fun.

Was driving through and found this place and wasn't disappointed. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was unique. Would recommend if you're passing through and want some home-cooking style food.

Okay, now I know why this place is always busy! First time dining at this establishment and I’m surprised I haven’t tried this place before. Food was delicious! I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries and slaw. The sandwich was tasty and not soggy at all! A mistake most restaurants in the QC area make is not squeezing the sauerkraut, thus leaving the sandwich soggy and unappetizing so I thank you Machine Shed for getting that right. The coleslaw was fresh and creamy and the fries were tasty as well. And as good as the meal was, it wasn’t the star of the night, that title goes to the amazing bread pudding. OMG!!!! First off, it’s hard enough to find any establishment that even offers bread pudding let alone one that does it extremely well! I added cinnamon ice cream to the order and with the first bite, instant smile on my face! It was soooooooo good!! I was on a date night with my fiancé who doesn’t like bread pudding from previous experiences yet I was able to talk her into trying it and let’s just say she had more than that one bite😂 I give service 4 stars only because I was never asked if my drink needed refilled and never received any straws. Aside from that, our server was pleasant and always smiling. 3 stars for atmosphere because it was insanely loud. As if everyone were trying to talk over one another. I felt like they needed someone there with a whistle to calm the crowd. Which was surprising to me considering this restaurant has a lot of older customers. All in all, we will be back to try other items on the menu and I will have another date night…..With that bread pudding! 😂

This is our 1st time here and OMG its so welcoming. Great servers even bus boys were so nice and friendly. The bread and warm apple before your meal is awesome and delicious. Our waitress Tammy was Perfect and so sweet! Love her! The Ribeye and Prime rib was exquisite and sides even better! The idea of a restaurant serving all locally farmed food is too fantastic!! Keep up the Amazing work!! We love it!!

Three of us went here right after work. Mallory was our server, and she was excellent. I had endless fried chicken, which did come to an end, but it was great, nonetheless.

Environment was very fun 😊 Carol was a great waitress! Food was delicious, just VERY expensive? I was on a business trip for work from Chicago, thought I was paying downtown Chicago prices... I'd definitely go back! Just not everyday.

Got the sirloin this time. Very tough but cooked perfectly. Definitely get the Parmesan crusted pork filet. Tender as can be and oh so flavorful. Have to say food not quite as tasty as last time a couple years ago. Cute interior and little gift shop. Potato soup came out after my husband’s dinner and not enough potato but thick with flour. We would eat there again for sure. Right off route 80 and we stop on the way home from visiting family in Colorado. Upgrade your steak to the next grade like the ribeye. Sirloins are iffy anywhere but this one was quite tough. Seasoning was tasty as was a perfect medium.

This was my 3 visit to the Machine Shed. Each time has been very nice. This time, I was with a party of over 30 people.

Even with this large group the service was amazing. All people in the party received their drinks promptly. The meals came hot and tasty with plenty for hearty appetites.

One stumbling point was there were not any marked vegetarian options, which makes sense since this is a steak and BBQ place. No worries, the chef prepared an over-the-top exceptional dish just for me. It was worth bragging about, even to the meat eaters!

Oh, and be sure to order dessert, but one per table. You'll have plenty for everyone. They are HUGE and oh so delicious!

Breakfast is so delicious there. I had the Farmer's Benedict with hashbrown casserole. I ate about half...portions are huge! My husband had the Hungry Man's Breakfast. 2 large plates of food. They also have some lighter options. Everything was great!

The Machine Shed has exceptional country decor to make your visit interesting.
My waitress was polite, attentive, and did a good job overall. She stopped by often to check on me, but not too often to be a bother. She bought my tasty "barnyard punch" quickly and accommodated my every need.
The food was good and not so good. The bread was very tasty, especially the brown bread. I tried the coleslaw, but it tasted of too much vinegar and not enough sugar. The overcooked vegetables did not have a fresh appearance; I could not finish them.
The loaded baked potato was piping hot and good taste but may have been kept warm for too long. I did come towards the end of the evening, so a held over baked potato comes with the timing.
My steak was cooked medium rare as requested with only 2 small bits of fat I could not chew. The stuffing and sauce it was tpped with was flavorful and a good combination. Unfortunately, the meat dish should have been warmer to start.
All in all, it's a nice place to grab a tasty dinner. I will come another time and try a sandwich meal.
There is a very nice country store in the front of the restaurant with a large variety of decorative and functional items for sale. Mostly kitchen items and gifts.

Jada was my server. She was very pleasant. Food was good. Pork Chop was a little overcooked but sauce was great.

There was plenty of parking and it was fairly empty around 5pm on Saturday night. We did call ahead and make a reservation. You may want make a reservation as well as it got busy pretty within the hour. We ordered the mac and cheese with brisket and the chicken strips with fries for our 6 year old. We were able to pick fixins. We got the apples and cottage cheese. The bread was soft and delicious. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was great! Would love to go back if I'm ever in the area again!
