Iron Whale

We were just expecting to have an easy dinner with friends, but we're absolutely blown away by this spot. Cocktails were perfect, staff were all unbelievably friendly and easy going. The food was wonderful - everyone enjoyed their meals and appetizers. The only complaint of the night was the steak was more medium than medium rare. But it was still delicious! We're excited to try more on the menu soon!

Great atmosphere, warm rustic ship vibe. Beautiful design, interesting and intimate lighting. Amazing food, tasty drinks, beautiful presentation. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The menu has a wide range to choose from and it’s all delicious! Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Our go-to favorite spot in Asbury.

This is a definite must visit. If you like calamari, I would definitely order this again. I had a cocktail, Rhode Island calamari, house salad, New England clam chowder, and a piece of the strawberry cake. Portions were on the larger side.

We went here for Mother's Day Brunch and we were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. Brie was very nice and explained the menu, asked we had any concerns and checked up on us often. The food was great and we had more than enough to eat and took home the extras. I have to say this was one of the best brunches we have been to. Not loud, not overcrowded and certainly not rushes. Great job! Can't wait to come back for the normal menu. The only criticism was the busboy was bit aggressive in clearing the table. Great brunch!

Went for birthday dinner after a failed reservation at another spot on the boardwalk. We had such a great experience here that I found myself grateful that the original plans didn't work out!

Service was perfect, food was delicious, and my goodness were the cocktails out of this world! The attentiveness, detail, and creativity demonstrated across our meal is hard to come by these days! An excellent way to celebrate a milestone birthday and I'd love to come by here again given the chance.

Jared was an amazing server!! He was so sweet and nice and made amazing recommendations. The management was super friendly too. I got the scallops and they came out great. We loved the food and drinks. Will definitely be coming back :)

I am so glad we finally tried Iron Whale. Their menu had a lot of interesting options that sounded delicious, and their specials also sounded (& were very tasty). They also had gluten free and vegan options. We got seated by the window with the view of the beach. It was aesthetically pleasing in the restaurant. I got the gluten free vegan cauliflower flatbread and the waiter did get offended when I asked him to double check that the flatbread was gluten free because it did not taste gluten free. But rest assure it was and it was so good! The cocktails and drinks were also really good! We had a great experience.

Great spot for couples and families alike! It’s our 2nd time here and everything we tried on the menu is fantastic! Super fun and creative cocktails (tonight we tried the Violet Femmes and The Benchley - both fabulous!), and for apps we had the chicken and lemongrass dumplings along with local oysters and the tapenade. For mains we did the coconut shrimp tacos and the cowboy steak. The steak was a little bland for our taste, but everything else was great! For dessert we did the key lime pie and the strawberry cake special. To complete the night we had the iron whale coffee. All wonderful and we’ll definitely return again!

Really nice place and great food. We had the Ceviche,Crab Cake,Po Boy Fish Tacos, Halibut special, 12oz Sirloin ChocolateChip bread pudding and Pear Crene Brulee. The dishes were excellent! The Tacos did need a little more sauce though. The Whale ( bloody) Mary was delicious, as waste Rachel Margherita. Paul, our server was excellent as well.

The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was pleasant. The food was wonderful. Loved the bread choices and spreads. Our waitress was knowledgeable and explained the dishes. I would dine here again. Our reservations were just prior to the standard dinner time hour so we had the dinning area to ourselves. Customers from the bar are could be heard as well as customers from a 2nd take who arrived near the end if our dinning experience. This was not a concern to us

I've been here twice in the past 3 weeks. The food ( at least what I've ordered has been fantastic 😋😋😋😋😋). The service is excellent, from the hostess to the server's ( very professional 👌👍) .
The grilled jerked Maui Maui sandwich, I highly recommend 😋😋😋😋😋. I'm going to see about going next week (Sunday 🫰).

We stopped in here for appetizers and a few drinks. Food and drinks were excellent and teh staff was very helpful. It is also in a very scenic area and we wandered around a bit.

My girlfriends and i decided to take a beach day down in Asbury Park. We were looking for a good dinner place that accommodated a total of 7 people and they just so happen to have an outdoor seating facing the ocean (lucky us)!

Once we got seated, the first thing we ordered were cocktails. I decided to get the Iris Negroni (if you love strong drinks, this is it). Then, we ordered some appetizers such as dumplings, oysters and calamari - all tasted really good! For entree, our server told us their specials, which my friends decided to order (Ahi Tuna and Halibut). I ordered the Rigatoni Collins, which was absolutely delicious! The sauce had a great mix of garlic butter, white wine sauce amongst other seafood flavors (clams, shrimps, etc.) that paired very well with the rigatoni pasta.

Our server was super nice and the overall vibe of this place was A++. Highly recommend if you're in town!!

Went here for a second time in two weeks. As someone with food allergies I’m used to kitchens messing up my order and I’m always patient. I ordered a gf burger no dairy and it first came out with cheese. The manager came over personally to apologize and bring me fries to eat while waiting for the new burger as everyone else had been served. He also personally delivered the new burger and made sure it was to my liking before he left. Super impressed with the care they have for their customers.

I love my high end restaurants, ESPECIALLY seafood, and I never noticed this place at first so I had to go. As you'd expect the inside consists of nice seating and rustic furniture and fixtures. My server was attentive and made sure to stop by when needed. Once the food came out the real test was about to begin. The food tasted as expected, which was phenomenal, and the alcoholic drinks that were ordered were on point as well. I'd move back to Jersey just to eat at this place once a week!

Delicious grass fed burger and truffle fries. Chicken and lemongrass dumplings were tasty along with short rub grilled cheese. The Smoked Old fashinion drink had a nice kick. And Nick our waiter was very attentive. Would highly recommend. They are also dog friendly for out door seating and indoor if you have a service dog.

I so love this place! And the staff, super friendly and accommodating! Thank you for the experience!

However…. I find the grilled Octopus a bit short compared to what I see on other people’s reviews and post, I feel like the price is a bit expensive for that much serving. Other than that everything is amazing.

First time here and the experience was great. Our waiter was outstanding and friendly. The menu options are unique and tasted pretty good. We went for lunch so menu is different for dinner I believe. Atmosphere was very intimate.

We have eaten here twice now. The first time we came in, our waitress had the same stye infinity tattoo on her wrist like we did. We thought that was sooo cool..and she let us take a pic. The food is outstanding, you will not be disappointed. The fish tacos are the best we have ever had as well as the Clam Chowder. Of course everyone would like to see lower prices but look around, prices are jacked up everywhere. The price is fair in this establishment. We will be back
