211 Main Street Restaurant & Bakery

First time dining here and I drove 60 miles to eat at this restaurant.
I've been reading the Hometown monthly magazine for several years and I had seen ads for this restaurant but was never nearby during their hours of operation. Well today they were open for business and I had the time to drive to Lavonia. It was so worth it !
I had a combo lunch of Spinach cheese quiche with a salad and my husband and 1/2 of a club sandwich with a salad. It was just the right amount of food for your midday meal. And we ordered a slice of cake to bring home to enjoy later. There is a bakery in the same building that has loaves of bread, cheese straws, cakes, pies, and cupcakes.

I always look forward to getting to eat here. The food is amazing and I recommend the citrus salad. You definitely can't leave without trying one of their cupcakes!!!!

I'm a MAJOR food snob and I not only loved the food but highly recommend this place! My hubby got the meatloaf special and I got the baked potato soup. His Meatloaf was delicious (no green pepper or large chunks of onion..yaay!), green beans were tasty too as well as the mac n cheese! The potato soup was some of the best I've ever had. I didn't care for the bacon bits on top b/c it was very fatty (freshly cooked buy wasn't crispy). They have a full range of desserts, all of which looked delicious! They also had meals ready to take home and bake/cook such as soups and chicken pot pie etc. This place is operated by Mennonites so you know the food is better than average. Our waitress, Katreva, was super sweet, helpful and looked after our needs in a timely manner! We will definitely return!

The Fiesta salad is wonderful and they serve a large portion. The little dessert breads make great gifts. The place is always packed. It’s hard to check out after eating. Expect to stand in line. Wish they would come up with another way to cover payment for your lunch.

Cozy spot to enjoy some delicious homemade food - breads, sandwiches, soups, lasagna, cookies, pies, and cakes - all beautifully presented and scrumptious!

Really really really good!! The meatloaf sandwich is beyond good!! Great service and super experience all around!

The restaurant was clean with lots of indoor seating. We were greeted upon entry and got a table for 7 right away. The food was delicious, and the desserts were even better. Tge staff was friendly and professional. We will return

Second time dining at 211 Main, what a fantastic cafe! The best, I mean the best, home cooked fresh dishes, made from scratch cakes and desserts. I have seen their cakes used at wedding receptions, that’s how decorative, delicious and large they are!
Today, my daughter and I had their amazing Pecan, caramel cheesecake made from scratch! How often do you get to enjoy old fashioned made from scratch crust! If you are ever near Lavonia, this is definitely a must stop!!!!

Came here on a camping trip last year and was very impressed. So being in the area again with friends we new it was a must. Food and service was amazing!! And don’t even get me started on the desserts!! They even give you cake as an appetizer!! You definitely will not be disappointed!

We love to eat at 211 Main Street Restaurant. My wife loves their chicken, and I love the roast. We just took our two kids here, and my 8 month old loved the potatoes and gravy as well. The service is excellent and people are friendly. The atmosphere is family-friendly. We love their cakes and pies as well! I should have taken a picture of the size of the cake slice (we opted to bring our desserts home with us). If you have never ate here, give it a go! I believe you will love it too!

Editing to update after 2 years: This place is still awesome! Service was great! My glass never reached empty, and the young lady who kept filing it always had a smile. There was a young man working who also made sure any empty plate was promptly removed. They make the best Caesar Salad I’ve ever had! Look at the pictures of our desserts this time!!

We did not eat in the cafe, we came in to see what kind of treat could be purchased at the bakery for takeout.
We were hoping for donuts but they do not make donuts here. They make lovely pies and cakes and cupcakes and gorgeous big cinnamon rolls.
We got a tray which holds six really big cinnamon rolls and they are very substantial!!!

Twenty years after a friend suggested the restaurant I managed to make it there for lunch.
It’s hard to say which I enjoyed more, the food or customer service. The food was great, salad, sandwich, soup, dessert. The young lady that served was radiating with kindness, hospitality, and patience. Humble, knowledgeable, subtle, genuine smile. I’ve had the best experience in years.

Delicious food and friendly staff. The Southwest salad had a nice mesquite flavor. The meatloaf panini was flavorful. Topped off with the signature caramel pecan pie and peach tea.

Great family spot. Friendly service. Great menu. Had the spinach salad with some mesquite chicken and the tomato basil soup. Top notch. If you’re in the area and want something local you cannot go wrong here.

This place is a hidden gem. If you didn't know it was there you might miss it but boy does it make up for that. Big sandwiches, tasty soups, and new spins cole slaw(at least to me). Whatever you get make sure you save room for dessert. And not gonna leave this out they are pricey but they make it worth it.

Wow, what a place for great food, service, and friendliness! And don’t forget dessert! If you’re too full to eat it, which you probably will be since the food is so good, then get it to go!

Go there every so often with friends I really like this little place I always come home with treats they've baked the food is good it's just a good experience everyone should try this little place

This place is amazing. The service is excellent and the food even better. Everything, and I mean everything I’ve tried has been great. If you’re unsure of what you see on the menu, just ask and they’ll give you excellent recommendations. You’ll definitely want to save room for dessert, but if you don’t, take it with you and you’ll be thankful you did.

This is such a refreshing take on a sandwich shop/bakery. Usually busy but for good reason. Great place to grab a last-minute birthday cake for the office. You will be delighted by the excellence in service and tasteful dress at this Mennonite-owned establishment. We enjoy the friendly, smiling faces of several of the regular hostesses and servers, especially Mandelyn, Lacey, Carren and Merridy. Definitely try the Chipotle Turkey Sandwich and don't leave there without a slice of Strawberry Cream Cheese pie!
