Awesome library! I was there to use one of the study rooms, which were very nice and everything I needed. They also have a teen section, a children's section, several computer stations, lots of nice, comfortable seating areas, and a beautiful mosaic below the rotunda. very helpful staff. Accessible to all, with a large parking lot, ramps, and elevators. And they have a "store" where they sell local produce during the week.

The people of Petersburg live by a strict honor code of integrity and respect for the next man. You can leave your car unlocked here and let your wife and children take walks alone at night if you wanted to.

I didn't get to spend enough time here to do a full review. But I was so impressed by my first visit! Everyone who works there was very nice and helpful. It reminded me of a smaller version of the Libbie Mill library in Henrico. You can bring your laptop and work. There are plugs in the cafe in case your laptop battery is bad like mine. I don't know if plugs are in other places. There are many public computers to use. It was very quiet. I felt weird making noise by picking up books. l didn't have time to check out the cafe but it looked nice when I passed by. There is Wi-Fi. This library is wonderful. They offer free blood pressure checks and more. This is a great resource for the people of Petersburg. Can't wait to go back.

Got to say: All the staffs are so friendly and accommodating. Also great place to read and study.

(added) Except to this director who is so strict and unaccommodating who outrageously wants you to eat outside the building.

Very nice, new facility. Place was pretty empty except for a handful of employees, which is a shame. Got my library card while here, and the lady helping was very pleasant and helpful. Wish the magazine and newspaper section was open again, but very nice otherwise.

Great library not only to borrow books but for an array of cultural activities like the beloved 'jazz in the stacks' and many more. Also home to health and fitness activities such as yoga, Tai Chi, meditation etc... which are all offered to the community for free. A great way to unite the community under one roof. Everyone should be able to find something they like to do. One of my favorite places.

I like that the Petersburg library has self check outs. I also like the building itself amd the layout of their collection. The Children's DVD section is lacking and I have come across several that were beyond a good cleaning, to which I was told they "don't check them". So open and notify a staff member before you check DVDs out. There is parking on the street and in a nice sized lot. The aisles are spaces enough for a small stroller so going with little ones in tow isn't hard. There are lots of programs hosted at and by the library, but they are not the best at updating their own website.

This place is a pillar in the community. Not only do they offer free education and internet, but they open as a shelter during inclement weather. The building is a work of art, and smell of freshly cooked food (as soon as you walk in) is uplifting. May all the caregivers there be blessed 1000x.

(Yes, it's cheesy, lol. But it is all true. See for yourself.)

First time visting the Petersburg Public Library and I love it. The building is huge and easy to spot from the street. They offer on street parking near the entrance. For parents the library offers FREE ABC Mouse (great learning program for kids). They have very relevant books on all topics. There are many different quiet spaces for studying or internet use. They offer computers and have a Tier 7 café.

The jewel of Petersburg, in my humble opinion. We bring our own computers and connect to the FREE wifi. There are also plenty of electrical outlets around for use during extended periods. Usually quiet. Computers on site if u don't bring your laptop. But I'd suggest bringing your own. Very cheap printing provided. Can connect your laptop to the printers by bluetooth. Lots of comfy chairs around, and also many tables and meeting rooms too. There are daily exercise programs, with great instructors for classes like yoga and tai chi. There's an open cafe in the lobby (omgosh what a beautiful lobby), and a souvenir shop there too. Oh and books, the library has lots and lots of books, as all good libraries should. 😆😆😆 Its very open, new, and nice. 💖it!

Very nice Library. I enjoy the resources and the computer assistance and classes before the Pandemic! Hate the short hours but feel blessed to be able to go there even now.

This library is awesome! It's HUGE, with multiple levels, tons of reading material for all ages & genre's, and plenty of computers with printing capabilities at very fair prices.

I been at this Library before and they are very nice workers, As a writer I will keep going there. That is like a 2nd home for me to go and relax. I go there Tuesdays only on one of my days off to relax and focus only on writing and research

There is a new modern Petersburg Public Library at a different location in the city. But the older building is now a historical site, and was the first institution to be integrated in the City of Petersburg.
