Did the blue trail and the steeper side, this is a very easy hike. Not bad for an afternoon. Wildlife was cool, almost stepped in a snek and here’s a picture of a toad.

I would suggest more inexperienced hikers take the white trail over the blue trail. If at least for the ascent. We have hiked other Appalachian mountain ranges and this wasn't the most challenging, but could see the blue trail being harder for some people. We brought our dogs along for the hike and very much appreciated the well groomed trail. The views were nice in at the top, I imagine gorgeous when the leaves are in full fall mode!

Was a great afternoon hike with great views at the top 👍🏼 lots of ample parking and cool sign boards and other random things at the bottom

It's a great trail with awesome viewpoints. You do need appropriate equipment to enjoy the mountain, however. This is especially true during the winters when the trail is covered with ice. I saw a lot of people stuck on the way up and also on the way down.

At a minimum, you need to be dressed in layers and be wearing cleats (yaktrax or something similar) to not slip while walking up the steep slope at the trailhead start. Wearing yaktrax is especially important when descending the mountain, because the slope there is steep too.

I feel like this is important for me to mention here, because in the trailhead brochure it says the trail is for beginners. This is true, as I am a beginner myself, but the right equipment is needed for wintertime, because the trail remains busy throughout the year and the fallen snow gets compacted over the trail quite fast. Wearing bald trainers (as I did once) will guarantee you a bad time.

Heavy snow also brings about another great activity: show-shoeing on the mountain top! Not recommended for beginners, of course, but I saw lots of people have fun with that after a heavy snowfall, especially when the snow gets more than knee-deep.

Awesome trail very easy to navigate. Well taken care of. Very Rocky! Be careful not to twist ankles. Very steep in a few places but the view is well worth it.

For an out of shape middle-aged lady like myself, this one really made me huff and puff on the ascent! And I'm no Big Bad Wolf! Definitely a good cardio workout, with the bonus of a beautiful view once you reach the top. On the descent, make sure your eyes are glued to the ground and not your phone. Lots of rocky terrain to navigate.

Its a very scenic trail outside of State College, but you've really got to be careful. Some of the trails to the top are steep and contain lots of rocks, so the risk of potentially slipping and falling on these rocks is ever present. But in the end, you'll win with persistence

Saturday weather was cool enough for hiking. Warmed up quickly after making it up the rocky incline. Wow, it kicked my butt. Stunning views from the top. We were fortunate to run into a gentleman who took the time to point out all the landmarks.

Amazing views, comfortable weather and, doable trails. We spotted a lot of squirrels, birds, and spiders. We also spotted an adult deer and a snake. Very nice place to get in touch with nature, and very easy to access from DownTown by using HM bus line. Almost any clothes are appropriate for hiking (summer). Use sunblock, drink water, and that’s all you need.

Great hikes, up the mountain is tough, steep, and rocky, but it levels off higher up. Parking is fairly limited, but there is an overflow lot. Signage is pretty good, and the overlooks are nice little views of the nearby towns.

My partner and I do this weekly. Our best time is in the 30 minute range.. maybe 28 minutes? Just for reference on length. Lovely hike. It's a real bunz burner. My partner and I have spent many fun times here always prepared to spot a bear but alas.. no siting yet. A local staple so it can get busy. Parking can be annoying as people often take up more than one space. We found our first morel here right on the path! If you're visiting, and you crave some outdoor time, you've gotta hike the Nitt!!

Quick gain in elevation. The trail at the top provides awesome views of the area.

A bit challenging to get to on a weekend: parking anywhere near the trailhead is next to impossible due to the crowds. That said, it's great challenging hiking to start off, but once you get to the top, the views and remain trails are outstanding!
