An interesting place that is a must visit when passing through this town. A nice woman gave my children Route 66 badges, they were happy. But the War Museum, located in this building on the second or third floor, made a great impression on me. For reasons unknown to me, this museum is not very popular in Google maps, but it is there and you should pay attention to this place. You won't find anything like it for thousands of miles!

Great 66 stop! This museum was very interesting, the staff friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. Gift shop was very nice and reasonably priced. Don't forget to check out the murals on the back of the building and around the block.

On my way to Oak Brook, I stopped in Pontiac City because I've always wanted to view the Route 66 Museum and Hall of Fame. It brought back a lot of memories and allowed me to visualize the golden days of Mother Road. I also appreciate viewing the military uniform collection at the war museum. A must visit site. Come to Pontiac, Illinois, if you want to learn about Old Route 66, is my strongest recommendation. After my visit, I also create two YouTube videos to share with my friend. Have Fun!

It wasn't yet open when we passed through so I followed the footprints painted on the sidewalk to take pictures of as many murals as I could. I've always been a huge Bob Waldmire fan and was so happy to see his bus parked outside with an informative pre-recorded audio. The people around here are very friendly.

Excellent place to visit ! A bunch of really interesting stuff. Don't miss going to the military museum on the third floor; they have at least 75 uniforms from actual soldiers from wwI to present, and each has a description of the person's military history that is very humbling because not all of them made it home alive! I was brought to tears reading many of their stories! The museum is free, but the military part has a donation box and I would encourage everyone who visits to donate so they can continue to honor all of the heroes that have served so that we can enjoy our freedom in this country! On a lighter note, the vw van was the inspiration for the movie cars. Read the sign in the front window!

There were three floors of things to see. The admission is free with a freewill donation. It worth a nice donation.

The museum complex has many facilities and museums. Route 66 Hall of Fame is also here. A variety of materials and exhibits provide plenty of sights. It has a toilet and admission free. The Pontiac Information Center is a great place to get a lot of information.

Very informative place, we were able to meet the son of a Purple Heart recipient who fought on the beaches of Normandy. They have uniforms on manikins with pictures of the soldiers who wore them, along with the ribbons they earned.
Lots of photos of iconic buildings along Route 66.

So many artifacts and memorabilia of Historic Route 66. The bonus was an entire floor dedicated to honoring all military with many personal stories shared. Retired vets were on hand to showcase that which one would not want to have missed.
