Nitty Gritty-Madison

We went here in November for a pre Badgers game dinner, and I was impressed with how good their bar food was! There was a 45 minute wait initially to be seated, but the staffing so efficient it was much quicker than that. I ordered the Raspberry Chipotle burger which sounds odd and it was definitely out of my comfort zone but it was so good, I will keep ordering that every time I go! I also really liked their cheese curds.

I was also happy that my wife had gluten free options for customers with celiac disease, and the staff made sure to check with the kitchen staff to make sure her order was safe. I don't remember what she ordered, but she was happy with her food!

I absolutely love this restaurant alots! The foods were yummy and waitresses were outstanding. They have an awesome picture to look at on the wall. This place only 2 minutes walk from Kohls Center.
I amaze they offer variety birthday treats and other stuff.
It is MUST COME to celebrate your Birthday!!!!
Atmosphere is cool with tv and good music.

Shocked - in a good way! Ordered via Grubhub. The presentation of the food was top notch. Burgers are HUGE. Everyone in my group was pleasantly surprised. 5 stars for sure!

Great food! It's a funky kinda bar thing, bonus points on coming on your actual birthday. Focus on milkshakes and sandwiches.
The food was amazing! We tried Reuben sandwich and Farmer's Market Burger in gluten free version. That shoulder bacon... and the onion jam...! It's to die for, it was absolutely delicious. Happy we chose to go with coleslaw because we probably wouldn't move after fries and all that incredible food.
They also have extensive gluten free menu, including gluten free buns.

The Nitty Gritty in Madison is definitely a college bar, but even as a working professional I had a great time there. The atmosphere was friendly and lively, and the drinks were great. I didn't try any of the food, but I saw other people eating and it looked delicious.

I would definitely recommend the Nitty Gritty to anyone looking for a fun and casual place to have a drink in Madison. It's a great place to meet new people and people-watch. Just be prepared for a crowd, especially on weekends.

Fun place with good food. Plus they were open on Easter which is when we were in town for a college tour the next day.

Good variety of choices from "bar food" to "diner fiod". I would eat here again.

Great place! Super busy when we were here and service was top notch. Our group was kept with drinks in front of us. Great selection on the menu with some interesting options. The food was excellent. No one in our group was disappointed with what they ordered. Definitely recommend checking this place out and getting some cold drinks and awesome food.

Had a great time hanging out there before the Badger BB game on Sunday. The place was packed, wall to wall people, yet the wait staff were amazing!! Particularly Sonia, she rocked. Not only did she provide amazing service to use, she took the time to talk to a table of "old folks." Thanks for your time and service Sonia, you enhanced an already great experience!

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night, not realizing there was a hockey game starting soon. The place was PACKED. Still, the bartenders were hustling their butts off and somehow we didn't have to wait for a drink. The place cleared out as people left for the game. We ended up having a great meal, with great service, surrounded by great atmosphere.

Our server Elizabeth was excellent. Good food, bloodies and beers!

5 stars! The Nitty Gritty is a gem! From the lively music to the delicious plant-based burgers and milkshakes, this place has it all. Manager Jadon went above and beyond to make our experience special. If you're looking for a great meal and great service, look no further!

The nitty-gritty looks to be a repurposed a warehouse or manufacturing site? Pretty cool-looking and a lot of room.
The three of us ordered a sandwich each with mine being a salmon sandwich. All we're enjoyed and I also had the loaded chili. Yum, great place to go.

We visited on a busy Friday night. If you're coming for the best fish fry, this is not your spot. The fish was good but not great. If you're coming for entertaining people watching and an exciting atmosphere, this is your spot. The college kids are enjoying their time out and making it an entertaining Friday night.

Both times I've been there, they've had great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Gluten-free buns are always available, and they have a designated fryer to avoid cross contamination.

So very good! First time visiting NG and it was awesome. I had the Farmers Market burger with the white cheddar cheese curds.

All of it was so good! Next time I wanna try the chicken sandwich, but definitely recommend the Nitty Gritty!

I recently threw a surprise birthday party for my husband’s 60th and all of my planning with the folks at the Nitty Gritty paid off! They were cooperative and flexible and the service we had that day was fantastic.

Great place. Hailie was our server and she was AMAZING. Michael at the door made us feel so welcome.

The Nitty Gritty is a family fun restaurant. They have my favorite cheese curds now. I went there on my mom's birthday she wanted the black bean burger unfortunately it was too salty. (As you can see the burger is below). But that won't stop us from returning. This is her second time there and she loved the experience and the traditional birthday mug plus small sundae. I loved having the cheese quesadilla. Also I ordered my favorite shake ( the orange cream milkshake) which was amazing. My sister has been at the Nitty Gritty multiple times including on her 20th birthday, and each time she has gotten the grilled cheese. A great family food place to eat at.

AMAZING price on their drinks after 8pm/10pm! They are known for celebrating birthdays!
