Old Chief Joseph Gravesite - Nez Perce NHP

I have been researching the Nez Peirce tribe and visiting all of the historical and cultural sites of their homeland and along the Nez Peirce trail.. I have gained a great love and respect for the Nez Peirce people and a broken heart for all that they had to endure during their persecution by the United States government.. this land is still theirs in my opinion and we are fortunate that they allow us to live on it. They were and are great Warriors with a deep understanding of the land and how to live as one with it.. this was just the first time I have visited this site to pay tribute to Chief Joseph and I plan on coming back in the future as my journey continues.. I definitely recommend anyone who appreciates the native American culture to check this place out and pay tribute to this amazing man..

Nice little presentation at the beginning of the lake. This is the burial site of the father of the more famous Chief Joseph, be not confused. This area and the nearby lands were the summer camping grounds for the noble Nez Perce people who would winter at a much lower elevation along the nearby Snake River (warmer down there, cooler up top). A wonderful area full of rich history. My attached photo is from the stream just before the lake, most fortunate that day to experience the Kokanee Salmon run for their annual spawning. 2 of the beautiful red-tinted fish are visible in the image as they swam by. The Joseph, Oregon area has no shortage of fine experiences waiting for you, friends you've not yet met.

Very sad and despicable story of what the Government of the USA did to these people. Very disgusting to contemplate, the shame of it all!! Since this land was stolen, this land must be returned to the Nez Perce.

Anyone that would write a review and post it in a where an "American" grave site is featured has to be an idiots and should return to his country of origin, Daniel Chief Joseph, as far as I'm concern is an American Hero. It is OREGON

Beautiful Memorial and tribute

One of the many sites associated with the Nez Pierce people. I have been to many. This one is a monument to one of the most important of these people.
