Red Lion Hotel Eureka

I've come here twice (2019, 2022) for the Redwood Coast Music Festival and am on my way in a few days for it. Each time I've stayed at the Red Lion and found it clean and comfortable. What has especially impressed me is the friendliness of the staff and their eagerness to help. Since the world is full of complaints, let me issue a corrective: NATHAN (let his name be written in lights or M&Ms, whichever he prefers) is the gold standard in helpful kindness, someone who goes the extra ten miles to help a guest in the nicest way possible. Corporate! Give this man a raise.

After my stay: it pains me tp write this, but my stay at the Red Lion will be my last. Certain things are still true: the friendliness of the staff and of housekeeping. The rooms are still clean although the hotel has the air of aging furnishings. But the management is still advertising a restaurant that no longer exists, which was an unpleasant surprise. Yes, there are pleasant places to eat, especially Siam Orchid, within walking distance, but had I known that there was nothing in the hotel I would have reconsidered my reservation. Yes, there was "breakfast" served Tuesday through Saturday, for $9 a person, one of the least satisfying meals one could have. I stuck to name brands -- the English muffin, the tea, the ream cheese -- and did myself no harm, but the "main dishes" of scrambled eggs and sausage were below average, to put it kindly. I wonder why Hello Hotels don't update their advertising to make it accurate. I was hungry a good deal of the time I was at the Red Lion, which is not what I'd hoped for.

There ARE other places to stay in Eureka. I've left the star-ratings alone as a kindness.

I was very thankful and blessed when the Red Lion employees let me use the guest computer (even though I wasn't a guest) .
I used the computer to update my resume for the housekeeping position, and submitted it .
Well, I work at the Red Lion hotel now.
I am thrilled and excited to work at such a beautiful hotel!

The staff was beyond helpful. No free breakfast, but clean rooms.

The website we booked through had some incorrect information about amenities (not the fault of the hotel). But overall the stay was quite nice. Location near downtown Eureka and the Baywalk. Staff was friendly and helpful. The manager, Tim, was one of the most pleasant people I've met.

The front desk man was friendly and nice . The bed was very comfortable along with the pillow. Highly recommend. I have stayed there for 2 years now.

Very comfortable beds, quite, and the staff is amazing. The guy who checked my friend and I in did it without a reservation but he went above and beyond. My friend burnt his wrist really bad and the man at the front desk have used some burn cream and other things to tend to the burn for free.

This weekend is my second time staying in Eureka. I chose this hotel again because of its proximity to Humboldt State, the awesome staff, cleanliness of the rooms, great coffee, and it feels safe here. This time around priceline messed up my reservation and without hesitation the staff fixed it, and upgraded my room at no charge! I don't understand why they have less than 4 stars but they have 5 stars from me. I'll stay here every time I visit Eureka! Thank you staff for always being so accommodating to me and my family.

Spacious room with good service. Do try their breakfast. it's amazing, the staff went out of their way to open the kitchen for us..

This place was perfect for us and our 2 little dogs. We were given a room with no carpet on the main floor. The room was spacious and clean. There was some wear from previous doggy guests, but that is to be expected. The towels and bedding were very white and clean. Comfy beds and fluffy pillows, large TV, balcony, tiny fridge and microwave. We would stay here again.

I have been here every week day for the last 5 weeks and I have nothing but great things to say. The rooms are clean, the staff members are kind and helpful, and it’s pretty close to downtown! I was stressing out about a miscommunication with the front desk and Tim George was able to get it resolved for me worry free. Whether you’re looking for a quality hotel to visit Humboldt county for extended time, or just passing through, Red Lion Hotel is a great place to stay.

It's not a 5 star hotel but for what it is and in this price range i'd give it 5 stars on Google every time! Clean comfortable room with good beds, quality sheets etc, no plastic to make you sweat. Excellent TV. Nice staff. Lots of construction going on now in the front of the hotel so request the back side facing the ocean. Shower heads are low and the pressure is not great but lots of hot water.

This Hotel is a jewel for anyone traveling with their pet. The staff is polite and friendly and very helpful. The accommodations are wonderful in that your rooms are on the first floor and wood so your pet has quicker access to outside . Everyone is nice the rooms are clean and comfortable. We will be staying here again with our doggy. I give this place 5 stars !

The restaurant was closed but they gave info for a close restuarant and it was such good food. The air conditioner worked the room was big. The pillows soft. They even provided ear plugs when i asked. With the 3 adults and 3 kids we slept well and the room was the perfect size for us. Close to Starbucks a great Mexican restaurant and the zoo.

We were looking for a reasonable hotel in Eureka. Before booking with Priceline we called the front desk and asked for two things. A room with a bathtub and also facing the bay. Kayla could not have been nicer with her response. We decided to stay based on her attitude and assurances.
The room has been remodeled and was very clean and comfortable. Also there was a refrigerator. Microwave and coffee maker in the room.
We hit the happy hour at the bar downstairs and were happy to be served by Debbie. She was very friendly and informative about the area.
We had a great stay and will stay here again!

The red lion is a great place to stay with nice rooms, great lounge, and customer service! Charles Saghter at reception desk was incredibly helping with booking the reservation, covering amenities, safety protocols, and made it a pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend to others.

This is my first time to review. The customer service here was outstanding. I was travelling and got in late, and after I checked in and parked, the gentleman from the front desk was walking the parking lot to make sure it was safe and offered to help me with my things and even remembered my name. Next he noticed some gentlemen in the room next to me were enjoying their evening so he offered to change my room for more quiet. Amazing. The next morning I made fresh coffee in my room and the gentleman at the front desk offered to get a to go cup for my coffee. Great customer service for the entire stay and I felt safe. They also allow pets. Great stay.

Friendly staff, delightful accommodations. The beds are SO comfortable. The water is hot and high pressure. You can even program heating/AC. It's clean and tidy, with ample supplies available. And if something isn't right, they will do their best to fix it right away! You're sure to have a good stay here.

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Lion. The bathrooms were clean and the shower temperature was good. The beds were comfortable. My husband enjoyed the hot breakfast. The second entrance card swipe did not work well. Nice hotel.

Room was clean and spacious, bed was not hard as a rock, room had a large TV, microwave, fridge, and charging station for my phone. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. We booked an extra night online and when we went to make sure they knew they already up to have us in the same room and clearly explained how to "re check in" between the two days. There are many sketchy places in Eureka but I will gladly stay here again.

The ONLY place we will stay in Eureka. It's an older building but otherwise very well kept. Right when you come into town so it makes coming and going easier than having to go through downtown. We enjoy Samoa so its right by the bridge to Samoa. There is a large homeless population but the staff do well on keeping them off the property. Sierra did an awesome job cleaning the room and left a nice note.
