Truly a romantic, relaxing, exceptional experience. Our family was greeted by Inn Keeper Phil and also Giselle. So kind and welcoming to us after a long journey. They hosted a happy hour that was so delightful. Phil had many recommendations for dinner which were spot on. After returning, we found an evening snack, still warm. We had the most beautiful room and every detail was thought of (take your pick; every room was uniquely decorated to the hilt). Waking up to a multi-course breakfast was not hard when you smell the baked egg souffle.
Upon our return from a long day of skiing at Killington, we were greeted with a roaring fire and another delicious happy hour. Such a gorgeous home and the hospitality was amazing. Phil, you have truly outdone yourself. BEST EVER!

We had a 5 Star weekend at the Deer Brook Inn with Phil and Gisele. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and so well appointed. Phil pays attention to every detail. Our room was very comfortable, we truly felt we were in our own home. Phil is a master chef! We had two incredible breakfast meals. Phil was able to tailor the menu to my diet needs. The location of the Inn is ideal, quiet but close to all the things you want to see and do in Woodstock and locations nearby. Phil was an excellent advisor as to what to see and do while we were in Woodstock. Deer Brook Inn is an exceptional property and so are the Innkeepers!

Everything at deer brook inn was amazing! The rooms were modern and comfortable and made us feel like we were at home. Phil (the inn keeper) went out of his way to make our stay a unique experience. From suggesting local attractions to making restaurant reservations on our behalf, Phil and the staff of Deer Brook excelled and made us feel like family. The breakfasts, appetizers, and late night snacks were delicious and prepared with care. From extended skiing trips to weekend getaways, Deer Brook inn is a must visit!

We stayed at Deer Brook for 3 nights and were warmly welcomed from beginning to end by our charming and very warm host Phil. Phil is a seasoned inn-keeper and knows the hospitality business like no other we've experienced. Everything was curated to perfection, including the design of the entire B&B, his recommendations for restaurants (try SoLo Farm and Table), tremendously delish breakfasts (different each day), and general bonhomie. The B&B is spotlessly clean, and full of period-appropriate artwork. But really, it was Phil and his warm welcome that made our stay. We will be back for certain.

My fiance and I stayed at the Deer Brook Inn this past weekend, and already have plans to go back. Upon walking up to the front door, the owner Phil welcomes you, and gives you the 'grand tour'. Within spending 5 minutes with him, you truly feel like you have known him for 20 years and are a guest in his home. He really has thought of every, and I mean every detail. From the decor, bottled waters, happy hour, outdoor lawn games, and breakfast, everything is made to make you comfortable. You can really tell he has 25 years of hospitality experience! The breakfast is simply out of this world. We had incredible peaches and cream brioche french toast! My fiance and I have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world, and I have never been treated this well in any of them. We can not wait to go back.

My fiancĂ© and I stayed at Deer Brook this fall. It was our favourite place to stay in on our two week road trip - it is definitely a five star place, competitive with any high end hotel or inn. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast is so good (better than what you’d find in a restaurant!). They also provide the best cocktail hour with hors oeuvres and wine. The bed was super comfortable too. The room also came with google home which was a nice touch. Phil is the best host and does everything he can to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. I can’t recommend Deer Brook enough!

Deer Brook Inn offered gourmet breakfasts, high-quality amenities, and ideal locations for long/short hiking as well as local cuisine. And they all far exceeded our expectations. This is a unique place where impeccable service and laidback coziness harmoniously coexist. It is Phil, the innkeeper, who masterfully produces this experience with his gracefully curated personal touch! I can not praise this place enough. Simply, highly recommended!!

This was an excellent experience. Phil, the host, went out of his way to provide us with everything we needed: amazing breakfast each morning, late afternoon appetizers and drinks, fresh baked cookies right before bed, plus information about local things to do. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and well-decorated. I highly recommend this B&B.

Side note: As of this writing, Google classifies this place as a "2 star hotel". It is definitely a higher-end establishment than that.

My girlfriend and I had our first bed and breakfast experience here, we really picked a winner! Everyone is super friendly, and you can tell that they are very experienced hosts. Phil-thank you so much for the hospitality and the great cooking! I think the Amazon Alexa is a nice touch, but not 100% necessary, maybe just keep the two you have. Thanks for making our stay so great!

My wife and I were looking for a charming, Vermont B&B experience over this past President's Day weekend to celebrate 8 years together -- the Deer Brook Inn blew-away our expectations. Having recently been renovated (in 2016) by the incredible new owner, Phil, the inn had all the charm of its rich heritage (make sure to ask the story of the building!) with all the comfort and amenities of modern, high-end living with a rustic charm. We stayed in the master suite and it was fantastic, but I cannot imagine any of the rooms aren't equally special. Did I mention a beautiful arrangement of flowers with a personal note were waiting for us in the room in honor of our anniversary? What a nice (and meaningful) touch!

