Thus is a mom and pop type place. It is not fancy, but the food is great. We will be going back for the sushi. Two couples who were having dinner said come often.

Yesterday I ate lunch here for the first time. The staff are very friendly, and a good variety of sushi is offered on their menu. It’s a very low key and casual atmosphere here, and I look forward to eating here again on my next trip to Quinton and New Kent County!

They have a very large variety of sushi, and a surprising amount of other main dishes and sides. All of the sushi rolls we had were very delicious! Also the deopbab was a great addition.

I found Sun's Cafe while on my Vespa scouting a potential historical site scoot route for friends. I had to do a double-take when i read the sign...

Did that say Sushi & Habachi? Really? In that house? Wonder if its actually open.

So I told my husband bout them and he called to find that they do take-out. The sushi he brought home was fantastic! So we went to visit in-person two days later... with 3 kids in tow.

The place seats about 50 people in the main area, but I spotted a large Habachi area in the back. Not sure if it's an add-on still under construction, but looks promising for groups.

Their menu is vet large with tons of sushi options and a full American menu.

Kids opted for the chicken nuggets and they were very tasty (mom gets a nugget tax) - like old school McDonald's. Yum. In fact, the kids actually ate their food!

But they were no match for the sushi! We got 4 rolls. All served on a plank, all spicy and all splendid.

I even ordered a mushroom cheese burger to go (and it didn't make it home cuz I ate it on the way...can't believe I found the room in my stomach). And it was very good as well.

This is our new go-to spot. It's a bit of a hike for many, but you will not regret it.

This is a GREAT local eatery. While I came for the sushi (as recommended by a buddy), the menu is fairly extensive with American cuisine as well (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Definitely, my "GO TO' for amazing sushi... and doubly so as it is local. 👍

06/02/18 UPDATE- Another 5 Star Experience at this amazing little restaurant. Friendly, as always, service and the sushi is simply AMAZING. Someday, I may try something else, but that is a loooong way off. Although the fried porkchop and homemade mac and cheese looked delectable.

Litterally the best Cheeseburgers in New Kent County! My Favorite is the 3 Kinds Cheeseburger!!! Highly Recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Go for the sushi and you will not be disappointed! Yes sushi in small town New Kent County. Call ahead for Hibachi reservation if going with a small group. Great place!

Don’t let the outside fool you, the food is outstanding! We had the edamame, seaweed salad, two sushi rolls and bulgogi and all were perfect! Service was great too! We’ll be back next time we’re in town!

Best sushi I've had in Virginia so far. Better than anything in Williamsburg. It's a little cowboy looking house out in New Kent and serves both American fare and sushi. So take your non sushi friends with you. They can eat too. The salmon was amazing. The scallops were so nice. They have some inventive rolls as well if that's your thing. Go check it out!

Amazing sushi. I travel the world. Dont let this buildings exterior fool you. There is a diamond in that square box. Superb service and sushi.

Amazing sushi in an area you’d never expect it. Creative and large rolls all very reasonably priced and amazing service as well. We will definitely be back!

This place is amazing. My kids love eating here and we do as well. This is a great local restaurant.

Our first time visiting Sun's Cafe. My wife and I had a small sushi lunch. 3 different Nigiri and 2 hand rolls. The Nigiri was pretty great. Temperature was spot on, rice was perfect and fish tasted fresh. We weren't expecting much from this place with the curb appeal and interior decor looking a little tired and run down. Definitely not a fair comparison to the sushi. The woman who served us was very kind and attentive. We will continue to return. Definitely a great place. 👍

Stopped here for lunch when I was passing through. The chicken bowls were delicious and fresh. The place was comfortable and the owner was really friendly and gave great service. Didn’t try the sushi, but I heard another customer say it was the “best sushi ever.” If I lived nearby, I would come here regularly!

Love this place!! The owners are amazing!! The food is amazing!! The service is amazing!! 10/10 would recommend, even if you don’t like sushi!

Went there for their sushi and sashimi, we had a mix party that didn't enjoy sushi so they ended up getting their American menu... I'd highly recommend it because it was the best Sushi and Sashimi I have ever had.

My wife and I have ordered takeout from Sun’s three different times and in total tried about 15 different rolls plus the seaweed salad.

While the sushi is nowhere near Michelin star quality, for rural Virginia it is darn good. Heck, for Richmond Virginia it’s darn good. The rice is always perfectly cooked, the fish and veggies are always fresh and tasty, and the service is definitely five star. The value for the money is extraordinary as their rolls do tend to be quite large!

The only critique I have is that their roll construction is at times not great. Their larger rolls are usually rolled too loose and fall apart (especially true of the rolls with 4+ ingredients).

Simply delicious. This is an owner run store in New Kent near the Firehouse. Simply excellent sashimi. Not cheap, but I think one taste will convince you why.

I would say, "Best sushi in New Kent", but i can't think of another sushi restaurant in New Kent. So I guess it is the uncontested champion. Definitely meant as a compliment!

Sun's is so much more then it seems on the outside. Ran by a husband and wife, the service is very personable. We got sushi and some appetizers while here. We waited a little for our 4 rolls but when they came out it was worth every bit of the wait. They were SO BIG and full of the freshest ingredients. I am new to the area so this was my 1st time and it will not be my last. Hands down some of the best sushi I have ever had!
