The best of European Hospitality. Jean and Dadou Mayer established HSB to be in the nature of an Alpine ski lodge, and it is wonderful. You are not visitors or guests, you become family. My first visit was when I was 19 years old, and the brothers ran from the kitchen to ski school line up with Ernie Blake (founder of Taos) because they not only ran the hotel, cooked meals, but they were superb ski instructors, too. Jean is the good looking one but Dadou was the wild man on skis. (just teasing them) I returned with my daughter and realized it was on the 50th anniversary of my original visit. Can you believe they did not remember me! Well, I was not so impressive at 19. We enjoyed hot toddies after skiing in a blizzard one day and then stayed for dinner the next. Breast of Canard a'la Orange. Very French. Meals are served family style at long tables, everyone sharing. The Hotel is located at the base of the ski runs, and you literally ski in for lunch and out to the lift for afternoon runs. The ski resort has very modern equipment and changed a lot from the 1960's but it still offers some of the best powder skiing in the world, with runs for all levels of skier, not just the hard core outbacker. I see they closed last year due to pandemic, but they should be re-opening this year. I hope so and I wish the very best for Jean and Dadou, so that many more people can enjoy their hospitality and become a part of the St. Bernard family. A stay there will infect you with their love of the mountains and the activities to do on it year round, plus they feed you really well!!!!

The most amazing family ski vacation! We just returned from a ski week at the Hotel St Bernard. It was a magical week for us. I highly recommend Taos, the St Bernard, and the Ski Week program. My husband, daughter and I are beginner skiers and by the end of the trip my husband was skiing the blue runs and my daughter and I were gaining confidence on the greens. As part of our ski week package, our lodging, lift tickets and daily lessons were included along with 3 meals a day. These aren't ordinary meals either... Each night, a 3-4 course meal is served family style with incredible presentation. During dinner, children participate in a separate program with activities like sledding, treasure hunts and marshmallow roasts.

We stayed in an A Frame house for the week and it was comfortable and clean. We were just a few steps away from the ski runs. The real draw to this hotel is the staff. We were immediately welcomed like family. You can really feel how invested the staff is in this hotel, its reputation and the overall guest experience. It was truly like nothing else we have ever experienced.

The St Bernard is truly special. We are honored to have been able to experience this really wonderful, magical place.

You know apres ski can be fun, and St. Bernard makes it GOOD as well! We stopped in for drinks and food after a day of skiing and the menu was a bit of your typical and a bit of unique. The Frito Pie was a hit, but so was the salad, which Julia rightly sold us on !! Julia did a great job handling a lot of tables, and kept our beers and waters full! You can't ski at Taos without hitting this spot, either inside or out on the deck, but don't miss it!!

We stopped by here for a quick bite and absolutely love it here! Fast service, good food (In comparison to the rest of the limited options here on the slopes) and the ski-in, ski-out location is excellent after a long day/morning on the slopes!

I ordered the Ski Lift drink - so good! Will be back for more!

The St. Bernard is located above the base of Chair 1 at Taos Ski Valley. This means that it is ski in/ski out as well as accessible by foot. There are two places to eat, on the deck, which serves burgers, and inside, which during lunch serves pasta, panini's, sandwiches, and soups. The bar inside has a great selection of liquors and drinks. Most of the speciality mixed drinks are mixed with hot chocolate, an interesting combination that works well to warm you up after skiing. The restaurant inside has the "skier special" which is a pasta of the day that comes with bread and a side salad. On the deck, the cheeseburgers are great and they also have salmon burgers and chicken sandwiches which comes with a large helping of fries. The selection of toppings is varied and you can help yourself to however much you want. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Dinner has a rotating menu while you are always seated at a table with 4 or 6 people. The dinners are easily the best in the valley. TL;DR The St. Bernard has the best and cheapest food on the mountain for lunch. Dinner is exquisite as well but pricier.

One of the greatest vacations and skiing experiences of a lifetime. My fellow French expatriates have recreated the heart and soul of the Alpine skiing experience in Taos. The culinary delights, authentic French cuisine, camaraderie, ambiance are unsurpassed anywhere in America, with no close second in my 45 years of travels worldwide. I was transported back to my beloved French and Swiss Alps with every run, every meal, every drink and every conversation. Just no way to describe this delightful and magnificent week MERCI Jean, Dadou & Alain! Dr. Jerry K.

This is by far the best ski resort that I have ever been to. The people are amazing. The slopes are amazing. The food is amazing. Jean Mayer is an icon. Peter, Christine, and Leif and the other staff are great. I wish I could go there more often.

Pure and complete magic in the form of a hotel. The St. Bernard is unlike any other hotel in the area, New Mexico, the United States, and quite possibly the world. Each meal is lovingly prepared and served by a staff in a manner that feels like you are family (as cliche as that sounds).
If you are looking for an experience unlike anything else, Hotel St. Bernard is the place.

It's a step back in time. It's a place in the history of Taos and skiing! It's not modern it's authentic! It's a jump across the pond to the Alps. Excellent food and atmosphere!🍻

Probably the best dining experience in tsv. Definitely a bit pricey, but every part of the three-course meal was noteworthy.
