The Congregation has excellent coffee and delicious soups. The atmosphere is some of the coolest I’ve seen for any coffee shop. I stayed here for a few hours to get some studying done and absolutely loved it. I got the soup of the day and a regular hot coffee with oat milk. It was delicious! The only thing I’d say to be cautious about is that there is a 2 hour limit for WiFi services. I think they do this to allow more customers to come inside and enjoy the scenery. Other than that, it was a great experience. Will definitely come back to this place many more times!

One of the coolest coffee shops I have ever been to! Delicious coffee with a very unique atmosphere. Plenty of seating and would be a perfect place to post up and get some work done. They had run out of bagels when we were there which was a bummer. They also didn’t have avocado toast as was previously posted on here.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Cool vibe, artisanal foods and just the most amazing coffee I’ve ever had. The orange spiced espresso tonic is maybe the best coffee drink I’ve ever had. And Conor loved the sarsaparilla shakerato, like a root beer coffee, he says. Every choice here is calculated, planned and well thought out. The ambiance is perfect, some unexpected balance between cozy coffee shop and happy hour spot. I love coming here, so happy this place exists in Detroit.

The vibes: immaculate. The coffee: divine! This is a great place to chill and get some breakfast before devoting time downtown. You’ll worship their house coffee and pray that they still have some donuts left! Sit and reflect in the pews while indulging in the gorgeous views. Great spot!

Stopped in on our way home from our wonderful visit. So beautiful! I had a honey vanilla latte with cinnamon! So good! You can order from your phone right at one of those comfy seats. 10/10 recommend

This is my kind of place of worship, and worship I do.
Coffee, cocktails, a truly cool and unique environment, tons of pop-up events, AND delicious food?! Count me in.

A lot of people come here to get work done as well and there's a ton of outdoor seating when it's nice out.

My friends and I like to come for "work remote Fridays" so we can go from productive to grabbing a drink without relocating.

I had an amazing time at the Congregation. I wish I found out about this sooner. I would’ve been studying there in the mornings. They seem to have quite a few events as well throughout the month. I also did the rotating flavors that I have. I ordered breakfast use the Wi-Fi had a chai tea latte and was able to meet couple new people bonus.

They are rotating art around as well that was available for purchase, which I thought was pretty cool. It was an amazing day to be outside. However, I couldn’t ignore the energy that was inside as well. I will be back and hopefully use this place regularly to study.

Unique coffees/teas and adult beverages. They truly support other local businesses hosting a farmers market in the summer/fall. Indoor play area for young children. Beautiful outdoor seating. Live music. Across the street from a playground and canopied area with even more seating. Every interaction I have had with staff has been nothing short of excellent. Also the interior is beautiful.

Amazing old building repurposed for a welcoming vibe. Shared and individual seating using old pews, stained glass, and even the pipe organ. Outside and indoor seating. High ceilings, music volume, and furnishings along with the arrangement of the seating allow for conversations without yelling.
Trusty classics and unique seasonal food, alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks.
Patrons are welcome and fun conversation or diligent work can be accomplished.

The option to order from the table is a good option so you can sit as you walk in. The coffee is good and the food is alright, I had the avocado toast. There is street Parking available when visited. I can only imagine how good it is in summer with a lot of outdoor seating area. The vibe is nice and an interesting place. I think it was a church

(Plant-based reviewer) This place was amazing! Beautiful, unique building - it just had a really great feel to it, I'm guessing because it used to be a church 😊 I had the chickpea sandwich which was delicious. I heart dill and they use an excellent multi-grain bread and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. They also offer a veggie sandwich and avocado toast which I look forward to trying in the future. They have a full coffee bar with plenty of milk alternatives, as well as a fully stocked bar. Love the large, beautiful outdoor seating area! Highly recommend this spot.

The only thing that would make the Congregation better is for it to be open more.

It is a real gem and a great Sunday destination. Easy location off of the Lodge, the food is great, and the setup of the Cafe makes it a really great place to meet friends and family.

The menu has something for everyone.

It's a great choice at night for a light snack since they're open until 9p most nights.

Was in the area so decided to stop by and so glad I did. They have lots of unique flavors that I throughly enjoyed. I loved my pear bagel and chai with carrot cake syrup. I ordered online and they waited to put ice in my drink until I was there so it wouldn't get watered down. If I was a living in Detroit, I could see myself becoming a regular.

One of my favorite spots for coffee in the city. I love just giving my friends the address and having them show up. The atmosphere is always fun and relaxing, and the people who work here always seem to know what I want. The drinks are really good and the food and pastries are so yummy.

Loved the ambience of the coffee shop. Ordered the regular latte and Detroit fog one of their signature drinks . Initially was skeptical about ordering the Detroit fog since it contained cinnamon sprinkles but turned out be the best drink of choice for the evening . Nice place to work on the projects or assignments. Great service and overall would totally recommend it

If you’re looking for a unique cafe, this is a must-see! The beautiful converted church has so much history and it’s remarkable what they’ve done with the place. The coffee is delicious and while I didn’t order any food on my first visit, I would definitely come back to try it because everything sounded great.

Such a unique, fun place with an awesome story behind it. I really enjoyed it, the prices on drinks were pretty on-par with other shops which I think it's fair pricing. Got an iced lavender latte and the flavor was incredible! Lots of other shops put too little or too much lavender, but this had a great floral taste to it, delicious. Worth the trip!

Awesome coffee and amazing food. We went there around noon on a Saturday and it was busy but we still got seats. We ordered toddy, spicy mocha latte, salmon bagel and Brie with bread. The food was amazing! This place used to be a church and the exterior is still intact. The interior has been well-preserved as well and you can still see the organ and the stained glass windows. Overall, an excellent find!

My first time here was as a vendor for their market in the basement. It easily became my new favorite space for several reasons.

1. Staff. Every employee was kind, personable and always moving. You can tell they truly enjoy working there.

2. Coffee/food. I ordered a hazelnut latte and appreciated the balance - it wasn’t overly sweet like most places. I had a chocolate croissant and immediately wished I ordered a salad after seeing another vendor with one.

3. Community. They support local small businesses - along with the market, they had a live band and hosted yoga class in the morning. I met a lot of guests who said they’ve been going there since open in 2020 and what kept them coming back was community.

4. Vibe. The aesthetic and materials used are welcoming and industrial. The high ceilings and natural light were a dream. Stained glass and blueprint on the walls were a perfect touch.

11/10 recommend going here solo or with friends and to keep up with the incredible events they offer. Can’t wait to go back!

Beautifully redone building with indoor and outdoor seating. My “almost daily” stop since 2020. Has good coffee, sandwiches, cocktails, salad, etc. something for everyone and has become a community anchor through additional events hosted here. Strongly recommended. I wish they would not so vigorously increase their prices and would re-introduce Brie LT 😊
