This school is amazing. Personally, the teachers and staff have helped me build intellectual confidence, offered very helpful constructive critisism, and gave me a voice in a group full of students. The curriculum has a WIDE variety of classes (more than I've had in other HS's) that helps grow skills and keep our interests in whichever field we want to go in (Anatomy, Psychology, Art History, etc). They also have many clubs where you can meet people with similar interests (Youth SHAC, Fandom Club, We All Have a Voice, Key Club, LGBT, etc) The staff is welcoming to positive changes and suggestions, the student body (from what I've seen) is very open and helpful, security really puts the safety of students on their mind (I believe), the school nurses are helpful PLUS they have a UNM clinic to help with students who need tests, therapy, a case manager, experienced people. All in all, this high school has helped me grow into a new person, and it holds a special place in my heart. My advice in this school, just smile and don't start crap with anyone else, and they won't start crap with you 'cause no one got time for that.

Highland provides numerous opportunities for each student attending. They have one of the most diverse and welcoming campuses in the state. Student-Staff relationships thrive in this environment. I highly recommend Highland High School. Go Hornets!

I graduated from Highland in 1958 - after leaving Highland I attended the following Colleges - University of Iowa, University of New Mexico, (BA) San Jose State (MA) University of Arizona, took additional graduate work at several other colleges. I always felt the basic education I received at Highland prepared me to be competitive at any college I attended as a graduate student.
