Great hike. A little over 2 miles to the top. 1st mile has about 600 ft of elevation, then flat for a bit, and then a bit more climbing to the top. Second half is very rocky. View is worth it.

It's a beautiful place and a challenging hike, but completely worth it. It took me and my family approximately 5 hours to go up and down the montain... so be ready with enough water, maybe some snacks and enough time to rest and enjoy the view. If you are a pro in hiking, it will be a peace of cake haha Don't miss it, if you try you will not regret it.

Challenging hike if you take the harder route. Uneven terrain and could be better maintained by removing all the dead trees on the trail.

We're later 60s, finished hiking the Appalachian Trail a year ago. Without training, this hike was easy for us. We went up the challenging route and down the preferred. Our Garmins both read 4.5 miles and around 1300 elevation gain. The view was beautiful and well worth the hike!

The entrance to this trail is from Col Dennings State Park. The trail goes up and up and up, and its a bit of a hike about 2.5 miles to Flat Rock, and as the photo suggests, very much worth it along with the workout. Try it out yourself.

Difficult 1,400+ foot elevation change. Climbing the loop counter clockwise makes for a very steep start with a longer but less steep descent. Can be punishing. You'll be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Cumberland Valley if you make it to Flat Rock.

What a hike! Definitely bring water and snacks, you will need it. Allow yourself at least 5 hours to hike the trail(total time). The view at the top it worth it. If you're adventurous enough there is a camp site at the top.

First time hiking here. I have heard a lot of good things about it. There are other trails here but the view at the top was what I picked this trail for.

Great trail! A little harder compared to others I’ve done but so worth it! The view is the best I’ve seen so far.

Challenging hike for a novice but doable. The challenge is worth it with a rewarding view from the top. None of these pictures can accurately capture this breath taking view. I highly recommend this hike. It is the best in the Cumberland Valley.

Beautiful view. Challenging hike. Friendly people hiking the trail. It is well worth the 2.5 mile hike to the top.

This trail might be a bit of a climb but the view at the top is so worth it

Clear trail. No real litter. Signs do say red/blue trail is flat rock but most of the trail seemed to be yellow blazes. That said, the view is certainly worth the effort. Took about an hour via the "challenging" trail to hit the view point. Hiking boots recommended. Poles may help too but certainly not necessary.

Beautiful winter afternoon right after cold Christmas(2022) days. Enjoyed with family under the pavilion at the trailhead, got some hot tea and noodles.

Hands down my favorite hike in the Harriburg area. The terrain changes so much that you'll never get bored, from steep, rocky switchbacks to flat, marshy areas with ferns and mountain laurels all along the path. The view at the top is INCREDIBLE with a 180-degree view of the valley. It may be a bit challenging for a novice hiker, but is a fun one to run if you're an athlete. It typically takes me about an hour to reach the top if I'm hustling, so plan to spend a whole morning or afternoon if you want to take your time.

Great hike with an awesome view at the end (one of the best I've seen in PA). Trail is very well marked and easy to follow (you will start off on the Flat Rock Trail and then have the option to do the more strenuous or 'preferred' route; I chose strenuous, which has a red blaze). About half-way up you will reach a junction -- continue on the Tuscarora Trail with a blue blaze to the Flat Rock Vista. I would definitely agree that this was a more difficult and strenuous hike - it takes about 45-60min to get to the top, and almost all of it is uphill (rocky, too). Bring boots and lots of water. Very well worth it once you get to the top!

Really beautiful! I would definitely
recommend going here, just for a
a good hiking.A little bit out of the way, but when you finally get there and stand at
the lookout the view is just breath
taking! Bring a picnic lunch for a
pleasant break in one of the well
maintained picnic areas.

Such a great hiking trail. It was a lot of climbing but so much worth it. Amazing views rewarded. Well marked trail. Definitely want to to hike again for the beautiful overlook.

Great hike! Still lots of color. Did the prefered trail as I had others with me and I was packing a 40lb pack for the workout.
About 1.5 hrs up. About 20mins on top and 1hr 15mins down.
Plan for 3 hours total if you in decent shape.
