B-Side Records

Wonderful record store! They had a wide selection of records. I ended up buying several of my favorite vinyls there. The place is not cheap, but it also isn’t unreasonable. The prices were fair and the gentleman working behind the counter answered all of my questions and came across as quite knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

This shop has a great selection and very fair prices. I make it a point to stop in every couple of months to check out what they've got. The staff has always been friendly, and there is never a concern of feeling out of place or unwelcome.

Very nice little Music store in downtown, Got 2 CD's I was looking for. The selection was amazing, they had basically everything. The stuff was also very friendly too! Definitely will be back!

Shopping there is always fun, and the staff is really nice. I'm so glad that when their original store front was sold the owner just decided to move down the street, it would be awful to lose this downtown staple.

Cool little record store on State Street. Have bought everything from Misfits to Taylor Swift there.

They seem to actually care about the music. My favorite part is seeing the used records that all have added notes to the pressing, quality, etc showing they did the research and often listened to them.

I love that they share their top records of every year as well on their website!

Stopped in on what was apparently both their anniversary sale and their grand reopening after seeing them featured on the local news in our hotel. What a great record shop! We found several items that have been on our list and staff were friendly and helpful, despite being very busy!

Nice broad selection of music and friendly staff. Hurt me a little that the "Classic CDs" selection was made up of discs from my own collection (but I am old).

I've been going here since I was a kid and it's always got the goods. It's been fun to see them go from vinyl and cassettes to CD's and then back to vinyl!

I've found so many great, new vinyl here that I've never found anywhere else. This small little store has both a big character and big selection.

What an awesome little shop! If you're getting into vinyl again (or for the first time), this is the place to start. Good selection, reasonable prices, and a cool vibe.

I've been a patron of this small music store since I moved to Madison about 7 years ago. The owner Steve is always incredibly friendly and helpful. He's helped me track down vinyls I wasn't able to find anywhere else. In an age where ordering online has become the new norm (I'm certainly guilty of it) there's still something wonderful about walking into this store and getting excited about what great music I'll walk out with. Please support your local music stores and keep the magic alive, this is certainly one worth sustaining.

Love this store. Small but filled to the gills with good stuff; nice and very helpful staff; one of the most charming stores on State Street. A unique Madison asset that I support whenever I can. When I'm thinking of going to a big box store for convenience, I remember to go to B-side for the charm and the likelihood that they will have what I want.

Great selection. Also will order for me and hold onto my record. Sometimes a little longer than I'd like but doesn't seem to mind. I will buy and order records from him probably for as long as his store exists

Looking for hard to find CD's? This place is worth a try. I was able to find some Mark Knopfler CD's that were on my list. They had them and more. Knopfler is one of the best living guitarists left. Very lyrical, unique playing style. Give him a listen. B-Side has a great variety of music offerings. Small store but has the right stuff! I think they will also order for you and compete with the online stores price wise. Support our local merchants!

Small little record store hot A/F inside but just what you would expect from an old record store. While small in size they really make use of their space and their prices are on point with everyone else. Will return on our next trip.

I've been purchasing records from B-Side for a couple of years now, after moving to Madison to attend the UW. The selection is great, and records are sorted A-Z with niche genres such as hip-hop, jazz, country, EDM, etc. getting their own sections for convenience. The owner is definitely not the most talkative, but he will take order requests and prices products fairly (provided you dont have free Amazon shipping).
