I love CPC Highpoint. They taught me alot. I left that school in eighth grade. I spentered almost 4 years in that school and I can tell you, I learned alot. All the teachers, councilors, and students treated me very nicely. Even my parents love CPC. I went through so many schools, but I have to say, CPC was the best. I will always remember that school.

I attended this school many years ago 1994-1997 and after reading the reviews I’m confident it hasn’t changed much. In my experience the counselors cared more then most. There were some good teachers some I wish I could I could find but good luck with only being “allowed” to know FIRST names and better luck trying to think of it down the road!! the principal (Wanda) at the time how ever was a complete train wreck. The restraint room and beings held down or “restrained” wasn’t always necessary obviously I wasn’t the best kid that’s why I was in that school to begin with so yes I got into a lot of fights and altercations but there were plenty of times when aggressive force was used and not needed but I was bad ….so who really cared ? I can understand trying protect a child from them selves and others but forcing them to the ground and holding them with your knees while already in a locked padded room is really over kill!!! No real way to deal with frustrating situation as a child when you know any sudden movements or outbursts and you’re going down!! Followed by something called “staff watch” meaning a teacher follows you and where you go and waits out side the bathroom- Real confidence building experiences… Again some teachers and even one “monitor” really gave a hoot and tried at least with me. My child with special needs would never attend this school under my watch!! I went on to graduate from coastal learning Center in Morganville which is no longer there but was a far better experience even with their horrible reputation then CPC was hands down!!!

I go to this school and it’s really bad like kids make fun of me and I tell on them and my teacher says stop and that’s it the kids don’t get in trouble and teachers here favorite kids and I suggest you don’t come here don’t listen to the other reviews. Also the school lunch may sound good but it’s actually really bad and kids are so rude to

I don't know if they still operate the way they did when I was in their elementary school from 1988 to 1994, but the memory that stands most firm and vivid in my mind is how they used to physically assault us on a nearly daily basis for misbehaving, even when that misbehavior was not violent in nature. They had staff members whose entire job was to do this. They called it restraining, which consisted of grabbing a kid's wrists, wrapping the kid's arms across their chest, and pulling their arms back. The effect was pain in the wrists, shoulders, and chest, and a feeling of suffocation as it made it very difficult to breathe. They did this to me and other students regularly. They would do it in the classroom or hallway for everyone to see but they also had a room with padding on the walls and floors, which they called the crisis room, just for this activity. The last time they "restrained" me was for not filling out a math worksheet. I wasn't making noise, nor bothering anyone. I just refused to do the worksheet and they pulled me out of my chair and restrained me on the ground. The higher the grade, the more disrespectful and adversarial the teachers became. Thankfully, I moved out of state after fifth grade and got put back in public schools. It wasn't great but it was better than this place. And given the escalation year after year, I think their approach would have led to some really dark outcomes for me. I would never, under any circumstances, ever place a child in the care of these people. Things may have changed since then, but given how they managed to keep my parents in the dark about this practice back then, I just can't imagine trusting them now. The fact that they received awards while all this was going on means they've never run into any incentives to alter their behavior.

I was a Student in the early/mid 90s I wasn’t gonna make a review, but it’s important to let parents know not to take their special needs students out of their home school districts these days especially if the home school can provide special needs services within their district.

(In 2021 Most school districts do have internal services, classrooms, curriculum, staff to provide for special needs students)

they may not tell you, or try to deny you, because it costs the district $ but doesn’t cost the parent/taxpayers, at all so don’t be fooled.

proper individual psychological/intellectual/developmental classifications & IEPs are important to obtain to protect all students and parents to assure the student gets the best education possible

taking a student out of their home school stunts growth, advanced knowledge, socialization skills, and makes anyone feel insecure, incompetent, and frustrated, and this may make matters worse.

This school has terrible teachers (Linda blonde with a snagle tooth didn’t teach at all more goof than anything) the environment was toxic, they lie to parents about good behavior and make the kids sound terrible to keep them in the school, and not move on for intellectual growth, (they also have more abusive staff for behavioral issues and time out rooms) this black guy Tyrone was physically, verbally, and mentally abusive, he would be more of an antagonist to create conflict in the student.

I go there personally and it is awful. Me as a student can say that because this is the Internet and anyone can do anything on the Internet. Kids beat each other up and don’t get in trouble for it and the staff are awful. Don’t send your kid here you’ll regret it!!
