We built our cottage and studio here at Mountain Meadows just over a year ago and we've been living in a beautiful dream ever since. Our studio is at ground level overlooking a meadow and Crooked Creek and the community gardens beyond. Our living area is above the studio. I'm a weaver and my husband is an artist so we both cherish our peace and quiet here at Mountain Meadows. But when our day in the studio is winding down we look forward to walks through the hills and valleys around our cottage and the possibility of seeing and chatting with our neighbors. Another thing we love is the community pavilion where there is the occasional social event planned if you choose to participate. It’s a beautiful place and we love it here but it’s really the amazing residents that make it so special.

Mountain Meadows is literally a DREAM COME TRUE!!! There is no place that we would rather be!!! My husband & I have been in our home now for a little more than a year. We have an amazing piece of property that overlooks a meadow, creek, and even has a a mountain view with the most stunning sunsets imaginable! All of the lots are south facing which I consider to be a very important factor considering the beautiful sunshine coming through our large windows overlooking our spectacular view! The entire landscape of Mountain Meadows leaves all of it's community in a state of gratitude, peace and tranquility. We are all inspired by our beautiful surroundings and share the commonality of the amazing spirit that is Mountain Meadows. It is something very special to have such a beautiful community of people, all of us sharing the love of being here. We have great times meeting at our beautifully designed pavilion for dinner, parties, and games. Mountain Meadows is a green certified development and one that deeply cares about nature and the environment. Thanks and gratitude to Bernie and Sandy who created this magical place with love and Beautiful intentions, a place we all love to call home!!!❤

My husband and I did not hesitate being the first home here in Mountain Meadows. We were drawn to the simple beauty of the land and to the vision and mission and the friendliness of the developers Sandy and Bernie Byrne.

Even though we were living in a beautiful mountain community before, we were pulled to Mountain Meadows for the stillness and beauty that beckoned our hearts.

One of the great features of Mountain Meadows is our beautiful pavilion which serves as a magnet to draw the community together with functions throughout the year. As I write this post, my husband is about to leave for the men's gathering at the pavilion. This is community.

Our community continues coming together because of our care and genuine affection for each other.

We haven't started building our "downsized" home yet, but know that we will feel like we are "living large" in less than half the square footage. Mountain Meadows has the most gorgeous views of the woods, mountains, rivers and valleys. Far removed from the clamor of larger cities, yet close enough to Asheville, Black Mountain, Hendersonville, and Weaverville to enjoy the many concerts, festivals and cultural events they offer including the world-renowned Penland School of Craft.

Aside from the location, why did we choose this particular "intentional community?" With so many to choose from, we wanted ownership of the land and the house we will build, the freedom to nourish our bodies, minds and spirits according to our own values, and to live in kinship with the land and our neighbors.

I also appreciate that all of the houses are built "green," and that there are no minimum size restrictions. The developer Bernie and his wife Sandy are part of the community, so they are "emotionally invested" in Mountain Meadows and all homeowners.

Currently living in Wisconsin, we will be far from all that we know and those we love. We have had the opportunity to meet many of our Mountain Meadows neighbors, and they are some of the most interesting and welcoming people that we have ever met: nurses, artists, musicians and even a cartographer (map maker). We already feel embraced, valued and respected by our future family.

Our Members were just invited today to write Reviews for our Mountain Meadows Community and oh my, what a great start! As developer of Mountain Meadows and designer/contractor for our community Pavilion, I am struck by the kindness, compassion, creativity, and camaraderie of the folks who have chosen to live and build here in our GreenBuilt community. 70% of the wood used in the Pavilion was harvested from Mountain Meadows and local river rock was utilized for the chimney that surrounds the fire place and grill. Yes, our community has a bit of the Henry David Thoreau Walden Pond feeling though we don't mind that kind of reality at all. :) Our infrastructure is well designed in regard to both form and function and each lot has its own unique feeling. South facing land with a creek running through it with 1-5 acre lots is quite a bonus...

Mountain Meadows is a growing intentional community located in the Blue Ridge Mountains approximately 30 minutes from Asheville NC. This is the type of community where people move to intentionally get to know their neighbors, to spend time together, to share in common interests (like fishing, hiking and gardening), as well as help one another when in need. It's really like an extended family. My wife and I just moved here from Michigan and couldn't be more pleased. The caring people in this community are absolutely wonderful. We've gotten together socially with various neighbors numerous times, mostly at the community pavilion, which is a great place to throw a party. We love the land here as well. The mountain forest landscape is gorgeous and abundant with wildlife. This spring we are ramping up our community garden where we will grow a wide selection of organic vegetables and fruits to share. We also are preparing for the future addition of chickens, rabbits and bees. My wife and I visited 12 other intentional communities before finally choosing Mountain Meadows. We are so glad we did!
