Twice a year we hold a private car event here, the staff are awesome, the locals are accommodating even though we have some louder vehicles, the sites are always well maintained as well as the bathrooms. Showers and running water throughout is extra nice. One of my favorite mountains. Toll road to multiple pull offs on the mountain make it a great low effort view of the vistas for those unable to make the hiking trails. Highly recommend!

Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, Mt Ascutney State Park is a nature lover's paradise. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a scenic spot to go for a run, this park offers plenty of opportunities to get outside and explore.

One of the best things about Mt Ascutney State Park is the 3.7 mile auto road that is closed to car traffic in the off season. This makes it the perfect place to go for a hill training run, as you'll have the road all to yourself. The road is challenging, with a steady incline the entire way up, but the stunning views of the surrounding mountains make the effort well worth it. And if you're not up for running the entire way, there are plenty of places to stop and catch your breath along the route.

But the auto road isn't the only attraction at Mt Ascutney State Park. The park also boasts several hiking trails, ranging from easy strolls to challenging treks up the mountain. The trails are well-maintained and offer a variety of terrain, from wooded paths, rocky outcropping and a lookout tower with panoramic views.

For those looking to make a day of it, there are picnic areas and restrooms available at the base of the mountain. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even bring your camping gear and spend the night at one of the park's campsites.

Overall, Mt Ascutney State Park is a wonderful place to visit year-round, but it's particularly beautiful in the off-season once the snow has melted and you have the place all to yourself. Whether you're a runner, hiker, or just looking for a scenic spot to spend the day, you won't be disappointed with a trip to this Vermont gem.

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views. Smooth drive up but not for the faint of heart. Put on some bug repellent especially if you'll be hanging around a while. 0.7 mile hike from the top on foot. There are two locations to hang out. A citywide view or a mountain side view. There are bathroom stops along the way and a portable one on the top. Picnic tables are everywhere so pack a lunch or snack and soak up the glory of Gods creation!

First time ever going there. Wasnt crowded, bit buggy, and hot. There is a fee to park $5.00 a person. Awesome scenery.

Great camping and hiking. Absolutely breathtaking views. Some hikes are relatively moderate, some are more challenging. The observation tower is a must see.

Beautiful clean sites and great staff. Firewood on hand for purchase 6 dollars got us through the night with one log left over. Bathrooms with paid showers 0.50 for 5 min are very clean and comfortable. Overall, about as perfect of a campground as can be without getting too far into glamping territory.

The Windsor trail is a well marked and nicely kept trail. It's rather steep. You'll want a good supply of drinking water with you. There are areas of smooth, steep granite that can be dangerous if you're not very careful about your footing. The views from the fire tower are well worth the climb. Full cell phone service at the summit.

Gorgeous mountain with many options of hiking length or driving to make the summit. Although there is some hiking regardless if how far up you drive. Enjoy!

view was amazing, cost of $4 a person was reasonable. Park entrance is at 500 ft, parking lot is at 2500 ft the hike to 3644 ft is on foot

The drive up is slow, lots of curves and bumpy at times. But once you reach the parking lot, you are greeted with a spectacular view and easy access to several trails. Well worth the price of admission (state park fee per person - no veterans discount available). This photo is from Castle Rock, which is a short hike from the main summit trail. Just make sure to wear proper footwear and watch where you step, as some portions of the trail have loose rock and may not be easy to navigate for some.

Great place for a nice day hike with beautiful panoramic views at the lookout. We didn't camp, but drove through the campground which looked extremely clean and the individual spots were private. I would definitely camp here in the future if the opportunity arose.

The views from the summit were a bit underwhelming but the west peak took our breaths away!

Was $11 for a day pass, but the view is worth it. You can drive most of the way to the top with one pull out along the way for a great view. At the top is another great view, but I highly recommend to everyone that you take the 0.7 mile hike to the top where there is amazing views from a observation tower. One thing to note is that while the hike is short, it gains a lot of elivation and good shoes are recommend.

Scenic Area and a great place to hike, Mt. Ascutney offers various hiking trails, and mountain biking trails at the former Ascutney ski area. Definitely a nice area of Vermont to check out!
