I stopped by this morning to purchase a local hand-made card since Valentine's Day is coming up, and I was warmly greeted by the owners. Steve and I started talking about poetry which inspired me to take a look at their poetry shelf and I found the perfect book of Joy Harjo poems for my wife to go along with the card. I then ordered a cup of coffee began to peruse the kids books (I'm a teacher so I can't help myself) and found the perfect book on the Grand Canyon for my 6th grade niece. I started to check out the toys, but it became clear to me that if I stayed much longer, then I would undoubtedly find another perfect gift, so I quickly finished my coffee, paid for the card and books, thanked the proprietors and shielded my eyes from the awesome art for sale on the way out the door. It's a great store, but watch out because you might go in looking for a greeting card and come out with a bag of books, toys and art:-)

Whatta spot! The book/toy store they use as a front was poorly stocked but their money laundering services are unmatched in the area! I very much appreciate their commitment to keeping browsing eyes away from my dirty money

I have not been to to store, however I pre-ordered a books through an Author to be sent to a local bookstore. When the book finally came in, they called to let me know and left a voicemail with their hours. The employee called again 10 minutes later noting my home address was less than five miles away, and they offered to drop off the book for me. I was pleasantly surprised and accepted the delivery, which they delivered at the end of their work day. I would pre-order to them again.

I am not sure why there are so many horrible reviews - I think these people are highly misunderstood.

The reason they don’t allow electronics in the store is because in the recent past, somebody took photos of their store and created a fake website in order to scam people out of money. By the time the owners realized what was happening, people had already ordered off the fake website and they had no idea why people were calling them asking where their book order was. They involved the police and initiated a formal investigation.

That being said, it’s understandable that they are apprehensive about people using electronics in their store. What’s so wrong with taking 5 minutes away from your phone to browse in a bookstore anyways? Put down the phone and live on the moment.

Granted they don’t have the most extensive book selection, the owners have been nothing short of kind and welcoming in every interaction I’ve had with them and deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Stop being so critical of people, stop making assumptions, and stop trying to deter people from shopping in their store. They have been in business since 1995 and are just trying to make an honest living. If you don’t like the store or the vibe, that’s fine - shop somewhere else. But what gives you the right to demonize something you don’t understand and convince others that your experience is the end-all be-all?

I’ve been thinking about writing this review for about two years now. I stumbled upon this strange little place a while ago and like many of the other reviews say, I was asked to leave almost immediately. Surely, I thought, it had something to do with the way I looked, but I read the reviews and it amazed me to find out that my incident wasn’t personal at all. In fact, it is my belief that this place hates everyone equally. Obviously, this is where things change for the positive for me.. Denver is changing every day and not always are we going to find a place we can all bond over. This place is one of the unique experiences I’ve ever had. The no phone policy, the fact that this place has over 100 One-Star reviews but has outlasted the Recession and the Pandemic. Few can accomplish this feat.

From the looks of it. The owner is very responsive to their google reviews and updates their website regularly. Unfortunately, the aggressive nature of the reviews has left the owner to defend themselves. Their policies are strange, yes. At the same time, they’ve had a business in a great location for many years. Who am I to tell them how to run a business? I hope that one day I can get to the bottom of this little mysterious place and finally put my mind at ease.

Wonderful family owned locally sourced farm to table money laundering service. From drug money to cartel cash they have helped make all manner of monies legally reportable to the IRS.

Who cares if they don’t want electronics to be used in their store? So they’re old school, bear with them. I had such a lovely encounter with the owners of this shop! They were so welcoming to my one year old son and I, grabbing him a box of toys to play with while I shopped for books. Nice selection of books and some very sweet toys. The owners were as friendly as can be and we enjoyed our time there. It reminded me of a small town bookstore from back in the day, before our phones ruled our lives.

I have been supporting this bookstore since it opened over 10 years ago. My husband, my grandchildren and I love this neighborhood gem.....Start by building a relationship with the owners. They are good people who honor reading, children’s discovery and want to keep technology outside the doors. Respecting their space is fair. Giving kindness, kindness will be returned....

I called just before the store closed looking for a book. They had it in stock but I didn’t have time to get there before they closed and the owner very graciously offered to deliver it to the restaurant where I was eating up the street. A lot of the reviews on here aren’t great but sometimes people just operate a little differently than what you’re used to. In my experience the owner/employee (not sure which) was exceptionally kind and helpful

I echo the last review, I don’t understand why all the negative reviews. This is a great neighborhood bookstore that we should cherish and support. It serves as my go to for kids books as birthday gifts for nephews and friends’ kids. The owners are always friendly, helpful, and provide good recommendations. Don’t let the negative reviews stop you from going here.

Allow yourself to take a break from the electronic world in this charming “Mom & Pop” bookstore! The owners are friendly booklovers and will chat with you if you give them a chance. The book selection seems small at first but is well-curated and comprehensive, and of course they can order what you want just about as quickly as you-know-who. They also carry a good assortment of toys, board games and puzzles.

Went on Saturday for small business Saturday. I received lots of help with selecting gifts. I even got 20% off for paying cash! They had cute children’s education toys and many best seller books.

Nice quaint toy shop with a good selection of books. It's a shame to see companies like Amazon put stores like this one out of business. Somehow they're holding on! Go support your local small business!

I love this bookstore like no other. It's like the Room of Requirements for books. I love the owner and the staff. This is no Barnes and Noble... this store has books and crannies filled with treasure.

We ordered a few children's books from this place during the pandemic and they were a pleasure to deal with - they even dropped the books off at our house for free after they arrived because we don't live too far from the store!

Hate it when awesome small businesses, like this one, get slammed on Google for no good reason.
I've been here multiple times and always found great gifts, excellent conversation, and helpful staff.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I don't believe all the one star reviews are justified. Maybe people should try disengaging from their phones once in a while.
