This is my preferred hospital for emergency and urgent health issues. There's a fast track that gets you in and out, usually within a couple of hours. Full disclosure, I've had an issue in the past with not being treated well during a return visit for my miscarriage. So I wouldn't go back for a pregnancy related issue, because they had no idea what to do to help me there. But for everything else, moderately emergent and up, this is where you want to be. The staff is dedicated and work together to support you and your health.

I don’t remember the last time I dare to go to an emergency room as I know the long waits and chaos as well as the high costs associated with them. However a few months ago I was suddenly very unwell and after weathering it at home for a couple days I made my way to DCMH. They were able to bring me to the back within 10 minutes and I was led to a private room (they are all private rooms) and a provider was in my room in just a few more minutes. The doctor showed great compassion and listening skills and encouraged me to participate in decisions regarding my care. The nurse was friendly and efficient. I got labs drawn, multiple medications and fluids, and was feeling better in two hours. I could not appreciate the staff at DCMH enough. I am commenting now because I heard the pending closure of the hospital/ ED. It is such a shame and closure has this ED will surely further crowd surrounding hospitals and the already-busy trauma centers. DCMH is perfect for non-trauma and non-surgical emergencies and I really wish we can at least keep the ED open. Maybe half ED half Urgent Care? Nonetheless I want to review and say my thanks to staff there.

I HATE HOSPITALS, but DCMH changed my whole outlook in just one day. Everyone was kind and welcoming as well as concerned for my condition. The service was accurate and exceptional. I really wish the hospital wasn't closing down I would love to give birth here. Nurse Jody was soo pleasant. Dr. Cooper was knowledgeable and kind. Ms. Pat at registration was friendly and knew her stuff. Again everyone was beyond nice and caring. I didn't feel like a patient I felt like I was around family who live and care about me deeply. I was comfortable and taken care of very well. I love DCMH

Took my sister to the ER late past midnight. We weren't sure what the issue was, but they took her extremely quickly. The parking was free, too, and there's a huge garage. I couldn't come in with her due to COVID restrictions, but the very nice security guard wrote down the ER phone number for me so I could check in on her. I drove back home since I didn't feel right sitting in a parking lot alone that late at night. I expected a long night of waiting anxious at home, but she called me in just an hour and told me they had taken care of her and she could come home. They said they were glad she came in, so I'm glad we went. Everyone was lovely despite how late it was. I feel lucky to live nearby such a great hospital.

I am in this hospital right now. Have been in ER since 8am and the staff has been AMAZING. Professional, informative, kind, and funny. Most of all they have been beyond patient with so many of these rude, entitled patients and relatives. The staff can't say it bluntly but I will. This hospital is small and we are in the midst of a pandemic. Nurses and doctors are getting sick. There aren't enough of them. Even when we weren't, ERs were slammed. Have some damned compassion for the people risking their lives to save yours. It's impossible for every person to get a bed immediately. It's basic math. Sit down and shut up if you're not suffering a fatal injury or symptoms.

I came in with my autistic son who swallowed a penny and breathing erratically. I was frantic and they staff saw us right away. We were able to get X-rays have them read to know that all was okay. Everyone was kind and patient which was very comforting. Thanks to everyone working last night

I went in with pain in my left arm and I thought I was having a heart attack. The staff took wonderful care of me and all my tests were done quickly. The nurses and doctor were very kind and very attentive to my concerns. I hope they don’t decide to shut this hospital down because the community needs a hospital that’s close by.

From the moment I walked through the door I felt welcome and respected. The security guard was nice, the person at the intake table was nice, the RN was nice and both the Doctors I saw were nice. I live in Overbrook Park near Lankenau Hospital but choose to travel to DCMH because I really feel cared for and I always feel like they want to help and not just get to the end of their shift. I absolutely love DCMH and when someone asks me where they should go, I’m quick to say, “DCMH!”

I suddenly got very sick over course of a day so I went to the ED, for the first time. Fully prepared for long waits which is common across all hospitals, I was pleasantly surprised that I was taken straight to the back (because these was no line). ED attending came in within minutes of me being roomed, and very quickly I was given meds and fluids to make me feel better. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly, and thoughtful. From a raging headache and nausea vomiting to walking out like a new person, took only an hour and a half. Highly recommend. I pray they don’t shut this hospital down.

