Mediterranean Cafe

We decided to try this place when we were walking by. I ordered Falafel plate and lentil soup. The service was good and the food arrived quickly. Everything was so good - The soup was hot and hearty, hummus so creamy and falafel so tasty! I would highly recommend this place for your Mediterranean food cravings.

Heard so much about Mediterranean Cafe and finally decided to try it and LOVED IT!! State street has a hidden gem. You all need to stop what you are doing and head to Med Cafe today.

Mediterranean Cafe has been serving the Madison community for more than 20 years. It’s a casual and cozy
restaurant serving Algerian food. The food here is delicious, has an authentic taste, and served quickly. You will go back here again after you have tried it once. We tried the chicken shawarma plate and chicken sandwich. The shawarma plate is served with rice, salad, hummus, and pita. The portion size is huge and I really thought I wouldn’t finish it. Once I started eating, I couldn’t stop and my plate was empty before you know it. The chicken and salad was so flavorful . The rice that accompanied it was also so well prepared. The chicken sandwich was also huge and so delicious.

I cannot wait to go back there and try other things off their menu. Thank you to the person at the ordering station who recommended the shawarma plate to me, so so good!

Super delicious food. They were very attentive. Fast, and welcoming. I got a shawarma plate. Portions were very filling and great value. Adorable on the inside, great overall vibe.

Come for the food, stay for the ambiance and friendly staff. Excellent Algerian tea, fresh soft pita, tasty hummus all served in large quantities. Extremely quick service. They only take cash or check.

Tried tons of falafels at different places, but the falafel sandwich here was phenomenal. Cozy place but beautiful ambience with super friendly staff. My friends had the Shawarma and the hummus platter and loved it to the core. Definitely recommend for some authentic falafel wraps. The Algerian tea, you can ask it as an iced form, was the exact beverage that complemented the platter.

Hummus and salad had plenty of fat and lemon. So good. Meat was tender. Food came out in less than a minute.

I've only ever gotten delivery from the Mediterranean Cafe so I can really only talk about the food, which is incredible. My go-to order is a combo shawarma plate (chicken and beef), and it's always excellent. The meat is flavorful and tender, the hummus is divine, and the lettuce in the little salad is always fresh! Sometimes salads get a little sad and wilty when they're delivered (especially when they're traveling with hot food), but I haven't had that problem ordering from the Mediterranean Cafe. Someday I'll make it into the actual brick and mortar establishment, but until then I'll enjoy the excellent food via delivery! Please also note that I realized I should take a photo of my meal for a review about halfway through eating the salad - the amount depicted isn't accurate to what I actually received.

A small Mediterranean restaurant. You enter not expecting much, but you exit satisfied. The food is really good, tasty and in a decent quantity. Everything says "simplicity". Come and eat with a full piece of mind.

Easily the best option for UW Madison students on campus. Food is kept on hot plates, so you get your food immediately. But that shouldn't deter you because the volume of customers on school days means they're always cooking too, so it's super fresh, restaurant quality food. Very affordable, incredibly convenient. Best decision of 2016 was getting lunch from Med Cafe rather than the chipotle next door, I'll never go back.

Great place for Mediterranean on state street! Owner is lovely and other staff are always friendly as well. food is consistently good and reasonably priced. They have weekly specials as well that add a bit of variation to their menu.

Delicious combo plate for reasonable price and SUPER fast service

This is a must try place. The food is so flavorful and fresh. I had what they call a chicken sandwich (more like a wrap) and it was one of the best I’ve had. The photo looks a bit underwhelming but it did not disappoint. The tortilla was amazing as was the sauce inside. The chicken was tender and the veggies were refreshing. It was also a great deal for $8 as the wrap was quite big. They have a lot of tables inside to sit at and the staff were very friendly. The food also came out extremely quickly which was nice. Will definitely be going back to try more!
