Skrimp Shack

Absolutely the best value for your dollar for a fresh meal, hands down winner. The store is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the fish is cooked fresh, both deep fried or broiled. They separate the oils used for frying for maximum flavor and safety in case you have an allergy, and in all the years coming here I have never had a negative experience.

There are few places I can say this about nowadays and I speak quietly with my hard earned dollars every time I eat at this location. The crew does a great job, they should be very proud of themselves and I hope both local clients and management appreciate the value of this wonderful little fast food location!

I ran to write this review!! I’ve not gotten service as great at as I had at this Skrimp Shack. First the food , the food was kept warm for us since it took over 40 minutes for us to arrive. The shrimp the catfish and the whiting sandwich were phenomenal.
Then the owner who I thought was the manager took my drink cups filled my drinks got me ketchup which you normally have to make yourself offered me cup holders and insisted I take them he held the door open for me and was so pleasant.

My first time here; I got dinner to go. I was greeted upon arrival, the young lady who waited on me was friendly, she smiled & talked with me, & that was very nice. Our orders were correct, the food was hot, fresh, well seasoned, & very tasty! We got the fried shrimp with two sides, mac n cheese & collards. The cocktail sauce was really good, too. I'm looking forward to trying more items on the menu!

I stopped by for some takeout about 10 minutes before closing. That timing can sometimes lead to poor service or quality, but not here. The staff was friendly and the small family bundle of catfish, shrimp, hushpuppies and fries was of high quality. It was enough to feed a mom and two teenagers and for a great value. I definitely will be returning.

Delicious. Service excellent. Simple but good menu. I had the skrimp po boy sandwich with the mild sauce. Mild is plenty hot for me! Husband had a Whiting and skrimp dinner with collard greens. He said greens were excellent. I had fries with my sandwich and they were very good. Pepsi products and crushed ice for beverages. Lots of food for money. Clean and brightly lit eating area. Not very busy but steady stream of customers on a Saturday night. I will definitely go again. If you like shrimp and fried fish, which is very lightly breaded, and jumbo sized shrimps and fillets. Very tasty eatery. 5 stars.

They closed the skrimp shack near us so we went out of the way to go here. Delicious fried fish and skrimps! Never have had a bad fish fry here. So light and flaky!

We saw this place while traveling to our hotel and looked it up online. The reviews were good. 4.2 overall. We decided to go for the next day for lunch- so glad we did. The place is clean , with in house dining as well as take out. The menu has a nice variety of fried fish along with shrimp, oysters, and crabmeat - prepared in variety of ways from fish tacos, poboys, combination baskets , and sandwiches. We choose the basket with fried flounder, shrimp ,sweet potato and regular potato fries with a side of coleslaw. The food was very good. My only concern was the portions were small- but after eating- it was just enough. The Service is wonderful, and the prices reasonable . We would definitely revisit.

Update - went again tonight and the service was some of the most friendly I have had in a long time. As usual the food is awesome. Some menu items have changed and they just recently added seafood salad which was tasty but the Mac and cheese and hush puppies are still the best side options. Original review below.
I love this place. I have been here several times and every time the food is awesome. Fish sandwiches are 3/4lb and about $7 for cod or whiting. The hush puppies are the best in town and the clam chowder is awesome. Another great piece that may sound weird is the tarter sauce. Some places have tarter that taste like it was made with miracle whip. Not this place, their tarter is awesome. Other items like the shrimp and crab cakes are good but not as good as the fish sandwich. They offer pleanty of side options like fries, sweet potato fries, Mac and cheese, fried okra, and more. If you like fried fish you won't be disappointed.

I got a Catfish/ Shrimp Powboy. It was delicious. Just the way I like it. After I finish, they said they have a spicy Powboy sauce as well. I will have to try that next time. If I had one of these near my house, I would eat every couple of weeks.

The food was hot, and the cashier was helpful in decision-making. Have never had a bad experience. Just had to season my collards, but could be my own personal taste. My first time having okra, it was just ok, but I received a bunch.

The service was excellent. I didn't have to wait long. The inside was very clean and organized. The catfish i got was delicious. I've had other foods on their menu and I can say it was very tasty. That's the place too enjoy your seafood. You can dine in or take out. It's a must try it.

Best fish fillets you'll ever eat, don't mess around, buy it by the pound. You won't regret it

This location was every bit as good as the now gone Mechanicsville location!
The shrimp was a beautiful golden brown as were the hush puppies!
Love the food here. The Mac and cheese isn't as good as the white cheddar. The chicken and fish sandwiches are good also and big!

Clean n welcoming facility, I ordered Flonder Fish Basket with Sweet Potato fries and drink.

As you can see I'm stuffed lol... Best po boys in Richmond!!!... I always choose the crabmeat and skrimp po boy. Its made with real crabmeat and you can get it mild or hot. The sides are banging too!!! If you get the fries it's gonna be a lot!

Bruuuuuhhhh... The Fish Sammich was SLAPPIN! Came Piled High with Hot filets... AND I got a shrimp Basket with fries and the Coleslaw was bangin!

For a 1st time customer, let's just say my appetite was delightfully satisfied. The seafood salad was by far #1 my rating. I now have a new business for Seafood salad to cater. The Nana Pudding was 😋 and the Sweet Chili Skrimp Taco was extraordinaire of something that I had never seen nor tasted.....which was satisfactory to my GI tract. II am pleased to say; I am honored to be a lifetime customer. Way To Go!!!

This food was so good it barely lasted the car ride back to my hotel, but it was so much food I couldn't finish it all within that 15min drive. Catfish and shrimp platter. I'll be back.

The fish sandwich is amazing and greatly priced for seafood.
