This place is an icon of the area and there are not many book stores like this anymore. There is a great little coffee cafe inside and just an awesome selection of literature! My daughter loves the kids section and I am a fan of a good fictional novel almond with biographies and historical works. There are areas to read quietly as well as free Internet and tables to meet with others. There is an almost unexplainable air of wonder and welcome and I will always be back. Skip ordering on Amazon and go into this wonderful establishment because you will find what you were looking for and likely discover more treasures.

Wonderful bookstore. Great children's section, a huge selection of moderately priced used books in the basement, and a chill and relaxed atmosphere. And being one who reads exclusively non-fiction, they have a great selection of history/political/biographies. The attached café has the usual lattes and coffees and such. We could have been there for hours, but our toddler lost her patience after a while. 🙂

Love this book store is in an old theater. Right when you walk in it’s a travel section which is what I was headed for. While they didn’t have what I wanted, it was a lotta fun to look around. The fiction section is impressive! Downstairs is their used book section—I will stop back again to check of their offerings. 😊

I’ve been told this is a shade less cool than the original main location, but it is lovely and I had a nice time. Good selection of books out, plus a good amount of pre-owned and sale books. It felt a little hollow in spots but someone was saying this was an old theater which could account for that feeling. I got a drink at the cafe and enjoyed looking at the author pictures on the wall. We parked down the road but I read that they validate parking.

I’ve been to some of the other Tattered Cover locations, but this was my first visit to their Head Quarters.

This Tattered Cover is amazing, the variety of books offered and the sheer volume of books. This location also has a coffee shop.

I had just had physical therapy and was in pain. Otherwise, I would have spent even more time exploring and going down stairs.

I highly recommend visiting this independently owned bookstore.

The bookstore has a parking lot, some 2-hour spaces along the side, and metered parking in front.

Very reader friendly bookstore on Colfax. Plenty of places to sit and relax. If you're a true bookworm you could easily spend the better part of a day in this store just browsing. The store holds periodic new book releases with the author there to speak about the book and do book signings. This place is definitely worth a visit more than just monthly.

Very friendly environment. Awesome employees. Small coffee shop with study/reading areas. Very wide selection. Love the local section to support local authors!

Easily one of the best bookstores I’ve ever visited. The space is a former theatre, and you can see interesting remnants of the rigging or imagine the grand entrance in the lobby with the sweeping staircase to the basement. Lots of nooks, displays, and sitting areas. Hit the basement for a great selection of used and bargain books plus local authors.

This is a lovely bookstore and cafe, and this place is a gem! The employees are nice, and the store is quite large. I was happy to find plenty of books I liked! There was a large section of books for kids and cute sketchbooks for artists, too.

This book store is a Denver staple.

From the moment you step in and see the Forrest green carpet to the dark brown shelves. The book store is iconic.

The smell of books hits you as the clocks on the corner stand out. The selection is always amazing and the staff are wonderful. This is always my stop when I visit Denver.

Wonderful place with a wide variety of books, friendly and helpful staff and lots of places to sit when you start getting lost in a book. Just a really relaxed atmosphere and so much fun to walk around in! Plus having a café with delicious snacks/drinks at can never hurt

Tattered Cover is amazing! I might be biased since I'm a reader and writer. You'll have to go for yourself and see what all the fuss is about. The staff is so helpful and the selection of books is extensive. My son and I spent a few hours here and it felt like 5 minutes.

I wish this store had a location in Chicago! Thanks so much for the massive book haul, the educated staff, the spooky stories, and the amazing atmosphere. 👏 If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be stopping by again.

I am a fan of independent book stores. I like Tattered Cover because of that but also the Colfax location is in a renovated old theater. If look around, you can spot lighting fixtures and other remnants of the theater. Stand on the old stage and imagine performing to an audience. The building is cool and book stores are worth supporting, so I recommend checking it out!

The tattered cover bookstore has been an icon of warmth, fun, reading and shelves of books. It is the finest bookstore between here and California. Its staff are smart and helpful. You can order or find any book in the world. I have enjoyed many afternoons and evenings at the TC. Their little bistro is also a gem. And of course it is right next door to a fine movie theater and twist and shout, the icon of vinyl, music, and movies.
I love this place!

The employees are very helpful. The selection of books is impressive. The available step stools to reach a little higher is a nice touch. The quiet back room to sit and relax with your new book has an old library vibe and I'm here for it.

Neighborhood bookstore that is absolutely amazing!! I believe it used to be an old stage because it has a stage platform and wordage indicating so. Soo neat!! The bookshelves are absolutely huge and they have every. They also have an adorable café and seating areas to the left hand side. Plus- you can bring your coffee into the film center next-door!!

Let's be honest if you ever had the opportunity to go to the Tattered Cover Book Store back in the day this doesn't compare at all. That place, all 4 stories of it was magical and amazing!!! This to me is much different. Kinda of the same vibe as the last one but not as many nooks and corners you can hide in to get lost in a book. Still has a coffee shop in it and the kids level is at the bottom. My kids loved it and so that made me happy. Staff was very friendly too:)

I was visiting Denver and had to visit the Tattered Cover. I spent at least an hour wandering around. I sat and had a cup of tea and chatted with my husband. The staff was very helpful and the ambiance is just really fun. It's one of those big cavernous places where you can get a little lost. It's a great bookstore. If I lived in Denver I would make it a regular stop.

This is seriously the best book store I've ever been to. The way they have everything laid out was eye-catching, and they had so many good deals or special finds that I left with $100 worth of books. Definitely worth stopping there for any book lover. They also have really cool author events almost every day each month. I'll be sad when I have to leave Denver because I won't get to come to this bookstore anymore.

Very cozy bookstore with any type of genre that you could want. You can also get a nice pastry or drink at the cafe connected at the entrance. Plenty of spots to sit down as well
