Melaza Bistro

The service at this restaurant was impeccable. I didn't have a reservation at peak dinner time and they squeezed me in! My girlfriend got the pumpkin bisque, which she really liked. The chimichurri steak was also delicious, and so were their salmon.

I was very impressed because when I got to the restaurant part of the menu was Puerto Rican!! The food was spectacular, the service was very excellent. I wanted to meet the chef but there were many diners in the place.

Enjoyed dinner here recently for the first time and we will definitely be back. Great ambiance and service. We started with the pulled pork plaintain cups appetizer which were delicious and unique. My friend had the Cuban sandwich which came with delicious yucca fries with a chipotle aioli, and I had the Annatto rice and pulled chicken sofrito. The main plates come with a house salad and roll. Recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

What a delightful restaurant! We loved it so much, we dined there two nights in a row. The Caribbean menu was a treat to this gluten sensitive diner, as every entree is naturally gluten free! Each tapas, entree, or dessert we tried over two evenings was prepared with depth of flavor, fresh ingredients, and pleasing presentation. We found the atmosphere to be charming and the staff friendly and courteous. While the restaurant is struggling with the national dilemma of staff shortages, these hardworking people kept smiling, got our food to us piping hot, and even had time to recommend dishes when we couldn’t decide. Don’t miss an opportunity to enjoy this delicious restaurant!

The cuisine was unreal. I got the pork shank and it fell off of the bone it was so tender. The steak my husband got was cooked to perfection and so well seasoned. The tres leche cake was also sublime. We originally dined here because it was the only well-rated place that was open on a Monday night but next time we visit Woodstock we’ll seek it out regardless of what else is open because we were so impressed by the quality of flavors and the service!

Best filet I have ever had. Period! Cooked perfectly, the coffee and chili seasoning made the excellent cuts of beef super flavorful. Pork shank fell off the bone. We started with empanadas, garlic shrimp (amazing thick sauce!), and plantains & guacamole - great start. Finished with key lime pie and creamy flan. We had dined at Melaza 4 years ago, just before the pandemic. So glad we had the chance to return and look forward to the next time! Thank you, Chef!

My husband and I ate here during our stay at Woodstock Inn. I had the Cuban sandwich and Yuka fries and it was great. My husband had the Jamaican Jerk chicken and it was also good. The service was excellent. I would recommend.

I really enjoyed the experience! The restaurant has a great vibe and the food was phenomenal. The pork was tender and fell off the bone and all the other food was incredible as well. They have delicious virgin piña coladas and the staff are very kind.

This place is such a gem!! The food, service and the experience. Our waitress Jeanine was amazing, made awesome remandations from the appetizer to the dessert. I tried the Shirt Steak and it is came out perfectly cooked to how I like my steak. All the flavors blended well together and it was a symphony of perfection on the palate. We weren't looking for this Bistro but glad we ended up here on this cold rainy evening. Also the Moho oil that comes with the Artisan bread; excellent!!

This is a local Woodstock Gem! We had the rolls that came out still warm from the oven (a must order). The Plantains were crispy and the Ceviche was well seasoned. The Shrimp & Garlic dish was also tasty with a white wine butter sauce. We had an epic end to our dinner with Tres Leches so make sure you save room for desserts! Our server Robin was amazing and took good care of us.

Menu not extensive but everything was excellent. Amount of pork shank in my entrée was enough for three! Portion size for jerk chicken was smaller. They participate in Upside app so that was a plus also. Our server was great!

Wonderful meal. We shared the vegetable paella and added chicken and chorizo. Just the right combination. When in Woodstock would highly recommend stopping.

Ate here tonight for the first time and it was outstanding! Service was spot on and the food was fresh and full of flavor. We had the swordfish and the skirt steak and both were exceptional. Lots of places to eat in Woodstock but this one stands out as one of the very best. Making reservations via email worked remarkably well too.

I have been here twice and the food is fabulous! Most recently I was there last week and they had a special of swordfish with a lime coconut curry sauce. Portions were perfect and the sauce was amazing! Though I wouldn't have minded an extra roll to dip in the her bed oil! If they bottled that sauce I would buy it, it was so amazing. Well balanced and not overwhelming of any flavor. Swordfish and that sauce were a great combo. A nice atmosphere and many things on the menu looked wonderful that I can't wait to go back and try something else. Unless that lime coconut curry sauce shows up on the menu!

They were having a really rough night being understaffed and pretty much the only place open in town for dinner today but they handled the situation in the best possible way. The wait was understandably a little longer but everyone was doing their best to move along and attend to every customer. The food was delicious. We had the garlic shrimp, the pork shank and the blackened salmon. Everything tasted wonderful! Kudos to the crew for the hard work!

The food was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly along with the entire staff! We ordered a guavavtini and a rum and coke which BOTH were amazing! My arroz con pollo was delicious! Try the empanadas, so good. 10/10 recommend this place. We will be back.

Don’t let the slightly kitschy island vibes throw you off, the chicken sofritos are the best tasting dish in Woodstock. Very surprisingly and delightful find

Excellent dinner, start to finish. Waitstaff was also attentive and friendly. It's more than just "tapas", which could easily just be called "appetizers." Regular full meals are also available. In addition to specialty drinks, a full bar is available and dessert was very good too.

The ambience was wonderful. The dining room was beautifully decorated and the music was so enjoyable. Our waitress Ericka was lovely and very attentive. The food was amazing! The plantain and guacamole appetizer was so fresh and light. The dinner salad was delicious, especially the raspberry dressing! The little roll that came with the salad was fresh and warm and the dipping oil for it was AMAZING!! (Garlic, cilantro, and spices)

I had the skirt steak with chimichurri and my hubby had the pork shank. Both were excellent!! They were tender and bursting with flavor!

I would highly recommend this great restaurant to anyone visiting Vermont!