Part of the reason we love B&Bs is for the personal, and customized service that come from great innkeepers – Phil (the owner) basically wrote the book on how to do this better than anyone else (quite literally, he had just come back from speaking at a national conference on providing exceptional service at boutique hotels and inns). We got lost in amazing conversation with him and the other wonderful guests over breakfast, and during the evening hors d'oeuvres – we lost track-of-time on every occasion! We made real connections in addition to just having a place to stay :)

Last (but certainly not least) there was the food/dining – our multi-course breakfasts had the quality, taste, and appearance that ranked amongst any of the most high-end restaurants we had ever visited, and really blew-us away. Equally fantastic is the fact that my wife and I have a 100% whole-food, plant-based diet (think "vegan") – while most inn keepers would shy-away from the unfamiliar, Phil excitedly embraced our dietary needs and delivered beyond belief. If you are vegetarian, or vegan, I cannot state how hard it is to find a B&B in Vermont that will even accommodate your dining preferences, let alone deliver incredibly tasty and creative meals. Be sure to take a look at the photos of the food!

We stayed with Phil back in October and had the absolute best time. He took such good care of us and we loved our time getting to know him and enjoying his delicious breakfast creations. He took such good care of my dietary needs too (I have celiac disease). Adore him so much and my husband and I can’t wait to return again!

The saying, "Come as a stranger, leave as a friend," couldn't be more accurate for Deer Brook Inn. This place has undergone an inspired and near-miraculous transformation since Phil walked through its doors and began to work his magic. The entire place is clean, comfortable, welcoming, and jaw-dropping in its interior and exterior beauty. However, the heart of Deer Brook isn't in its design, but in its owner and his attention to his guests, their comfort, their lives and their passions. The food is stunningly presented and delicious and the common spaces inviting and thoughtfully arranged. Go no further than Deer Brook when you're looking for a place to stay in the Woodstock area.

Beautifully renovated B&B with absolutely amazing breakfast! Phil and Reba made us feel incredibly welcome; almost like a part of their family. The inn is just outside Woodstock, and the autumn foliage was well worth the trip from St. Louis. My wife and I would happily visit again!

My partner and I are usually extremely organized planners - trips are booked months in advance, with itineraries mapped out and restaurants booked. So it was very uncharacteristic of us to plan a Memorial Day Weekend getaway to Vermont (from NYC) only one week beforehand. Boy, did we luck out by picking Deer Brook Inn!

We arrived late on a Friday evening. We kept Phil, the innkeeper, informed of our progress - he couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating of our late arrival, and greeted us warmly and enthusiastically. We headed right to bed, as we were exhausted from our long drive!

We awoke to the next day to an amazing breakfast - a beautiful parfait, a perfectly risen egg souffle, and some delectable sides... all made with fresh, local ingredients. I can't stress enough how good this breakfast was, and it was the first of three fantastic breakfasts. Phil adds a certain Southern flair to his breakfasts, and while my waistline wasn't thankful, my palate certainly was. Ricotta-filled French Toast with lemon curd?? Yes, please! Phil and Giselle really are culinary masters The pictures and reviews don't do the breakfasts justice!

Phil sat with us on the first morning of our stay and gave us some ideas for things to do in the area. We had come to Vermont with the idea that we would do lots of excursions - Stowe, Burlington, Ben & Jerry's, etc., etc... and chose Woodstock partially because it's pretty centrally located from all of the Vermont touristy spots. Unbeknownst to us, Woodstock is a treasure trove of history (close to President Coolidge's historical site/birth place), conservation (Rockefeller estate and Marsh-Billings National Historic Park), local farming (Billings Farm - with sheep shearing demonstrations, collie sheep herding, and other fun activities, and Sugarbush Farm - with delicious cheeses and great nature walks), and an outstanding community of artisans and craftsmen (Shackleton Thomas furniture and pottery, Farmhouse Pottery, Simon Pearce glassmakers, Andrew Pearce woodwork). You will not run out of things to do in the area. Just go to your local supermarket and get some Ben & Jerry's - skip the tour! We heard it was "meh" anyway.

The inn itself is delightful - also very LGBT-friendly. We were in the "suite" and it was quiet, cozy, and comfortable. We felt like we had our own apartment, and had tons of privacy. Whenever we wanted to do our own thing, we felt completely able to - but whenever we were in the common spaces, Phil was a warm and friendly face. He adds a certain touch of Southern Charm to this Vermont inn! The inn has great outdoor areas as well.

You'll eat well during your trip - not just for breakfast. The Woodstock area has TONS of fantastic restaurants. We ate at Lincoln Inn one night and Simon Pearce the other night - both close to Deer Brook Inn. You should book in advance if you can, but we got lucky. Two fantastic, special meals.

All in all, Deer Brook Inn is the perfect place for a fun getaway. Perfectly located, full of delicious breakfasts, comfortable rooms, charming staff.... you couldn't ask for more. Phil is a prize-winning hospitality expert, who has owned some of the South's most high end luxury inns. Thank goodness he found his way to Vermont! Stay here and you won't be disappointed.

Had an amazing stay at Deer Brook inn! The only thing more charming than the accommodations is the inn keeper, Phil! He made our stay extra special and the complimentary breakfast was delicious.

This is a spectacular inn! The innkeeper is affable, and displays a genuine enjoyment of people as well as an attention to the smallest detail (like an array of pillow firmness options) to make guests comfortable. The house and our room were tastefully and comfortably decorated A phenomenal value.

Spacious, clean and well appointed room. Host George was there to greet us at the door and made us feel at home instantly. Gourmet breakfast. Charming, romantic, quiet. Great restaurants nearby. This is now our go to place when in the neighborhood.