I ruptured my left quadriceps tendon on 6/16/22. The Collingdale EMS team transported me to the DCMH Emergency Room where I was seen by the attending physician. She was very competent, caring, and professional. The tendon was obviously ruptured. After the X-ray, which was performed quickly, the doctor and her assistant stabilized my leg in a brace and discharged me. I made a follow up care appointment with a surgeon for the following day.

The DCMH Emergency Room staff are excellent. It’s a travesty that the facility is closing. I’m a lifelong resident of Drexel Hill and have used the emergency services of DCMH for myself and my family many times over the years. Through those years we have come to depend on their services for true emergencies like when my wife almost bled to death from fibroids, when my daughter dove head first splitting her forehead on a cast iron radiator or when my son was mysteriously paralyzed by the onset of chicken pox.

This facility is too important to close!

I had an allergic reaction to nuts. The staff was very attentive from the moment I walked up to ask for help at reception next to the triage nurse and then back to my nurse and Dr. I was in and out within 4 hrs and that was after receiving meds for my symptoms through IV drip. Thank you. I am on the mend.

I have always received excellent care and I have been hospitalized in 1996,1998, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2017. I have been through the emergency room on several occasions including in July 2017. I have found the care to be exceptional and the customer service to be among the best. Unfortunately due to being bought by profit-making companies instead of staying non- profit as most hospitals were in the past, now the bottom line has become more important than the patient, so... nurses are expected to do more with less as are doctors, maintenance, etc. I am a self advocate as we all need to be these days. I am always kind and courteous to everyone on the staff and I may have to wait but I always get what I need.

I’ve had to visit the emergency room a few times over the last 7 years. I always felt well taken care of by the staff. I never had to wait very long either. I’m sorry to hear that the ER is shutting down. I’m sad for the community.

I spent a total of 4 weeks after 2 consecutive surgeries there. In the ICU and a regular room, my surgeon, all of the doctors, nurses, physical therapists and nutrition staff were talented, professional and caring. It saddens me greatly to learn that all surgical services at the hospital have been discontinued. It is a tragic loss to our community.

I had a small procedure done yesterday at the hospital surgi Center. The entire staff was wonderful. From the moment I was greeted and taken back to prep for surgery every staff member was professional, caring and compassionate. They made sure that I was informed about the entire procedure. Nurse Jess treated me like family when administering my after care. She hugged me when I left which made me feel like million bucks. Thanks to all of these dedicated nurses/doctors/ anesthesiologist for making my experience a good one!

Came in because of a fall and had to have stitches. The doc sewed up up and gave me instructions to make sure I put on sunblock or the scar would look more pronounced. She did a great job. Was experiencing orthostatic hypotension and was kept a night for observation. The nurses as always were awesome.

The nurse Lori C. was theee best nurse I’ve seen in a long time and I work in healthcare, her bedside manner was stupendous. She explained everything, she was compassionate, she included me in the decision making, she is just top tier nursing. I don’t know how the leadership works at DCMH but she should be teaching other nurses or something because it made the whole dreadful experience better. I forgot I was in a hospital because of her.

I arrived at DCMH with a serious steady flow of epistaxis , nosebleed. The receptionist at the check in counter worked quickly with me and sent me back to the nurse in a patient manner. The nurse took my vitals and provided me gauze to assist with the flowing of blood out my nose. I was then taken to a room where the Physician Assistant asked me some questions and check my body thoroughly. She diagnosed the problem, explained in detail what was happening, provided a prescription for nasal spray. After about 20 minutes the blood stopped flowing. I like to thank the entire staff for their professional approach to my medical issue. Everyone was knowledgeable and patient during this entire ordeal. Thank you and hopefully I won’t have an reoccurrence. However if I do I will definitely know I will be in good hands at DCMH.

The staff were very friendly and listened to my concerns and suggestions about my health and what I wanted. There was no significant wait time. I was in and out within 2-3hrs due to my reasoning for my visit. The Drs took their time and were very patient with me.
