I just wanted to come and give and huge shout-out and appreciation review for Carol and Jerry, who were the park rangers who attend this campground. Camping sites are first-come-first-serve and we arrived when every site was already taken. We drove around for 1.5 hours and we're about to drive back toward Phoenix when Carol tracked us down and told us about a campsite that just opened up. She and Jerry showed us where it was and our boys didn't have to leave disappointed. I will forever remember that complete act of kindness. But besides that, they engaged every camper, got to know everyone's names, and made sure they were able to give us each a send off and goodbye as we left.

Absolutely the nicest campground hosts, and cleanest bathroom! The location is super easy to get to. Perfect for a nice getaway! We took our dogs as well, they were leashed the whole time.

The best thing about my stay at Spencer Canyon Campground was the camp hosts, Mark and his wife. They kept the place very clean and were always friendly. Having clean smelling bathrooms was a great surprise while camping. As others have said, some of the sites are very close together but some allow for more space. The views from the higher number sites, 45+ are amazing as you overlook Tucson. From most of the sites it is a little walk to get to where you can park but a few are closer. I had a relaxing and restful stay.

We loved our stay at Spencer Canyon Campground! We stayed on a Wednesday through Monday in the cool pines and hated to come back down to the desert. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. They cleaned the toilets daily (twice on the weekend!): these were the cleanest, best-smelling pit-toilets I have EVER experienced!

The road in is a bit rough (unpaved dirt), but our low-clearance camper van handled it slowly. Finding a level spot is also a challenge, but not unexpected for the area.

This is a first come first serve only campground. The campground hosts are great, and friendly. The road into the camp is pretty tight so drive with care. The bathrooms are clean, and water pumps function well. We went 3rd weekend of June and it was pretty busy, with lots of people showing up on Friday not able to get sites.

Friendly Camp host. Camp site well cared for. Facilities were very clean and no bad smells. There is a standing pipe for water near the restrooms We found a spacious spot that could have supported 4 tents so we had lots of room on our own. Site 31

One of the best campgrounds I have been to in Arizona. It was absolutely beautiful, weather was amazing, got us out of the heat. The camp host did talk to us about the size of our fire, even though ours was small in comparison to the sites around us, but we were the youngest of the campers around and right against the main road. Other than that great experience.

Nice facilities and picnic areas. There's a water pump and clean bathrooms. Easy access to multiple hiking trails and about a 10 minute drive to Summerhaven. Also nearby is one of the best views of Tucson from the mountain.
Firewood is usually available on the ground near the campsites.
It's first come first serve so come early on busy weekends.
The hosts are extremely polite. Stay here a couple times a year and have never had a bad experience.

Loved the campground!! The wildlife was wonderful with deer roaming right in sight of our tent. It was just amazing. The restrooms were clean & always stocked. Even the other campers were just as great as the hosts themselves. Can't wait to begin another camping season!!

Now we just needed to get out of this oven we call Tucson for just a few days.So I packed up our camping gear, just a hammock, sleeping bags a pup tent an my hammer/axe/iron mace, just in case zombie's decided to drop in,lol. an filled our ice chest with sandwich fixings, some fruit, chips, trail mix bagged up already , PB an J an bottles of water ,some with sugar an tea bags in them already an Kool aid singles.Picked up three blocks of ice put two in our 52oz circle k mugs an one in the chest. An off we went,we went up the back side of mnt lemon. Never done that before an probably won't do that again unless I'm driving of course. The back side is not for the faint at heart. There's no rails an the unpaved road is very narrow an the drop offs are to die for. But it did take twice as long to get to the top. But when we got there we hit the fudge shop an drove on down to the first camping sight there was. Good thing to cause rose canyon an the other spots were taken. But Spencer canyon was just perfect, lots of cool places to hike an rock climb an at night you can see every star in the universe , it is pitch dark up there so bring a flash light. I brought little solar lights an lined our path to the bath room. The neighbors thanked us in the morning with muffins an coffee. Anyway we had a great time even if it was only a few days. It's not how long your somewhere it's what you do when ya get there.

Great place to camp, lots of camp site options to get away from the heat of the summer down in the valley. Roads well maintained, clean good smelling outhouse style bathrooms with trash cans, and metal bear boxes that can hold all but the largest coolers, charcoal grill and firepit in each campsite. Each campsite also has a concrete picnic table and a level spot or two for four person sized tents. Two parking spots are available for each spot either adjacent or near the location. The camping area has some steep hills behind some campsites and there are mature Ponderosa pines throughout. The ground is mostly covered with a pine needle mat. There was a light rain overnight while we were there.

Great campground on Mt lemmon to escape the Tucson summer heat. Nice pit toilets but no showers. Some of the sites are steep but no big deal.

Very pretty!! But you go to these places to get away! People just do not respect your space!! Every time we turned around people were coming right up on us like we knew them. I just wanted to relax and be left alone. Weirdos every where!!

Awesome campground. Beautiful sites. The temp was perfect last night... 70's or so, compared to Tuscon which was in the 90's.

Really nice camp ground. Super clean restrooms close by with water. Fire pits with cement tables, parking, and bbq pits.

Might just be the best campground on Lemon. Has a great view of the city from the sites around #58 - after a 5 min hike through the woods.
