Route 8 Donuts

If you haven't stopped by here yet, please do. The donuts are delicious, but more importantly, the staff is amazing. I really can't say enough. This is how people should run their businesses. One stop here made my whole day. ****UPDATE 6/14/21. Completely craving a chocolate covered Bavarian cream filled donut. Stopped by quite early. Unfortunately, they didn't have much of a selection. They did have a similar donut that had the cream on top in the middle. It looked messy and didn't make sense to me but I got it anyway. It was difficult to eat. Messy. I'm not sure who would prefer this. Like putting the hamburger on top of the bun.

Awesome donuts! Coffee is from local roaster, Mill Mountain, which is excellent. Ask for an unfilled donut and watch them fill it.

First time visitor while visiting relatives. Stopped in and ordered a coffee and apple fritter. Fritter was fresh and warm. I don't think I've tasted one better. And this is one of my favorite treats. Wish this was place was close to home - I'd be a frequent customer.

These owners know what their doing! I stopped in, expecting a run down and old doughnut shop, but I was blown away with how nice this place is and how friendly the owners are!! To top it all off, their donuts are out of this world! The maple bacon has been my favorite so far. I can't wait to try them all. This is my favorite local spot in Christiansburg this far!

Absolutely delicious donuts! We got a few dozen just before a Virginia Tech game and finished them all! I highly recommend this place. The staff prepared our order very fast, and were friendly. If you're looking for a place with a lot of character and a great morning treat, this is your spot. The apple fritters and maple bacon donuts are simply irresistible! Enjoy!

The best donuts I’ve ever tasted in my life! We live in Roanoke and make trips there early in the morning to get our favorites! Definitely worth the trip, affordable and just so tasty!! The workers that we have encountered are very nice and professional. I wish they would open in Roanoke and give all these other sub par places a run for their money! It’s ruined all other donuts places for me, you have to try it and you’ll be hooked!

We finally got to stop by today and are so happy we did! Route 8 knows their stuff. We purchased an assortment of cake and yeast donuts and they are all great. Also this location used to be an abandoned, rough looking spot and the Route 8 team have completely transformed it into a modern looking and very cozy setting.

We are donut snobs and Route 8 more than meets our expectations! It's easy to tell that they use top quality ingredients. We are very happy with these donuts and will be repeat customers.

Called ahead for a dozen specialty donuts and when I arrived, I received some of the best donuts I've ever tasted. They literally melted in my mouth. My kids enjoyed them as well. Great experience. Friendly staff. Will definitely recommend Rt. 8 Donuts 🍩 to anyone!!!

Very prompt courteous service. There was a great selection of donuts as well as apple fritters. Several unique spins on the donut theme like adding cinnamon graham crackers. We ordered a Maple, M&M and an apple fritter. The maple was lighter on maple flavor than expected but was tasty despite that. The M&M was fun, and the apple fritter was about 12" diameter and had apple in nearly every bite.

I LOVE these donuts. Parking was tight when I was there and it's friendly but the customer ahead of me took a LOT of time chatting and there's only one check out. She created a long line of customers with her lengthy conversation. This has kept me from returning because I don't always have a lot of extra time in the mornings. I've not returned because of this experience.... BTW, there was a man ahead of me and this rude woman actually walked in front of me as I stood back from the counter 6 feet. I was the only other person in the shop but the line grew out the door by the time she left.

Always great customer service. If you are looking for a particular type of donut, you either need to get there very early or call ahead and have them set them aside for you. We love the variety of donuts at they offer and enjoy sitting in there and occasionally getting to watch the make donuts.

Delicious donuts! Tantalizing creations like rocky road, carrot cake, lemon filled and my favorite a simple cinnamon and sugar. If you need a well rounded breakfast you can get a breakfast sandwich across the street at the gas station. Both stops tasty and cheap.

These donuts are great! Super fresh and very customizable.
Also, make sure you’re paying attention when you drive here, otherwise you might miss it.

There are many different toppings and flavors of donuts. And their doughnuts are not only delicious but also beautiful and make great gifts!

Great donuts if you get there early enough because they sell out fast. The have the donuts ready to fill with your choice of filling. The apple fritters are big and delicious. Not too cheap but well worth it! Anywhere from $12 up a dozen

Hot dang! I was excited that a new local donut shop opened in my old stomping grounds, but I was COMPLETELY unaware that they hired baker elves with access to magical-quality ingredients to produce confections on par with the muffins that ended the Great Unicorn Wars. They keep running out because people flock in droves to get these little wonders. I came in today around noon and got "the dregs" and tasted the best donuts I've ever had in the New River Valley.

I have never had a donut from Route 8 that I didn't thoroughly love. If grocery stores or Dunkin have shaped your donut expectations, you should really treat yourself to some donuts here so you can taste what a donut should taste like. They are my favorite donuts in the NRV.

Great texture on the yeasted donuts. Flavorful and moist cake donuts (no small feat). Good creative flavors. I hate dessicated coconut in general, but the toasted coconut often used here gets a really good carmalized flavor and crunchy texture.

You guys are the best. Fresh every morning and service with a big smile. It really shows that you love what you do. To those that fuss about them selling out by mid morning, I suggest you wake yourself up earlier for these delicious treats. Keep up the great work!

We requested custard filled doughnuts, but they only had 2 left. So they took the regular chocolate iced doughnuts and filled them with custard for us. I felt that was above and beyond what any other doughnut shop has ever done! Will definitely go back

Great donuts, light & airy, unique variety not too sweet. Local family run business. Very personable. Hear they run out daily, can understand why. Added to our must stop by when we're in the area. Right off I81.
