Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner

I saw this place on Instagram, recommended by the_denver_foodie the other day so we happened to be sort of on this side of town and decided to try it. It’s old school alright. It’s a bit in the dirty-ish side, dusty window sills, food on the floor, etc but the bathroom was clean, the service was excellent and the food was pretty darn good. Hubby had an omelette with pancakes and Hadrians and I had the Hawaiian burger with onion rings and iced tea. It’s always a gamble getting iced tea out cuz I’m picky in that I don’t like old tea and so often restaurants serve old tea. This iced tea was perfect and the burger was excellent. Even without the trimmings the burger itself was crispy on the outside, juicy and perfectly well done on the inside yet not over done. Our server was spot on with everything and so friendly. The music was great. We will definitely go back.

We had a late breakfast at Davies, had to visit for the memories. We first ate there in the '70s, and then occasionally over the decades when we came into the city from the mountains.

I had breakfast tacos (corn tortillas and bacon) and they were tasty. Loved the hot green sauce they served on the side. Husband had biscuits and gravy, he said it was very good too. The server was excellent - very nice, friendly, efficient.

The bathroom hasn't changed, still has the 1950s pink ceramic tile and sink.

This place looks like a hole in the wall but it is great! It is bigger on the inside than it looks. It is a very down home place with very reasonable prices and good portions. I ordered The Handyman with two over medium eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and pancakes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the slices of bacon were the biggest I have ever seen, and the pancakes were normal size (instead of dinner plate size) and super light and fluffy. The only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that the hash browns didn't have much flavor. However, a little salt and pepper did the trick! All in all definitely one of my new breakfast go to places.

We had breakfast at Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner. Nostalgic food just like the 60s but in a clean environment. There is something about the butter they use that makes the pancakes taste so very very good. Worth more visits.

They only have drip coffee and it is smooth. Get your latte across the street before you go in.

It took me far too many years to finally get here. I've eaten here twice now and have had a consistent experience. Food is great, prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a mom&pop feel, this is it. Really enjoy this place.

60+ years and still going strong. I used to work down the road and have eaten here a lot. Has that small town diner feel on a very busy part of Colfax. I've tried just about every item on the menu and it's all good. Service is always great and pricing is still very reasonable. I always try to eat outside but the west side of the diner is the best place to sit. (my opinion).

Was so great to have good old home cooking. Have loved this place my whole life. See you next time great service

Love the food. Prices are great. I love to sit out on the patio. This is my mom's favorite morning spot. We only go for breakfast.

This place was easy to find, there was lots of parking in the back too. Old fashioned diner with fantastic service and fresh hot and tasty food. We both got The Handyman meal and it was delicious. The staff was so friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. The entire meal was cooked perfectly.

Chicken waffles best I’ve ever had. Service was awesome. Environment could use a cleaning but whatever. Awesome.

We’ve been coming here for years! Was sad to see Tammy & Wayne had sold it. BUT! I had to write a review. Jennifer, the new owner is great, very hospitable & she’s doing a great job! Menu has a few changes but nothing drastic. Prices are still very reasonable, especially given costs have risen EVERYWHERE in the last few years! Solid, yummy, satisfying diner! If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s excellent!

i ordered for delivery, and yes food is usually cold. THIS was HOT!!! This was hot and delicious! I will definitely try more items. thank you!

Had breakfast. DELICIOUS 😋 My steak was a bit overcooked for medium rare but the scrambled eggs and hash browns were fantastic. Too much food to eat so the pancakes were brought home to enjoy later, still great.

Such a cool diner. Great food, super fast service. Everything was priced so low!
