This place is amazing!!!! A little dated, definitely not a brand new modern hotel, but I feel like if you're going to a place like this you want the cottage in the woods vibe.
Very clean! Even the spa tub was spotless which is huge because I've been some places where they aren't cleaned properly and just gross. They provide some games and puzzles which was fun. There's also a TV and DVD player in the bedroom.
The views are to die for! Waking up to look out at the river? Yes please!
There are no curtains or blinds on any of the windows, but with how high up you are and the way the windows are positioned on the other cottages, no one will see you unless you're right against the windows.
The stairs are definitely a workout, especially if you're staying in Coopers Hawk.
The driveway is a steep switchback, but my Jeep Cherokee handled it just fine, larger vehicles would fit, it would be a little tight though. The video I added is of the drive down the driveway. I did speed it up ×2 because I could only include a 30 second video so we did NOT drive that fast down, the turns are too tight to go too fast.
The restaurants nearby are amazing and really close. Winona is only about 15 minutes away and they have fast food places and a Walmart and Target.
There is a kitchenette which was perfect for us to keep some snacks, make breakfast, and make some morning coffee or tea.
Very big shower in the bathroom with shelves for your things.
We didn't end up using the sauna or the hiking trails because it wasn't warm when we were there, but I'm sure if it were a bit warmer we would have.
This place is honestly perfect if you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is exactly where you should go.

Beautiful lodges, gorgeous scenery. Loved this place. The Osprey is a bit sketchy to get up to but the lodge itself is lovely. The winery has some great wines. One of the best little weekend getaway spots.

We stayed here a few weeks ago and found our stay to be very lovely and relaxing. Plenty to do in the area such as hiking, wine tours, and sight seeing. The cabin was remarkably clean and cozy. The hand crafted touches really took it over the top. They provide homemade bread, eggs, sasuage, coffee, popcorn etc. Not to mention while checking they were so polite and helpful and they provide you a complimentary bottle of wine.

My only issue was the parking, now they do warn you parking is tight and suggested bring a smaller vehicle. Rather than a suggestion it should be a requirement but it parking adds to the adventure.

Be prepared to hike upstairs but the hike is well worth it. We had a small balcony /porch whee we had coffee every morning. Staff is extremely helpful. Everything was just as advertised. Can't wait to return

More of a 4.5 out of 5. Really the only downside was the lack of view and train noise. I am guessing the view is very impressive late fall to early spring before the trees block it. In August, there is not much to see. It was adventurous driving up the steep driveway and trying to park. The cottage was very nice and well equipped. Complimentary wine was also a nice surprise.

The driveway up was a bit intimidating. We stayed all the way up at Coopers cottage so the 120 or so stairs were a challenge, but I have a bum knee and I made it. The toilet made a couple of noises at night and the firebox made a little noise once in a while and the train was a bit loud in the morning. None of that stuff bothered me or my wife, but I'll put it out there for some people.
The gentleman that greeted us at the winery was very nice. The gal that was cleaning the cottages was also very kind and it appeared that she did her job well. The cottage was amazing. I have been working in various trades throughout my life, and if I were to empathize with the folks that built these places... what a bunch of badasses. The view was amazing. Especially at sunset. A couple of eagles flew right past our bedroom windows and there was a large buck on the bluff right behind our cottage. My wife and I try to get out on various date night adventures throughout the year. This may have been the best one yet. We will definitely return to check out their other cottages.

Decided to take long weekend and this place online. What a find! The cabins are great for relaxing and enjoying some great hiking around the area. (Highly recommend Perrot State Park). The cottages are set into the hillside and views are great. The amenities they left were great. Home made bread, eggs, sausage, wine, etc. Couple of fireplaces and a hot tub was great after hiking . Thanks for a great weekend!

We stayed in the Osprey Lodge which was away from the other cabins. Very secluded and quiet. We loved every moment of our anniversary vacation. Can't wait to return! We had a few very small issues, nothing that required attention. We miss it already.

While online looking for romantic getaways for my upcoming birthday I stumbled upon this place. My boyfriend and I decided on the Marsh Hawk Cottage. Reading some reviews of the place we thought renting a small vehicle would be a good idea rather than driving our huge truck. We had a little trouble finding the place when we first arrived to pick up our keys & map but we figured it out pretty quickly. Walking into the cottage we were both pleasantly surprised by how cozy and cute it was. The weather outside was a blustery -23 degrees outside our whole stay! BRRRR but we didn't mind being stuck inside our cozy cottage. I enjoyed reading the guest books filled with stories from other vacationers who stayed here while sitting next to the fire place. The views from the windows were beautiful. The jacuzzi tub was relaxing. I only wish it were a little warmer to enjoy sitting outside on the decks. I filled the bird feeder and watched as a few birds happily nibbled at the seeds :) There is no cable or antenna tv but a dvd player was provided as well as Netflix service. All in all my boyfriend and I agreed we both loved this place and plan on returning when the weather is warmer.

Amazing cabins on the bluffside overlooking the Mississippi River. It's a perfect weekend getaway! Friends of ours have stayed there for anniversaries and even a wedding night!

Beautiful set up, but you'd best be able to handle a few stairs. That aside, it's gorgeous for the price point and local amenities (there's some solid locales in the area).

A great place to stay with wonderful views. You will hear the train at night, but for those of us who have that "feature" in their home towns that's no big deal.
