The Golden Frog

I was just looking for a soup for dinner a d didn’t have high expectations about this place. Surprisingly, both the environment and food were just perfect. I had the Clam Chowder Soup, TWICE! It easily so good I almost forgot to take a picture to post, I have it posted half way gone. I will definitely go back for a fried frog leg!

Super friendly hometown atmosphere at the bar.
Beer batter on curds and the Walleye was light, crispy, so delicious.
Zum soup was great. What's that?
Sausage and kale in a creamy base.
The duck, yes, duck. Looked amazing. Wish I had room to try it or more time in town to work thru the menu.

Another day of b'day celebration w/friends. New wait staff that did a great job. 🦐 Shrimp was excellent (as always), friends prime rib was a beautiful cut & done to perfection.

Simply the best! Great bar and grill for all occasions! Especially, if you're on the river looking for a place to eat or grab a drink. In my opinion some of the best cheese curds around too! Highly recommend taking the time to check this place out!

A hidden gem. Been in operation for over a hundred years and I can see why. Friendly neighborhood atmosphere. I had a turkey sandwich which was superb. My GF ha a reuben so big she couldn't eat all of it. Tasted just as good later. Will return and highly recommend

Super cool place. Stopped here with several other people on a group motorcycle ride. Didn't stay long and didn't eat. But would definitely like to go back.

Hailey was one of the best Servers we have encountered in a long time. Food was great as always.

This was the best place to continue a community celebration and have the group get together for dinner and more conversation. Their back room was perfect. A great variety on their menu and great food and service. Thank you Kelly, for helping us make this happen and for taking such good care of us.

A storm had sent people indoors shortly before our arrival, so wait time for food was a little longer than usual. The wait staff we had was friendly and efficient. The kitchen staff made an error on our order, and our server was appologetic and offered complimentary dessert.
A pleasant place to eat.
Our meal was well prepared and tasted good. Guests around us sounded satisfied with their food.
Rest room was clean and in good repair.

Stopped at the Golden Frog for dinner while overnighting in the area. It appeared like they had gotten hit with a larger than expected crowd and they were doing the best they could. Our waiter was very apologetic for slow service that we honestly didn't even note. Some dishes arrived out of order due to kitchen issues but everything was hot, flavorful and well presented. Portions are more than fair for the prices and service was better than the waiter felt he was providing and apologizing for. We're more than excited to return. The cheese curds were hot and well prepared with a larger than expected portion. Clam Chowder was hot and flavorful with a nice mix of ingredients. The portion of Walleye was large and the sides were good. I ordered the Tenderloin Tips with mushrooms along with a side of Frog Legs. The steak was prepared as requested and the portion was well presented. The legs were as expected and hot and well battered. I'd order them again. The Golden Frog is on our list to visit again for sure.

We spent many hours at the golden frog. When we came with our whole family last October (all 14 of us), everyone that worked there, welcomed us like we were one of the locals, they were so nice and accommodating. We came back again this past weekend (stayed at seven hawks lodges) and had brunch (and the Bloody Mary bar)there this morning and it was phenomenal. Pat was our bartender and Kelli was our waitress. Both were so patient with our big group of 14. The food and drinks are great and everything is very reasonably priced on the menu. We love going to the golden frog we come to fountain city. Dusty was an awesome bartender too. Thanks for accommodating our big group. We look forward to coming back next year!

Great tip sandwich and soup. Soup was Italian sausage, on the spicy hot side but very good and I don't normally like creamy soup s

Excellent service. Delicious food. I had the Zum soup. I've never tasted anything like that in my life. It was amazing. When I finished, I wanted to lift the bowl to my face and luck it out. I resisted the fear of embarrassing my family. But I bought an extra quart to take home. I should have bought a gallon.

My girls and I went for our birthdays and everyone was super sweet, drinks were great, fries were excellent, and the sauce selection was amazing!

Had a blast at the Golden Frog last weekend! The staff and clientele were fun, the drinks and food were awesome and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend this place if/when you visit Fountain City, you won't be sorry.

Oh and on that note, don't bother going over to the Monarch, they cater to a more "progressive" clientele and the owner has no problem treating you rudely if you don't fit the bill.

Great place for a friendly atmosphere and very good food. Pat took care of my family very well and the food was amazing!
