USF Contemporary Art Museum

Conveniently located by the Marshalls Center on the USF campus, this museum brings artwork from around the world to your doorstep, FOR FREE!!

While there was a distinct curated focus on one artist i fully and thoroughly enjoyed seeing such a topical display at this art museum!

Robert Lazzarini in 2012 explores Barriers, Walls and Government. Quite the subject for 2019.

This is a contemporary art museum. If you do not enjoy contemporary art, you will not enjoy what is provided for you to view at this museum. That said.

This is one of my favorite museums in the Tampa Bay area. I have been visiting this place for many years. It is a small museum, you can spend as little as 20 minutes if you just want to walk through it and quickly look over the pieces. You will see a wide range of contemporary artworks and the shows change out frequently. There are no permanent pieces on display so each visit for me is always a new experience.

Hours of operation
It takes me a little time to drive from home to this museum so I always check with a call to be sure they are open prior to driving over. *Obviously the pandemic has created even more issues regarding the "Open or closed" status.

Parking.
You pay in the parking lot at a kiosk. I always check to see that it is open before I pay for parking. The museum is free and I don't recall the parking fees, it is minimum as I remember.

If your a contemporary art fan or at minimum open to viewing some art that does not fit into what many think of as art, find a few minutes and give it a try - the price is right - Free.

It is a Great and Beautiful Campus to go to College

As a local and alumni, I love this place. Always a friendly, inviting, and calm atmosphere. Having worked a significant portion of my life at an art museum, I am aware that this takes a great deal of effort to achieve. Such a great place.

Honestly, I was not expecting to be so impressed when I walked in. Yes, the place can be described as a small museum, however, the set that is here is genuinely cool and some of it engaging. They host events regularly and it feels nice and comfortable when you walk in. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful, and you may end up walking out with a few brochures.

A great spot to see many different artists - some are students, some shows are well-known artists. It appears small, but it actually fits a nice amount of work. The displays are different at each show that sometimes include paintings, sculptures, video, interactive artwork, etc. Fun spot to stop by!

2022 and 2023. Two different expositions. Hosted by professionals. Educational exhibits. USF and Tampa can be proud of this subtle showcase.

While not as big as some, this museum continually impresses with their well curated, inspiring exhibits and collection of contemporary art. Check ahead, as is typical with many museums, don’t go expecting to see their entire collection on display.

A hidden gem. The exhibits are always fantastic and the rotate in new artists regularly. The staff is kind and knowledgeable.

Really great museum - had a great traveling exhibit when we visited. Recommended!

Small but cool place for a showing for one artist.

I visited the exhibition about climate change in Cuba. It was really cool and they also have talks there. I listened to one about cuban boats. Definetely an interesting place inside USF.

Very small museum, but the museum attendant was very informative and accommodating. Not a bad idea to visit, if you’re on campus trying to kill time.

Beautiful exhibits that embrace innovation and culture. There are always new surprises in store for visitors of this museum, and the staff is very informative and helpful.

Free experience for all who enjoy contemporary art. Exhibits change frequently. Only takes about 20-30 minutes to go through exhibits thoroughly.

Loved the variety of art and that it's free! I come here every now and then on my lunch. It's a nice break from work and the Florida heat.
