My significant other and I have been going to SFP for over a decade and have seen their MDs and NPs, and have been pleased with the services received—especially with FNP David Rudolph (super competent, thorough, and wonderful patient rapport). Only recently started seeing Dr Bautista (who replaced the excellent Dr Martinez), so I have limited experience with him, but he has been conscientious and thorough. Note—Some reviewers indicated that they were “turned away” because they were 5-10 minutes late. This has never happened to me, and I tend to run late because I am coming from NW of Tucson.

Very happy with the front office staff. They have been super friendly and helpful each interaction. I saw Dr. Bautista for my appointment and am so thankful to have met an MD who truly focuses on conservative and/or alternative options for treatment and does not let an institution dictate what he is allowed to do with or prescribe his patients. Very understanding MD. I’ve been recommending him to many prospective patients. Keep your integrity and autonomy! Thanks!

I finally have continuity of care. Dr. Moore & Nurse Practitioner David Rudolph listen to what have to say, thoroughly assess my issues, & discuss my concerns. A plan of care is then devised to meet my needs.

I also appreciate how everything is coordinated with all of rhe Staff. If anything needs to be addressed in between appointments help & solutions are always available with just a phone call. I have also been able to get timely appointments if unexpected health problems arise.

I would highly recommend Sonora Family Practice to family & friends.

Dr. Bautista is a fine doctor. Office staff and personnel are pretty much the worst I've ever dealt. Still unsure why I need prescription authorization on every refill of long term medications but they NEVER talk to the pharmacy, after numerous attempts nor do they ever call me back. I had to call Dr. Bautista on a weekend once for him to call the pharmacy. This isn't his job, this is the staff's job. My health suffers due to their staff's negligence. My blood pressure rises every month as a result of them never calling the pharmacy to authorize Rx's. I'm pretty sure their job is to preserve and maintain the health of their clients. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.

*Update*: I'm not sure if changes were made with staffing, but things seem to be running much more smoothly now. So, credit where it is due.

Doctor Bautista has been professional and done his job. The front staff took a little while to get back to me with my results, but managed to call me and let me know. Just so anyone is aware, the phone hours end at 4PM, not 5PM.

My husband and I loved this practice as patients of Dr. Moore for almost 40 years. We changed to Dr. Bautista when the all docs retired and left. Dr. B is a lovely man, a good and knowledgeable doctor who listens and doesn’t make you feel rushed. I have to agree, tho, with other reviewers that with the change, communication by phone and portal messaging with the front office and staff is broken. It has become such a frustration, especially when you need help… a referral, an order sent in a timely way . I am afraid that medical care in general will never live up to the care of the past, and I am not sure how to move forward with trust.

My experience seems to be similar to many. My children and I all see Dr. Bautista and he is great- we can’t recommend him highly enough. However, scheduling and contacting the office is particularly difficult. Two business days ago I left a VM w/ Dr. Bautista’s assistant to schedule my newborn’s first appointment and still have not heard back though this was his recommendation to ensure she is seen promptly. Though their hours on the front door and online state they close at 5, they turn their phones off at 4, and when I arrived at the front door at 4:28, it was already locked. If Dr. Bautista ever moves practices, we will certainly move with him even though we live just a few minutes from this practice.

Unfortunately office managers and business plans have taken over medicine. This office has progressively declined with management. The providers are great the system is broken. Quantity over quality never succeeds in the long run. The NP I saw last week was so behind, so stressed I felt like I should be caring for them. They say you have to reschedule if you are 5 minutes late, yet I waited 30 minutes for the provider to come in and then they were hurried somewhat uninterested and totally stressed. I've left messages for my Dr. half the time I never hear back and when I do it is weeks later or they make me make an appt to ask a question.
sadly this is all too frequently the way Dr and Vet offices are run. Better to stay small with good staff charge more and give quality time to patients. sad.

Dr. Juan Bautista is the best Dr. I've ever had. However, lately you can't get a hold of anyone to schedule. Doesn't matter when you call.

It is almost impossible to get someone to answer the phone. They don’t return calls. The staff literally had me wait in the waiting room after my appointment to get labs done and they just forgot about me! It was about 45 minutes when they finally realized they skipped me over and over.
The pharmacist literally had to call to get authorization for a medication they prescribed and no one would answer the phone. I was literally in tears because it was a Friday at 5 o’clock!
I have been waiting almost 3 weeks for somebody to call me back to go over my labs and it just seems like an impossible task! Especially after leaving two messages in the portal and two messages with staff.

I was dismissed from my pcp due to "no call no shows" I in fact DID call and was told because I didn't have my new insurance cards on hand yet I would need to reschedule. The hold times are ridiculous you can never get thru. I rescheduled and was told same thing. Both times i was told my account would be noted so it wouldnt show as No call No show. When I got my cards I was told PCP wasn't in network when he was. I called 4 days straight and guy who answered front desk kept sending me to MA voice mail. Kept getting sent to MA who didn't call back and guy at front desk didn't have the courtesy to tell me my Dr had discharged me. It wasn't until I went into the actual office to show my cards that I was made aware of no longer being a patient. I followed my pcp to this clinic and was told to wait for his credentialing to go thru. Very disappointing

This staff is THE WORST. Trying to get prescription refills takes a lifetime, and you go without in the meantime. There is no rhyme or reason as to WHY it takes so long to get a long-term refill approved, and calling does no good as you're put on hold. Then, if you address your frustration over their incompetence, they simply won't do anything for you at all. Now I understand the low ratings firsthand, unfortunately.

One star is too many. A family member was in a skilled nursing facility when her primary care retired. Not long after being released, they came down with Covid. Having several risk factors, I reached out to the practice to see if they could help with treatment but they were unwilling to do anything because she didn't establish care with the new doctor soon enough (because they were in the skilled nursing facility). It's a shame as the past doctors have been good, but recently there has been lots of turnover and the office staff seems unhappy and unpleasant and even unable to answer phones or any type of request.

I was a patient for a few years and have recommended Dr. Bautista to coworkers over the years. While I think Dr. Bautista is a decent physician, things have declined exponentially at this office. The schedulers have very little compassion or desire to be helpful. This isn’t what I expect to encounter when I need my doctor for ASAP follow up after a stressful medical situation at the ER. I was told I would have to wait 2 weeks. She didn’t even even consult with Dr. Bautista to see if I should be seen sooner. I am taking my business where my well being doesn’t depend on whoever answers the phone.

There is never anyone answering the phones. My partners doctor left with no notification. Now he is gone and he is having a heck of a time even trying to get people to fill prescriptions he has been on for years. Or to even respond to his requests. No one ever calls back. Just poor customer service.
