Beautiful, peaceful, so many trees and lots of shade. Some sites are impossible to reach without 4 wheel drive but many shady areas near the bathrooms and water are relatively easy to reach. You may scrape rocks in a super low car like ours. The fee is $15 per night and they have water spigots, a bathroom, concrete picnic tables, bear boxes, and a fire pit with adjustable grill. The road gets a bit threatening in the last 2 miles or so before the campground. You shouldn't go any further however, unless you have 4WD or a good truck, the road beyond this campsite is not maintained much and is "drive at your own risk".

Across Mt. Lemmon Rd. is a trailhead for an ATV trail marked "Rice Peak 7 (miles)" much closer than the other hiking trails, that we hiked along for a bit and it was stunning, and we saw many lovely secluded sites for camping back there which I assume are free dispersed camping areas with no amenities, and we also found a trickle of snowmelt forming a tiny creek in the riverbed while hiking there, a cool creepy cave in the wall, and lots of neat rocks. Lots of birds and little animal sounds at night shows you the life of the forest. Neat bugs too!

The campground was closed due to health concerns therefore no running water. Because we only planned on staying one night it wasn't a problem. Always good to get out and go camping.

There's a few spots to set up camp. You're not crammed up with other campers, lots of fire pits are maintained for use, and there are cement tables for use.

The place is almost magical. Cool, quiet, and relaxing...but bring some OFF!!! FOR THE no see, ems.
But beware of the giant teddy bear that left this print. It is known to frequent this camp site.

This camp ground is awesome. It's in the gully of the mountains. Beautiful canopy of trees. We stayed in June and stayed pretty cool.

I've camped here multiple times and it's been a great experience everytime. The weather's cool in the summer, and gets snow sometimes in the winter. Perfect for the hole family.

We took our camper trailer for the first time up the mountain. We chose Peppersauce Campground because we wanted to see how the camper trailer and our vehicle would do. They both did great. The Campground has camping sites, no electric, but water is available near the bathrooms through a manual pump. It's first come first served for the campgrounds. They have fire pits and a bench table. Lots of trees and also there is a tree swing that our kids loved. In the campsites you could fit a camper trailer and maybe the vehicle behind it. Lovely time we all had. We will definitely go back again and truly recommend it to everyone!

Had lots of fun with my kids and dogs. But there were people who were yelling all night and white riding quads right by our tent and being super loud.

My family and I got an unexpected event. We new it would be a little bit of snow but the forecast lied lol and ended up with several inches. The trees and surroundings are beautiful. We were lucky to get the spot that we did with our camper so if you go get there early. I'd definitely go again! NO CELL SERVICE

Really nice quiet campground for primitive camping. There is a road running through the north side of the site so if you are worried about traffic try to get a space on the south side of the wash.

Nice group site but could be pricier than getting multiple single sites if you can live with that... ($50 for up to 35 people + $10 for each vehicle) compared to ($15 for up to 6 people with free vehicles - limit 2 per site)

50% Discount for federal pass holders at single sites but it does appear that is true for the group site.

Only the group site can be reserved. Others are FcFs.

It was really nice. We saw turkeys and deer. The cave up the road is really cool. There was a fair amount of traffic from the boys school but it wasn't as bad as some others have said. We will be going back.

People have issues with this cg because of the road and that's totally understandable. But there is a charm and coziness and a hidden quality to the place that just outweighs the con of occasional offroaders. It's such a cute, comfortable campground that only locals know about. And not too many RVs which I like.

With an annual pass for the Catalina Mountains, Peppersauce is our regular go to place. A hidden valley of sycamore (and walnut trees(?)) this campground had tons of shade and offered a nice break from the desert landscape surrounding.

At $10 a night, it was well priced. Occasionally there is water that flows through the creek, but for the most part is dry but cool. About 45 minutes out of Tucson I suggest for most go through Oracle, for the more adventurous you can explore Reddington Pass (4 wheels only).

Even though I got attacked by a Mountain Lion (don't worry, Ruger won that encounter) this is still one of my all time favorite camp sites with groups. Right up the mountain a short ways is a great beginners cave to explore with some moderate challenges for those looking.

I had a great time camping here, even though it wasn't on top of Mt. Lemmon. Only issue was there was a lot of traffic going in and out due to the boy's reform/juvenile detention thing they've got going on there. My son had to stay at that place once....

Nice camp site with water available and sites are spread far enough that you have some privacy. Also a lot of great hiking around campgrounds!
